think all is ok, took it out for 10 miles, oil temp stayed at 102-106 degrees and the radiator fan was running when i pulled up and the needle was on the 100c line no flashing light on the dash, so i think i was worrying for no reason, just that i want the car to be as safe as poss for the mrs

went for a drive and noticed a corrado same as the mrs in the next road, except for the leather!! will probably put a note of the forum address on the window soon!
-
prob not the same thing, but a few years ago i had an escort van. 2am, the alarm went off, went and had a look and noticed the fan was on setting the alarm off. disconected the lead to the fan, spoke to ford who were useless, every garage told me different. mate who i bought my corrado off of, said there was a relay for the fan, replaced that for £10 and bingo, worked perfect!!! maybe theres one for the C aswell
-
thanks, i'll start the car up later on and let you know

yep, its for the 1990 1.8 16v when you switch the fan on, its really musty smelling, like my mk3 golf was before i found the original pollen filter in it!!! maybe i'll just have to keep it running for a while, it goes back on the road this weekend
-
When i put the heater on, its really musty smelling due to the fact it was off the road for 18months. Anyone know where the pollen cabin filter is so that i can change that. Is it easy to get to?

When the C runs for a while, it smells rather musty around the bonnet, like the cooling system needs a good flush through. However, if its at running temperature, the fan kicks in and the temp goes high, but does not flash the red light on the dash. If i turn the engine off and even after 5 mins, unscrew the plastic cap on the overfill bottle, the water bubbles up and wants to overflow. Does this sound like a knackered thermostat or is it normal? its a 90 1.8 16v. Doesn't do this on the mk3 golf!

nice pictures, where was the meet and are they a regular event?
-
does anyone have any photos/part numbers or said part for sale? the mrs starts driving the car next week and i dont want her going through a puddle and not being able to see a thing!!!
-
A corrado driver in berkshire and a hammer!!! well done that man!!

i'm moving to finchampstead in a few weeks

saw another one today, green g60 J***PDF in wokingham
-
there is a black 'g' plate g60 in sandhurst that is parked on a driveway next to a very smart gold mk2 golf, go past it a lot going from one site to another for work
-
tell me about it, i want strict one as the mrs will be driving the C, but in the end it appears the original garage were just looking for extra work. Have been assured that the small fuel leak was done within 2 seconds, tighted a jubilee clip and the rest were no-existant faults!
-
all passed now, seems the original garage were just hankering for work as there was nothing wrong with the car, verified by mechanic and another MOT centre just need to get it insured and taxed now
-
supposedly there is a casing missing and they think that when i went through the flood, water spashed up on a heater panel (matrix?) and caused steam which went straight to the screen, they cant find any signs of leaks does this seem feasible?
-
it all depends on what dyno you take the cars on. As a relevant post, my R1 kicks out 168bhp at the rear wheel on a very true and ungenerous dyno, put it on another and it could easily show 190bhp, maybe the same for cars, put a g60 on a ungenerous one and a g40 on a generous one and the results will look the same!

bloody typical of this country, steal something and they dont want to know, didn't even pay a visit when i had my 3rd R1 stolen last year. speed and they throw the book at you and it seems nowadays you dont even need to speed to get done!! seek legal advice or go to http://pepipoo.com/PePiPoo_frames.htm or http://www.5ive-o.org/forum/index.php

Taken the C back to the place i bought it from so that they can do the bits needed to get it through the MOT and sort the starting problems. With the bad weather we had today, i was driving to the garage and went through a serious puddle, the the windscreen misted up instantly, the heater blows out warm when on the cold setting. Think the car wanted to overheat when stopped, but had the fan on max all the time. anyone know if it sounds like thermostat or the matrix heater valves?
-
well it failed! after standing for 2 years, the handbrake is low on both sides and there is excessive fuel leaking from the fuel filter! it worrying as i've just had a new one fitted. also noted a loose wing indicator and 2 rubbers on the exhaust not attached to the chassis! to top it all, when i got to the car, it wouldnt start, either a dodgy starter motor or a relay, it bumped started straight away
-
there is a gold G40 around this area that also goes to NR, i was behind him on the A3 in my old mk2 8v. Completely standard but thought i'd be able to play with him, was i wrong!!! he floored and and was consistently pulling away from me, didn't realise they could be that quick!!!
-
not me, but that is very, very close to where i live, for the time being anyway! thought it might have been me at first, when i was driving around looking for a place to MOT the car, but alas its not
-
Just booked the car in for its MOT, earliest they could do was Thursday. Hopefully it'll go through as i spent a whole weekend doing a cut/clay bar, polish & waxing. Fingers crossed!
-
there is one in the garage where i got my C from, a bearing in the gearbox packed up and there is only one place in germany making them!!! car belongs to a little chinese man and has had a full interior restore and respray
-
are C's much more expensive to insure than a MK2? need to swap the insurance for the mrs over from the mk2 to the C and i thought there wouldn't be much in it!
