Impressed, any chance of a close up pic of those monster brakes?
-
I thought i'd stripped my down too. But Jason stripped all the internals of the doors and tailgate out too and paint them inside and out including new sealer around the welds. It was in the shop for 9 weeks in total two of which the car was left standing in primer in a huge plastic bag for everything to settle. There no-way jason's boss made a profit on painting my car. Then again don't think thats the reason he agreed to the job.

True, last thing you want is to have to do it again. Are you changing the colour?

Just phone MJ for a quote, better letting him trim your front seat too as he'll use better leather and finish them to a higher std than konig. Quality costs, other places are cheaper but you get less for your money. Classic example between poor job and a good one if the inserts on the doors and rear qtr panels. MJ's have shark gill detailing i.e. ribs on inserts, cheap jobs are completely plain. Depends on whether you bothered or not.

Just changed the switch LED's to red. Looks the dog's. For the instruments i'm having translucent red screen printed onto 200mic M/R PVC so its a perfect match for the factory filter and a few neat touches of mine own. Also started some more of the nasty jobs and realised C's just aren't big enough for multi-amp installs. Plus an E38 pic

Love the car, but i 've always hated the name. "Corrado" sounds sooo gay.

Maplin also do 3mm LED's with the built in resistor: CJ66W 18p each. Also there is CJ70M, can't work out the difference between these! I ordered CJ70M's. Don't think they have a built in resistor but looks like theres two resistors on the pcb of the window switches so no need for built in ones.

Lowest i've heard is £600. Best advise is go to someone who's done it before, nothing worse when it comes to bodywork than have to get bad work rectified.
-
How do you take the switches apart to change the bulbs? Guessing VW will do me no favours with a cheap replacement should i break one!!
-
Why bother if with the hassle for a cheap job? You'd be better advised to have dodgy area's blown in for a better quality finish.

Ride height effects the drivability more than wheel width. Mine was surprisingly smooth on 9.5" and 35series walls until i dropped it another 40mm. Better than on 205/40's toyos. Then again my current pirelli's are probably a much better tyre.

Thinking the samething myself. Rhodri, First of all it anything can be done if you really want too and you realise that you going to have to part with the thickend of £5K in wheels, body and suspension to do it (£230 budget kits won't cut the mustard). As for those who call you stupid, i won't be holding my breath for them to build something special and prove their point.

Nope, my car is very pointy at the front end. It does upset the balance tho' as the rear is completely unstickable. feels very kart like infact or like you have a boot full of something very heavy and you loose some agility due to the extra grip at the back.

Some Pics from VW Mania 2004 (hope they are of interest)

Blue one on LM's is sweet. Looks like he's running golf subframes as the recaros are sitting high. Suk's car looks special too. -
Interesting to get other opinions. From what i understand though lookin' on a few forums seems its more to do with full range rather than bass. I think jist of the box is a left to right fader with phase shifting and a variable delay. I'm guessing its all about balance the front components.

Definately in the car audio sense. Lookin' through brochures, looks cool, doesn't say what it does.
-
As above and do i need one? Heard there pretty cool.

Mate, just cause they have an oven doesn't make them any good. Your paying for prep, on a £1000 you get next to none. You do see some nice lookin' cheap jobs but they don't last. They start peeling, fading seen it sooo many time in my 5 years of being on the show scene. With bodywork you get what you pay for,

Just thinking aloud but feedback would be good. Just bought an MB Quart Premium PSD210 component kit, good choice? 4" midrange for the dash and tweeter for the top of the door. Just wondering if i should make a fibreglass pod to sit behind the 4's in the dash for added sound proofing or not worth the effort?
-
Almost, there's a self tapper at the side of the mounting bracket for the instrument cluster.
-
how much is it for a new steering rack? Are they exchange only? Upgraded items available?
-
If its been baked in an oven you can polish it straight away
-
I'd guess M3 side skirts would cost £300ish fitted? I'd put the money towards a more expensive set of rims or coilovers if you've not got them already. Slammed on classy rims would make more impact IMO.

you don't need to go down completely to bare metal but its pretty close with loads showing. Think there pics of my C stripped to a rolling shell in the members area. Got loads of pics of the process but can't post them until after the PVW feature. Should imagine it adds weight depending on the quality of the job. Including primer, colour and lacquer theres either 9 or 10 coats of paint on my C.

think of it this way, if a bodyshop quotes 2k. If they charge the going rate of £37 per hour that allows for about 50 hours to do a complete car, thats with no paint, no window rubbers and they'll skimp on the masking. As for Kev's comment about show quaity paint. Theres no such thing in my book, theres either a good paint job or not.
