Have you got a custom rear bumper? I ask because i bought a full Supersprint system- The tail pipe was the oval one (cant remember the measurements) and it was big enough to look right against an OEM rear bumper. You can buy the tail pipe trims, but IMO they look sh!t, PLUS i think they only really fit over the "pea shooter" type tail pipes

What Double-6s said. Eventually you'll find it wont try to fire at all despite it ticking over. Cheap part and easy to replace. Worth a try.

 I was waiting for someone to post a thread about this. LOVED THAT PART TOO! and the rear lights made of jelly. I think there's something floating about, encouraging people to do it themselves. Though that is all ive heard. YUMMY!

FK one you say. I've got a FK one on my 93 VR, no modding required.

Ive got a Cam position sensor, i replaced with a new one, if you want to give it a shot. Bought a new one with the adivce it'd solve a problem and didnt. So the old sensor must be working. Just pay for postage if you want it. Gaz

Hi folks, I bought some McGuard locking nuts from ebay and was told they'd fit a Corrado 93 VR- but they dont fit. They are too small and dont even bite onto the thread of the hub. So went to Halfords to get some more McGuard nuts and I've tried ALL the model numbers they listed for the VR and non fit. So, has anyone got the model number for their locking nuts, so i can be sure to get the right ones? Seems strange not one model fitted. I also compared them to the old nuts (Halfools broke my locking keyS) and they do differ. The sloped part of the bolt before the thread is more angled and not as deep, if that makes sense. Help PLEEEEAASE,ive got vunerable wheels at the mo! Thanks in advance. P.S. I will get some pics of the old bolts and the bolts from ebay to show comparison between the 2.

Clean the ISV anyway mate, no doubt the problem will come back again.

Take the HT leads off first, the HT lead removal tool is best if you dont already have one- someone was selling them on here for £15 a pop inc postage, im sure another peep could tell you who it is exactly. Saves breaking the leads in the process. Then unscrew the bolts that hold the engine cover on, which you'll need a right sized torx bit to do (star shaped). This allows better access to the ISV. Then to get the ISV off you have to get the clips that hold the pipes to it off, which you'll have to prise of using a screwdriver, but you wont be able to reuse them. I just bought a couple of small jubilee clips from halfords under £3 for 2. You'll then have to push the ISV out of the hoop holder its held in by. Give it a a soak in carb cleaner. After a damn good soak tip all the carb cleaner out and spray some WD40 in there. Oh and also use a screwdriver to open the valve inside to make sure it isnt seized (forgot that on the other thread cazza, thanks). refit, jobs a good un'. My knowledge of engines is basic, but improving slowly thanks to the guys/gals on there, and i managed to do it with ease.

Well tbh, id go with the checking the coilpack/dizzy first. If its a 94 it should have a coilpack- black box on the side of the block (battery side) has the ignition leads going into it. Or VR6, who knows his stuff i might add, said it could be a knackered ISV Damper.
-
Yeah you can use some carb cleaner to clean the ISV. If you take the plstic cover off the engine, the ISV is situated at the back to the right of the engine block. Right of the throttle body. It has a white plug going into it and 2 pipes coming out of it into the black square ISV damper box. Apologies for the pic, was trying to give you a better idea
-
What VR6 said matey, ISV Damper- from what ive read before, it quitens down the ISV.
-
SRP- Scratch resistant polish... maybe? Haven't a clue about the others.
-
dtjames- Its attached to the airbox. Should have a plug going into the top of the air intake just after the airbox. Oh and dont drop it when you clean it- quite delicate. ALL- My VR doesnt have the PCV valve just behind the head. But the plug is there, the pipe it plugs into isnt blanked off (if thats what you all meant) it feeds into the air intake that goes into the throttle body.
-
Exactly what it says on the tin- it stabilizes the idle. Giving it a clean can help, try some carb cleaner on it. But as already said, it doesnt sound like its that that's the problem.

Unless they happen to be driving right behind you and they just happen to have the number plate recognition camera, which detects stolen/uninsured/no tax etc vehicles.
-
Im sure you can just tax it with a month left on it. But what if in a months time it gets to the MOT and needs alot of work on it. Best to find out what it needs doing to it before you buy?
-
Ask for it to be MOT'd and Taxed before you purchase. After all, you may think twice depending on what, if anything, it fails for. Like whats already been said, if they shy away from it, it may start bells ringing?

Not a thing Lippy, registered and that was about it. I get the odd email, but doesnt tell me much.

well after reading the link, it looks like you've earnt it... so enjoy it

Just read the story behind M15's car- Didnt realise there was so much behind the car. Looks like you turned it from one of the most sorry looking Corrados out there to one of the nicest. Well done! Looove the colour!

I unplugged EVAP solenoid, now it runs better ?
Critical_Mass replied to VRTrickster's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah mate. On some (most) VRs theres a round valve (PCV?) goes into the air intake pipe, mine is missing. Am i talking about a completely different valve? Gaz EDIT- sorry mate, misread what you said explaining (tired from stanford hall) what the valve did, i understand which valve youre talking about now, I thought the PCV did the job of dealing with the unburnt petrol fumes? -

Replied to on a thread regarding this- the valve at the top left of the engine block? Mine is missing completely.
