Bugger! Then I wasted 80 notes on the springs then. I am sure I checked a few weeks ago and spax listed 2 kits, 1 standard & 1 lowered. I checked the part number and it came up as the standard one?

I bought a standard ride height SPAX suspension kit last year which I intend to fit this weekend. I wanted to lower the VR6 by 40 mm so I decided to buy some lowered springs on eBay. I stood them up against the standard height SPAX ones and they are identical. I am presuming that they should be 40mm shorter than standard or do they just compress more when fitted? I have tried to contact the seller but got no reply :(

I need front & rear bumpstops for my 93 VR6 but just got off the phone to GSF & they need a part number for the fronts. Rears not a problem as they are the same as a Golf 3 apparently. Also he suggested that I may be better off fitting polyuarathane stops. Any advice on the two would be welcome.

I can get optimax but to be honest I did not see any differance between that & the Esso high octane. I suppose you have to keep using it to see a real benefit.

My VR6 has been bugging me for ages, hesitant, lacking in power etc. I had an idea my injectors may be to blame. I had read that Redex was a bit of a waste of time but it was on offer at our local motor factors today so I thought I would give it a try. Was I glad I did! The results were almost immediate. Now my VR6 feels like a new car, much more responsive and loads more power 8) Has anyone else had a similar experiance with this product? My advice if you have the same problem is give it a try. ps I dont work for Redex

worth a try, Thanks.

Sunroof has a mind of its own, depends on weather!

yeah tried that & it made no difference. -
I am convinced my VR6 has an intelligent sunroof! It only works properly when the outside temp is above 21c If it falls below this temp then you have to press the button approx 20 times to close or open the roof. The roof slides approx 1cm with each press. However when the suns out and it gets above 21c it works like new? The only thin I can think is that the runners are not paralel and when they heat up they get back in line. Do you think I am on the right track (pun intended) or is my car fitted with some kind of intelligent computer chip AKA Knightrider 8) If anyone has heard this problem before and knows a way to fix I would be most pleased.

cool, any chance of pluggin it into my VR6?

Is there anyone on this forum that has VAGCOM and lives in Suffolk? ABS Light on problem needs diagnostic check. Willing to travel anywhere in Suffolk, Thanks.

Thanks Nick, I have read about the fuses above the realys in my handbook & the factory manual but I am dammed if I can find them. If I get a chance I will post a picture of my fuse box later. Another Nick

Good post, I have the same problem. I have tested all sensors and the resistance is fine. When I purchased the car the bloke I bought it from had the same problem. He took it to the stealers and all they did was change a fuse, this from the invoice: ABS Light on Carried out diagnostic test N0713112 Fuse Replaced blown no. 21 fuse - cleared faults Parts 44p Labour £50!!!!! Now I cant find no. 21 fuse. I have a factory manual but that is no help. Before I spend £50 to have a dealer change a fuse for me could someone tell me where I will find this fuse. Thanks.

The ride is only harsh on uneven potholed roads and speedhumps. Does not like the rough stuff. But have to say that I cant fault the handling. Its superb which is why I love the car I suppose. Just dont like height. Everyone that sees it says the same "looks a bit high at the rear"
-
Crasher, I just did the measurements. Rear 380mm - Front 360mm So I guess it is standard. Looks to high so I may get the 40mm shorter springs for my SPAX kit. Thanks for your help everyone.

Brought my camera into work, here you go

Yes sorry, forgot to mention the kit is for the VR6. As it happens I do have a tyre wear problem. The O/S front has worn away the tread on the outside, all other tyres are fine. I do plan to own the car long term as its my pride & joy! But alas am skint at the mo.
-
Hey thanks Stuart & thanks for not taking the p. You learn something every day! Still, it just does not look "right" I can put my hand (handshake style) between the tyre & wheelarch, is that normal?

The distance between the bottom of the sill & the tarmac is a whopping 27cms on my VR. Having seen others I am convinced that mine is higher than standard. I have had the car a year and the previous owner fitted 17" wheels with 205/40 Nankang's Stupid question: would this have raised the height of the car? Next puzzle, when I had the car serviced last year at a VW dealer they said that it was not standard suspension. The cars history shows that a different VW dealer fitted front & rear shocks & springs 3 years (2 owners) ago. Its is likely that a VW dealer would have fitted anything other than stock parts? Its alway possible that the previous owner changed it I suppose. I have posted a sepearte question re a SPAX kit that I am considering fitting.

hi all, I aquired a new Spax PSX Suspension Kit about a year ago but having read some of the posts on here I am not confident that they will be any good. The kit is a TAP107 which is standard height. Retail price £375 Also should I even be considering fitting them myself having never touched suspension before. I have borrowed spring compressors but could it all end in tears. Thanks.

Thanks Stan, will give him a try & thanks for the Barnards tip supercharged but last time I went there I came out 600 notes worse off & was not to pleased.

Hi all Had my VR6 for a year now. I love the looks, sound & handling to bits but I am sure it is lacking in power and smoothness. I got my old VR6 mag reviews out last night and read the descriptions of torque & power with some envy. I live in Suffolk and would like to be pointed in the direction of a specialist to look at the car on a rolling road. I have hardly any mechanical knowledge so hence the call for advice. Thanks.

ok, will give that a look & let you know if its the problem.
