  1. Possibly some help to peeps. Helps identifying the corrado and sony head unit wiring. vehicle wiring Headunit wiring HTH
  2. Nice one, Good luck! Oh and *cough*£150*cough*
  3. Best not to jump in with both feet. Is there any history with the newer engine?
  4. The upper part with the red button is the same we have just that ours is at the side of the seat. That same part, once you get in, moves back towards the door pillar. Ive never seen the point of them myself. Very tidy motor. Paint looks immaculate. Is that the original paint PhilThePitcher?
  5. Similar noise on my VR, ill be watching this thread closely. Could it be the valves? (dashes for door). Is that the BMC CDA filter making the whooshing noise?
  6. Well luckily theres a car audio place literally 4 shops away from halfords. The loom that came with the car is just a male connector into the back of the unit. This trails off into 1 large strip of screws and 2 smaller ones. Ill take the car down it would be better. Oh and how do you reconnect the wires back to iso blocks. Ive tried getting the pins out but they will not budge. CAN you reconnect ISOs? However (not thread related) the car has decided not to work this afternoon. Went home at lunch, got in car to go back to work and it wouldnt fire up. It turns over but will not even attempt to start. gonna change fuel filter see if that solves the prob.
  7. Right update... Been to halfrauds today. They do plenty of adaptors. I found the one i needed (sort of), one large block connector for the back of the headunit. But it splits into 2 male iso connectors. But the connectors in the car are 2 male iso connectors. Can you get a male to male adaptor too? Or is there an adaptor that splits into 2 females?
  8. Cheers Andi Ill reconnect the block connectors and go visit halfrauds. FOund a manual on the net, but doesnt say anything about wiring it up.
  9. Problem- lost the headunit manual since moving house. ah so get rid of the headunit loom and use the 2 blocks that were in the car already. Attach that to a new loom and into the back of the stereo?
  10. Right need some help fitting a headunit. Need to know which wires should be connected to which. When i bought the car there was no stereo just two block connectors in the dash, one brown one black. So i cut the connectors off and proceeded to connect the coloured wires to the connectors on the headunit loom (which had remains of wires from insurance comp taking it out of my old rado). So the same colour wire went to where there was remaining wire of the same colour. However i only got so far before i was trying to figure out which wires went to which connectors with no remaining wire. SO now i have the following wires not yet connected which i need to know which coloured wire from the back of the dash goes to which coloured wire of the headunit loom from back of dash- thin grey/blue striped wire, thin brown/red striped wire, thin blue/white striped wire, thicker red/white striped wire, thicker brown wire. wires from headunit loom- blue with brown dashes, orange with black dashes, yellow with red dashes and black with red dashes. Can anyone tell me which coloured wire from the dash goes to which coloured wire on the headunit loom? Thanks in advance.
  11. Why more for the early bonnets? Didnt think there would have been THAT much difference anyway.
  12. How about Velro? My Vibe sub came with velco strips on the bottom. You maybe thinking VELCRO ARE YOU MAD!??? but believe me it did its job, worked a treat with the boot carpet. Didnt slide around at all.
  13. Agree with JIMMI on that one. Must be something that either they've done/not done. Seems funny that it started and ran ok after the work was done, and now it doesnt. Cant see it being the end of your C mate.
  14. "having read this i wish i hadn't as all i seem to do now is look at the mpg and think 26mpg wish it was more ." I dont sit there wishing it would was more. But, i keep looking to see if its going up and try to keep it increasing. (oh err...). Gets really annoying at time, i do it as a habit now.
  15. Are you sure its oil on the plugs?
  16. Some of you are lucky. My VR does between 21-23 around town and 27-29 on motorway. I struggle to get 250miles out of a full tank of optimax, though i live closer to work then 9 miles and i do do alot of stop/start driving. I do suspect overfuelling though.
  17. mine too is burning roughly the same amount of oil, no black/blue smoke though, which is odd. (and no leaks). Could possible be the valve stem seals, could it not? New plugs will help.... for a while. Until they too have to be replaced. I was advised on here to use thicker oil to help lower the consumption of oil. Sorry cant help you on the other Q's you had... HTH
  18. TBH, i reckon travelling on a motorway is safer then your normal road. All going in the same direction.
  19. After all, and i hate to see say it. Its not necessarily in our own hands. Ok we may all drive safely, but what about other idiots on the road.
  20. What year was NCAP introduced? Any such rating (or equivalent) for the corrado and where it can be found, it would be interesting to know?
