Sorry Paul1 - i meant lpf33 !
-
Yup - me too. Would have been a bad day changing the resisitor only to find it still didnt work - then discover this ridiculously simple reason ! This thread gets my vote for 'Fix of the Year 2006' !

Ahh - thanks. If the 5 amp is for the aux water pump, is the 20 amp for the fuel, and the 50 amp for the fans then ? Seems i need a 2nd hand control box then ? Mine does not do the 10 min run. :(
-
How many are yours? Haha - class ! Paul - i still have a couple of photees and a vid of yours at the Star RR. I will send them to you via pm thsi w/e.

I have done the search as many times as you have gone through it Kev and still havnt found a troubleshoot for hot start problems. Perhaps i am looking for the answer to a different question than swindon-corrado ! What about the whole run-on circuit?, relay checks ( which ones are they? How do you test a relay? ) Neither aux water or fuel pump not running on - where do yo start with testing these. Thanks for posting the fan troubleshoot though. Can you submitt it to the Wiki? Then you'd stop having to go through it ! ;)
-
Well, i was hopeing that when DelMonty was at Stealth he could get an idea of the troubleshooting Vince would do ( see 'Cooling fan after run strangeness...' thread ). This info, together with info pulled from all the threads here, would be all that was needed to create a Wiki thoubleshooting guide. I dont mind doing it - with a bit of peer review to ensure it makes sense before submitting! No news from Del yet though :( ( he is waiting on an MOT tho )

Hate it when they nick the badge off the front.......

Nope. I was seriously thinking of trying to have a look inside the control box itself. It cant be that complicated in there. Anyone had a looksee ?

Another Edinburger here. Dogzyboy - i work in Newtongrange - will keep a look out for you.

Just posted this on the ( now 25 page ) "RE: FLASH: TVR MOVES TO EUROPE" thread: Some thoughts: Jo public doesnt really care where TVRs are made. They look and sound great so will always turn heads. Car enthusiasts do know and care, but 99% didnt buy one due to whatever reason. Some may ASPIRE to own one, but promises and aspirations dont pay the bills. Several people have said in previous posts: "well i will never buy one, now they are'nt made in great britain !". Really ? Even if the cost of running one halves, they look, sound and drive the same, and are as reliable as any German rival ( which mine is ! ) ? Some who can afford to purchase and run a new TVR, may go for something else, but i think that loss will be more than offset by increased sales in new US and Europe markets opened up by getting the emissions cert. They wont really care where its made, as long as it works. Its a pi$$er that another british car company moved to Europe, and i feel for the workers. But i just watched the CH4 news. The story was two after a report about someone putting their elbow through an expensive painting. It lasted all of 15 secs. Read into that what you will. NS is a businessman. Only a fool would run a company at a loss to feed some sort of british pride, and those who suggest thats exactly what he, PW, or AN Other should do, is nutts. NS hasnt handled the last 18 months very well at all. But i suspect this story aint finished yet. Give it 5 years: we'll be saying "have you seen that mental new Tiv? Why have a Porker when you can get THAT for a similar price !" - and if its rock solid it will sell. I own an "original, UK built" Tiv. I am a member of an enthusiastic car club, run by passionate and friendly people, supported by specialist indepandant garages. If anything, this news may help TVRCC and sporn an whole new raft of SMEs. I certainly hope so. TVRs, their soul, their history wont just evapourate overnight. Long live TVRUK !! Good luck TVREUROPE. * Cherching ! *

Great man. See if you can get a test plan from Vince. I couldnt work out a definative test plan to diagnose cooling ciruit run-on problem, despite reading the 20 or so threads that deal with this problem. If we can cobble together a step by step troubleshooting guide, i think it should go in The Knowledgebase. It seems to be a common enough problem. Suppose it would be fuses + relays first, but there seems to be confusion as to which ones are involved. Also how do you test a relay ? Then temp senders? Individual components ( fan, aux water pump, fuel pump ). Finally the control unit its self - how do you test that ? Good luck with the trip to Stealth.

Form the Mail article: 'A computer works out the time it takes to cover the distance, and then calculates the average speed.' Its amaaazing what they can do these days ....

Del - did you return to this country, get a new job and more importantly, solve this problem? I have just had my aux water pump replaced which i had hoped would cure my hot start problem, but alas it hasnt. Similar issues as in this thread. Aux pump comes on with ignition, but doesnt stay on after engine up to temp and switched off, leading to fuel vaporisation in the lines after a few mins. Cant hear the fuel pump running on either. Beginning to think a new control box is the only answer, but really want to cheack the relays 1st. Do we have a definative answer as to which relays are involved in the run-on circuit ? ( 96 vr )

Lord that crash barrier thing was crap too. Did anyone on the planet think that the car wouldnt take off when hitting a ramp straight on at 70mph? What have we learned? Only that 5th Gear has no ideas. Maybe next week there will be a feature about what religion the pope is.

Hehe - i logged on to mention that Tim was wearing a neckerchief. Well cool....... Also - he said that the Elise was an 'amazing car' 3 times in 5 sentances. Oh dear.
-
OMG - i think i owe you a pint ! Had the controls off the other day ( lubing up the control rods etc ) and when i put the facia back together - blow only on 4. Just put it down to it being my turn to do the resistor job. Yeh - pi$$ed off ! If this is the reason, and it sounds like it could be - THANK YOU !!!
-
Cheers crasher. Just the info i needed. *Title edited in light of drmats correction*

Which is for what? My 5 amp blows as soon as its replaced. At least i rekon i found the hot start issue !

Currently have breakdown cover with More Than and got two keyring fobs which offer £10 reward if anyone finds them. Well i am binning More Than, but want my keys to have a fighting chance of getting back to me if i loose them. So, does anyone use one of these services? The only one i can find on 't interweb is http://www.keysback.co.uk but they have a £20 min charge.
-
Shit, i was gonna try this myself, but crapped out and am getting a garage to do it. You not making me feel any better Jonny5 !!
-
Wierdly, i always 'feel' more power during the 1st tank of 95 after several Optimaxes.
-
Is there 1 circuit which controls the aux water, fuel and fans run-on or do they do it by themselves ?
-
BTW - if we talking bike power then look no further than this! Bike-powered funster hits 60mph in 3.3 seconds !!

Ultima flypast
-
For comedy value, i found a vid taken on the day from inside the madest sounding car there. A Ultima with 'open pipes' ! View it here ( dialup users beware ) I also have a a flypast of it which i will try to post, cos the sound is just mental.
