  2. Argh... Jim - i dont want to sell the raddo at all ! But its my daily driver and i could do with saving some money ( yeh - by spending an extra 4k on a new car ! Thats new suspension and a respray with cash to spare ) In fact what am i thinking of??? i went through all this last year and decided to keep it. the gf said that she liked golfs but the raddo was much more "stylish" and she rekoned keep the raddo too. Maybe i should replace the vr with ...... a vr !
  3. mtc R32 - thats loads for typing that out. just the sort of info i was after. thinki may go and check the spec ( i am well used to leather now !) and maybe get a test drive in it. This does mean that the raddo will go tho and something to replace it is gonna have to be good !
  4. So, how would a 150hp tdi compare for a two car overtake starting @ 45, with the vr ? What about blasting around the twisties ? Or are they more designed for town and motorway ?
  5. Its pretty slow tho isnt it? Was just looking up the specs. 0 - 60 in 8 secs ??? That cant be right. Anyone know the real world figs ?
  6. Just been offered an 02, 1 owner, 63k, with fsh, cruise, black 5dr, for 8.5k. Doesnt seem like a great bargain, but i am interested. What is the deal with the 150hp model ? They seem quite rare. Is there a big difference in day to day driving between this and the more common 130hp version? Any problems with these cars? What should i look out for? Its has had its 60k service - any other big maint jobs likely to come up ? Tweekability? 8) Any advice much appreciated as always - i have only driven diesel works vans before ! Oh and happy new year ( 1st post of the year etc ) to you all.
  7. I have the Proxy T1-Rs on the Chim after spending days not finding any SP9000s in the correct size. They took a few hundred miles to bed in ( a rather scary few hundred miles ! ) but are now great. Have always had BF Goodrich on the Raddo. Never had a problem and really quite like them.

  9. Would jet washing not force water directly into the hinges ? I would have thought a degreaser with a splash of water would be a better solution.

  15. Your gonna need a steady supply of lenses then ! (i think the general concensus is that they cant take the heat for long periods )
  16. Just for the record, i am now seriously trying to fund a standard zorst now. The Milltek is just too boomy for me. Looks and sounds great from the outside tho !
  17. just want to say that i am also highly skeptical about these gov online petitions too. I dont know why, but something tells me that they will only be used to backup thinks that gov was going to do anyway. Are they run by an independant company or does the gov handle all this info? maybe i start a new thread bout this.
  18. put me down for another ' it wont happen' . By the time any such device is dependable and accurate enough to holdup in court, driving will be a different thing anyway.
  19. If you have had the controls off for any reason recently, check that you didnt put the wrong dials back. See here
  20. Test the following ( vag come will get you the answer quicker tho ! ) Relays, Wheel sensors + connections, Brake pedal sensor ABS ecu connections Pump connections If all else fails - new abs pump :(
  21. Mmmm, more interesting things: From cold : fans 1st come on @ 85d for 15 seconds. Temp keeps rising till about 92 and no further with multiple 15 second ( all speed 1 ) bursts. Waited till fans were on and swithced engine off: Fans ran for 20 secs. No aux water pump. Disconnected rad temp switch and ran engine ( to see if speed 3 would come on ): No fans at all. Switched ign off @ 100d - fans come on with aux water for 5 mins. Ign on : fans switch off again. Engine on again: Water / oil temp rose to 112 speed 3 came on for 10 secs together with aux water pump. Reconnected rad temp: again fans only on when ign of. So some questions and thoughts: Why would the fans go off when i switch the ign on? Why does the run-on circuit seem to run fine with the rad temp disconnected? I think i should defo replace the rad temp sender. What happened to speed 2 ? Didnt manage to test any fuel pump operation but tried to listen and couldnt hear anything. Any thoughts guys ? Could there be more than 1 problem here? ie fan control box speed 2 circuit is dead, rad temp sender is dodgy plus fuel pump wont run on. Sorry for hijacking your thread swindon-corrado - but our problems sound similar !
  22. Ok - just did some testing and speed 2 doesnt work. 1 ( with ign off ) and 3 ( ign on ) work fine. Checked the fuses. All ok. Tesed the temp senders a bit too. When cold the black is open, Blue is closed. Will get to temp in a min and recheck. Dont know what this weill tell me ! Before starting engine - obviously had to turn ign on to test fan speed two and three. The Aux water pump comes on but goes off again when the ign is switched off.
  23. I used the green TurtleWax chipstick on stuff on the front of the Tiv, where some peoplecarier had grazed the bonnet . It was great at filling the white scratches in and then i gave the area a coat of the wax too. Been a month now and it still looks loads better than the white grazing. Not an identical colour match, but the Tiv's paint is flat, not metalic or pearl. I am sure there are better ways, but as a cheap and chearfull method - it looks ok.
  24. Mine used to whistle, but new zorst seems to have stopped that. I am rather fct off that it doesnt do it anymore tbh.
  25. I'd be interested too as i have a few rust patches i want sorting. There is a resprayer just between Bonnyrigg and Rosewell, next to a mobile phone mast. I went in to chat about a full respray once, but didnt go ahead. Maybe worth having a chat? Otherwise i spotted a bodyshop in the small ind est behind Ikea. Had planned to go and have a chat with them, but havnt yet. Sorry, ive no actuall recomendations !
