Afternoon guys, Thanks for the replies. I gave europerformance a ring this afternoon who said the standard shocks should be ok, but the guy advised me to cut down the bump stops by 0.5 - 1.0 inches. Though I did send an email last night asking if shorter shocks were required. The response i got was, "no using regular shockers should be fine and wont cause any bottoming out, the ride should be comfortable". Anyway looked on ebay today and saw these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=013 (apologies for the long link). A set of FK shockers and springs for £162 inc postage. Decided to pick these up instead and send the springs back.

Cheers Dinkus. Coilovers it is then. Thanks mate.
-
I hear you Dinkus. According to the website though, it states at the bottom that "if you are lowering more then 40mm shorter shockers are required" which implies that a 40mm drop doesnt require shorter shockers. Or are they talking nonsense?
-
Yup soooks dont it.

Hi guys, Got an email today saying Europerformance.co.uk are having a 50% sale, You can get a set of lowering springs for £50. Got me thinking, is just using lowering springs on standard shockers worth doing or should i get saving for a set of coilies? Any disadvantages to using lowering springs as oppose coilies? I was thinking a 40mm drop all round. http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/ ... id=3657656 ta! Gaz

Have I missed some New Rules on Motorway Driving?
Critical_Mass replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
Im also with you guys, i cant help but shout (maybe i shouldnt, and albeit theres no one else but me who can here me shouting) at the people who stay in the middle lane, drives me mad. No problem with people staying in the fast lane as long as they dont hold people up who come up behind them, its those that hold others up and refuse to pull over to the middle lane that annoys me. Motorway driving should become part of the driving lesson agenda. -
Always stick to the small, privately owned garages if possible. In my experience you get a better value for money, more quality in work and a honest polite service. Though i suppose there could be exceptions to that.

Beautiful Passat Andi. I like that..... i like that alot! Its got more buttons on that centre console then the starship enterprise  Looks mint when all lit up! :D

Yeah exactly. Wouldnt be worth the trouble.

Cheers for the response Dr_Matt. I did think the colour was a technicality, the reg plate and location are correct. Been reading on the net that IF the location, reg, time or date are incorrect then its void, other then that its payable. Just thought it was worth a shot. Although the car is dirty, its still blatently a green car and not grey.
-
I think i attached tape to the lights and slam panel, dont own the car anymore so cant go see. The eyebrow spoiler should sit on the front of the slam panel and above the lights - thats where i put the tape.
-
I tried the trim tape from halfords and it seemed to hold with no movement issues. Could self-tapping screws possibly be an option?

Hi all, After a looong day in court regarding bank charges, me and my gf came back to the car to find a parking ticket on her windscreen, due to the time on the ticket running out before we were able to get out of court. Upon looking at the ticket we noticed the colour of the car was wrong. The parking attendant had put grey when in fact the car is green (fresgo green to be precise), the log book will verify that its green. I think it was on a Trevor Mcdonnald programme that i saw that if theres an error on the ticket it becomes void? Is this the case? Cheers all Gaz

Help!!! I got Vise-Gripped - Door Handle
Critical_Mass replied to corradog60stage4's topic in Exterior
See an answer with out an unnecessary saracastic response. -
I bought one of the ones off ebay, seems to work fine and no water has effected it but i'd rather use one that is a bit better quality.
-
No worries. Still no news on these?

Help!!! I got Vise-Gripped - Door Handle
Critical_Mass replied to corradog60stage4's topic in Exterior
Is that what it is, someone trying to break in. Had this happen to my drivers handle on a previous corrado i owned. I though it was just due to the pulling of the door handle when opening the door DOH! I think you can get guards for the handles, dont know what they'd look like though -
Yeah, I had to push mine down by hand. Like i say you can adjust the pins. Sounds like one of the pins (which ever side it is) needs to be adjusted so the lock mechanism grabs the pin.
-
Had this prob myself - fitted new bonnet, one pin was in line but the other was way out. Make sure the pins line up with the holes, you may have to adjust the bonnet at the hinges. I sure the pins themselves can be adjusted... possibly what is required.
-
Seems a bit extreme for the sake of 2-3 litres of brake fluid and some seals.
-
oops, sorry was thinking front brakes not rear. Still the same but opposite still applies.
-
Yeah give it a whack with a hammer. Hit the caliper all over just to loosen it. Then hit the top rear and bottom rear of the caliper to make it move towards the front of the car. It should loosen it and hopefully free it up. The caliper works by pushing a piston out (brake pedal applied) this pushed the inner pad onto the disc while the outer one stays static. They will be close together when the brake pedal is applied. HTH
-
I think a couple of front calipers from GSF are around 65 each. May be worth replacing them, especially when its the front brakes.
-
A metal lump hammer could even be used. Ive been using them for years and never damaged anything. Just careful you only hit the caliper.
