Yep, albeit slightly modified/lightened.
-
The block is fully lightened and balanced. I'm not about to start stating big numbers in case I fall flat on my face, but it should be quick!

Right, it's been a while so I thought it was time for an update! Went to G-Werks on Thursday and picked up the new engine for the raddo. Looks like Darren and the guys have done a top job 8) Note how the flywheel is *slightly* smaller then a std one  climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf7.jpg[/attachment:d60a1] Didn't take long before my hands were dirty... Cheers to Champo for the assist  09062007124.jpg[/attachment:d60a1] Just waiting for some silicone hoses to turn up so I can plum in the new intercooler and the Raddo will be back on the road!!! :D 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf09062007126.jpg[/attachment:d60a1]

I'm in :D

Quite interested to see how this goes, as I'm having trouble with my passenger handle and was thinking about going down this route. 8)

Well, after getting the proper tool for the driveshafts, swearing a bit and skinning only one knuckle, we finally dropped out the old engine and gearbox and I'm pleased to say we didn't find any more rust underneath!!! Now it's ready for the new engine to go in when I get it back from G-Werks
-
This...
-
Time for a quick update. The engine isn't finished yet, but after removing the front end in preparation for taking out the engine and grarbox, i discovered loads of rust on the battery tray... But after a couple hours with the sandpaper and paint it's looking a little better now  Also, while I was at it, I took care of some stonechips too... Hopefully this weekend, I'll get hold of the proper spline tool for the driveshaft bolts and have the engine out!

Well there's been a bit of a hold up due to a crappy f**king supplier (not G-werks!) selling me the pistons, then putting the pins on top of them in transit, damaging and rendering them useless, and then denying all responsability!!!   Fortunately Darren has come to the rescue and there will be a happier update shortly.
-
Thanks Dave, I take that as a compliment! Well I'm trying to keep up with you for a start! But lets just say I'll have some more updates for you guys in the next week or so
-
Well the games have started, after an interesting chat with Darren, I decided to strip the engine down after work for some 'modifications' to be made... Just starting and sizing up for my new FMIC... Apart from the turbo, not a lot of this will be going back in... This however, will be making a return to the engine bay...

who has the biggest and baddest corrado in terms of bhp
_Monkey replied to all the gear no idea's topic in General Car Chat
That's cheating though! Don't think there's much Corrado left of that! -
That's fantastic!!! Didn't recognise where he was getting on though.

Think I just had the king lead off of the dizzy when I primed mine, that's enough to stop it firing, but it was a year ago!

Cheers Guys :D They're Autogauge Smoked face series. So when the ignition's off you can't see the face. The shop where I got them from doesn't stock them anymore but there are a few places on the internet you can get them from for about £30 a dial. The oil pressure gauge even comes with the sender! really quite good kits for the money, and they match the DDI dials too :D If you're going to be at Ultimate, I'll show them to you then. I could take the lenses out, but I've already taken out the bulbs!! When I get around to it, I'm gonna fit some UV leds in they're place to illuminate the needles better at night. But I currently have bigger fish to fry...involving the pistons that arrived last week
-
Well it's been off the road since October as the tax ran out and I was gonna do something stupid with the engine, however, I'm still waiting on pistons so I've been busy in other areas. I've been trying to make the interior a nicer place to be, so I've changed the Illumination on all the switches to red and I've (finally) sorted the head unit so I can listen to my ipod through the car. I'm really impressed with the Gamma head unit, it sounds great, matches the interior (even the plastic is similar!) and powers the amps nicely too. :D Now I just gotta fit the boost controller, install the intercooler, build the engine............

Thanks guys, I've got it all working now. 8) Turns out the guy gave me the wrong code all along!!!
-
Err TKD? Tae Kwon Do?
-
Will do, but I have a TKD tournament tomorrow, so it'll have to be on Sunday! Cheers for the help. 8)

Ahhh!!! That may explain why it isn't taking the code, it thinks the key isn't in! If I take it high, it'll think the key is always in...maybe. What do you think?
-
Thanks, that kills off a couple of problems. :) The bottom middle connector controls the steering wheel controls, so S-kont is still a mystery. I'm very interested in the rca outputs (they also include a remote lead, which is nice of VW!) I'm also interested in getting hold of an I Pod interface for the changer controls...hence putting a standard VW tape player into a 1991 Corrado

Anybody?

I'm starting to think I have the wrong code, as I can input it fine, but as soon as I do, "safe" comes up again. I've looked out a pin out diagram and can't figure out what some of the wires are, and chance anyone could help? Any ideas what S-Cont, K-Bus and GA (also Gala) are? I know one of them has to be the speed sensor and another is a lead to communicate with the ECU, but I'm not 100% sure. Cheers Dave
-
Thanks mate, I'll give it another go tonight. Thing is, I inputted the code like you discribed but when I held down the search button, Safe was displayed again and the number appeared! Ther guy mentioned something to do with the ignition as well :? Ahh well, I'll try again if all I have to do is leave it an hour. Cheers Dave

I got a Mk4 Gamma head Unit for the Raddo yesterday (don't ask!), but every time I entered the supplied code, it just came up with "safe" and a little number came un in the display, I stopped at 2 as I didn't want to lock the thing out! I told the guy I'd bought it off of via ebay and he said hes 110% sure the code is correct and there's an order to decode it using the ignition. So can anyone please tell me how to unlock a Gamma head Unit? :? :?
