  1. Getting close to finding out who was responsible. Have some names and just waiting for a bit more info before I go back to the police. Still asking for more information, if anyone can shed any light on this it will be most helpful.
  2. Thanks mate. Any info would be appreciated. I have a quote to fix the car £1500.
  3. oh dear. I seem to have fat fingers tonight  Should read : We are of the same mind Wendy, except you did not spot my ;-) after the word "sensible" I will let you off that small error ;-)
  4. We of the same mind the Wendy, except you did not spot my ;-) after the word "sensible" I will let you off that small error ;-)
  5. OK, I know where you mean Sonic. Just before the sugar there is a footbridge, near Bury Bowl I believe. I think there is a school nearby that bridge which might explain. Pat, thanks for the offer. The only OEM part I think I may need is the front n/s wheel hub. I am also trying to find a single Wolfrace Matrix satin finish 17" wheel to get the car drivable.
  6. Wendy, I just grin looking at pics of the car. To be honest, If I can afford it I will keep the VR6 no matter what. Get rid of the bike, Get a 2nd hand 350 Z & slowly restore the VR6 to original spec. What do you think? The Corrado is probably better than cash in the bank. TBH I am getting a bit old for my Daytona 675 at 42. Time to grow up and buy a sensible Nissan ;-)
  7. yeah i know. i have been thinking about the bike thing all day. With 3 little ones I am almost decided that I will get rid of of my bike. 2 Nights before & I would have been history or worse crippled.
  8. Thanks, I may be being a bit optimistic with my valuation after looking around on the net. To me the car value is almost priceless but I fear I may be turning to the dark side after looking at pics & reviews of the Nissan 350 Z. Sods law that I just signed up to suffolkbugrs and was looking forward to the alive & dubbin event.
  9. Thanks both of you. I did not hear about the A14 bricks. Where abouts on the 14 was it?
  10. No, did not get his name. I wonder if the people that did it will be out to try again tonight? Maybe someone will get injured of killed this time.
  11. Hi All I am gutted :mad2: today as my Corrado VR6 which I have treasured for 4 years was involved in an accident last night. Also it's a heads up for any drivers in the Stowmarket area. At 22:50 I was heading home down Needham Road between the ICI roundabout and the Esso garage at 30mph. Some idiots had placed 4 york stone blocks equally across the main road. By the time I saw them it was too late to avoid a collision and my front & rear n/s wheels took the impact. I called 999 as I could see other blocks further down the road and stopped other traffic from hitting them. I could hear those responsible in the park next to the road and told the police that if they hurried they would catch them. To my surprise a copper turned up 3 minutes later but unfortunately he was not at all interested in catching them. He parked up and helpfully put his blue lights on which frightened off the culprits. Result is a bent front suspension, knackered front hub, split rear alloy. The garage (not VW) have estimated at least £1500 to get it fixed as new suspension (lowered) is required and a new set of alloys as well as a new hub & 2 tyres. If anyone can steer (no pun intended) me in the right direction of a decent full suspension kit that will lower the car -40mm from standard I would be most grateful. The insurance company have said it is likely to be a write off so I presume that I will be able to buy the car off them & get it fixed? If anyone has experience of this I would welcome any advice. My excess is £450 and I estimate the car to be worth between £3250 - £4500 (when fixed). 103k on the clock & very clean. I feel a bit better now I have got that off my chest. Any advice most welcome. Ta.
  12. Ok, fuel pump is priming fine. I am sure it is not the fuel pump relay as I took it out & tried starting. The car was firing with the fuel that was left in the system. When it has failed to start in the past it has not done that, it just turns over without firing. So to recap. The fuel system seems ok, it is producing a spark, it is not the Engine speed sensor (new part fitted) so it still looks like the culprit is the ignition switch to me. Any other ideas most welcome.
  13. LOL, I am not in the mood for throwing spanners and skinning knuckles today ;-) Pretty sure it is not relay problem, i always check them if it wont start. I have never heard the fuel pump prime (going deaf) but I will get someone to check this when it stops raining. Will call the stealers later and get a quote for the ignition switch. Just wondering if there is a test that can be done to find a faulty switch? As my VW dealer spent 4 hours diagnosing the fault but did not mention the switch!
  14. sounds like another load of dosh for the local vw garage. I hate the thought of wasting half a day with a torch in my gob. Been there and don't want to go back ;-) But I am still puzzled, can someone confirm. If the car does everything it should (except fire) then can it still be the ignition switch? I would have thought that nothing would happen if the switch was buggered.
  15. Thanks, I have been seeing that on a few posts. Going to show my ignorance now. If the ignition switch is os would the car still turn over? I would have thought it would just be dead? I eventually got the car going and back home tonight. Wiggling the key seemed to help but so did crossing my fingers and praying ;-) Also, is it a DIY job or is changing the switch a pro job?
  16. Over the past few months my '93 VR6 has failed to start on a few occasions. It turns over but will not fire until several attempts. Last week it just refused to start. RAC looked at it for 2 hours then gave up and took it to the stealers. They said it was the engine speed sensor. £250 later the car was back on the road with a noticable improvement in performance and starting. 3 days later I am back to square one! The car would not start on Monday morning. After much fiddling I plugged my laptop into the car and ran VAG-COM. No faults but after I unplugged it the car started. I thought that maybe I had cleared something on the ECU. Now to this evening. I collected my son from scouts, jumped back into the car and you guessed it... wont start!! Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? I don't want to get rid of the car after 4 years but she is starting to let me down to often. Please help!

Mod edit. Sorry, no requests for copyright material.
  18. Noticed that the forum was not mentioned on wikipedia so I just added a link. After all, if you need any info on the c this is the best place to start! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Corrado
  19. I get the best results using Mr Sheen wipes for leather. Sheens, Shines & Shimmers.. in Shecounds ;-) It keeps my leather clean and most importantly, nourished. Available in most supermarkets.
  20. Thanks Andy & sorry for the late reply. I really appreciate it. I will head down to maplins next week and post my results.
  21. Thanks Mark but the link does not work. Do you have a contact number for Autobulbs?
  22. Hi Mark, I have the same amber LED's as you I think. eBay, Hong Kong. Tested them on hazard lights and they look great. I have red tinted rears but you would not know when they flash. Trouble is on indicators they flash twice as fast as on hazards. Can you tell me the part number and a URL for the resistors please. Also if you could post a pic of them in-situ that would help us all out. Thanks m8ty
  23. I will most likely put the original headlights in for the MOT, just in case ;-)
  24. Yeah that makes sense, if only I could figure out how to get the in-pro lights apart ;-) Lenses come off with clips but the rest looks like a sealed unit.
  25. Sorry my reply took so long. I can report that the lens change made no difference to the beam. Please bear in mind that my in-pros are set for left hand drive. (if anyone knows how to convert them to RHD please let me know). I sprayed the reflectors with some matt black exhaust paint I had lying around. Turns out that this is the perfect paint and it wont be effected by heat. Here is a pic on sidelights. I thin it's way better than the clear lens / silver reflector combo. Let me know what you think. Not had time to change the grille yet.
