Sorry if this has been asked a million and one times. I have done a search but it goes over my head lol. I have a few questions, which are probably pretty basic but as i know nothing about cars (yet) and cant seem to find a decent site explaining different things im asking you lot :) Firstly, my corrado's ride is abit harsh so im thinking of upgrading the suspension (and lowering a bit) at some point but i cant afford that just yet so what else can i change in the mean time? Ive heard alot of talk about bushes, bearing, top mounts, wish bones etc etc but i dont know/understand what these are and what they do? I think these are all original on my corrado so pressumably they would be worth changing? So what would you recommend i change and could you just give me a quick idea of what it is/does?! Or alternatively give me a url for a site with a sort of car part dictionary or something lol! Thanks for your help!

Right, well as im practically useless i have taken a picture of the gearlever under the gator. I assume that the horizontal bar that i have circled red is where the clip should be situated (and isn't)? And i have a ETKA print out of the gearbox mechanism, yet i cant visualise from the gearbox to the layout to see which part it is. And they aren't labelled under ETKA as circlips. Does anyone know the part no? or which number it is on the diagram (i guessed at 12?)? Sorry for being a thicko :/

Yeah its got till next march on the MOT, which is good as i will be rich by then :) All i need is to buy my insurance/tax friday (as its payday wednesday) and i'll be up and running :D If all goes well i'll pop down in it and see you sometime mate!

ah jackpot! thats exactly what i thought, just wanted to make sure! Circlip must have dropped down into the hole then? :E

anyone have a picture of the circlip in situ? or if not, can someone describe where the hell it should be? sorry for being dense

Sorry i didn't explain that very well. The crackling noise is just when the blower is on and the crackling (almost sounds electrical) is coming from behind the blowers at the top of the centre console. Afaik the rad fan works perfectly (including run on) and the engine doesn't get that hot + the coolant light doesn't come on. I have checked a couple of sensors for dirt but they seem ok, although i dont really know which sensor is which yet lol. The only problem seems to be that the dial doesn't move. Cheers

Thanks for the comments, the heater occassionally has a kind of crackling sound coming from the centre console thing, but it comes and goes. Another thing i have noticed is that the car gets pretty hot and stuffy inside after idling or driving so i keep having to open the windows lol (might be good on winder mornings though), could that be a crap heat sheild?

Well picked up my new (and first ever) corrado last week, which im pretty chuffed with sofar :) Even though i have her sorn at the mo so cant drive her anywhere :'( I guess she is just like any other normal black valver out there but if she is reliable enough for me then that wont last :) I really know very little about cars at the moment (especially corrado's) but it looked the best one for me out of the cars i had viewed so i decided to just go for it. Hopefully this car will help me learn more about mechanics so i know what im doing if i eventually get a more expensive motor! She's a 1991, 1.8 16v with 79k on the clock. There are a few problems with her (that i know of) such as a small gearbox linkage issue, collant temp gauge opposite petrol gauge never moved from 0. And other small things such as worn drivers seat and the heater makes a wierd noise at times. Oh and the last guy had a little white dog which concidering the amount of fucking hair it left all over the car, must be bald. Anyway, here are some pictures of her. And please only constructive criticism as i get enough flack off my girlfriend/parents ;/

thanks paul! Its a 1991 black 1.8 16v'er which i picked up last week for £1300 and im pretty happy with her sofar. Although i went on holiday and when i came back the battery was knackered, so thats the first of many things to renew i guess :) Will take some pics and create a thread later if my camera batteries ever charge up!!

i have a problem like this, although its never hard to get the gear to engage and it doesn't crunch but the gears feel totally out of place and in unnatural places, its quite hard to explain but it seems fairly common.. any help/advice appreciated

buy one from your local scrappy and fit it yourself. Nice and cheap, plus they usually have a 1year guarentee so they will swap it if its broken.
