Thanks Toad & Kev. I must say, it has actually been quite enjoyable developing the kit and I have learnt far more about the C than I would have done otherwise. There truely is a LOT of power available there. Hopefully it will go to a good home and I would love that someone on the forum contiuned where I left off. -

Ok guys, update day and probably not what you were all expecting! After visiting Vince on thursday, and a couple of hours on the dyno and much deliberation, I have decided not to continue with Project Rotrex. The charger is putting out too much power for my engine (in its current state) and Vince thinks the valve timing is out as it it is starting to pink quite badly (and there is still plenty more power left in the charger). Ideally I would need a newer engine to handle the power, or go for a costly rebuild to ensure that I didn't blow it up. I am on 143k miles and the car is now 16 years old (being one of the first VR6 models) I cannot put any more money into this at the time, so sadly I am going to sell up and put the car back to stock. The charger is easily making 15psi, so any potential buyer may wish to get a larger pulley to limit this unless they have a built / good condition engine. I made some of the kit up myself (the intake mainly), but the rest of the bits are built for the purpose. The kit comprises of : Rotrex C30-94 Charger VR6 Mounting Bracket, including idler pulley and all fittings Long serpentine belt for above (for models with A/C) a shorter belt should take care of people with no A/C Traction fluid reservoir, filter, all piping and fittings. 8 x Bosch Red Top Fuel Injectors (required for this power level) Silicone intake hose (50mm and 80mm) see pics in this thread for how it plumbs in. Bailey DV24 Dump Valve 50mm T-Piece for dump valve Vacuum Tubing (for connection to Inlet Manifold) Coolingmist Water Injection system (pump, jet, hose, pressure switch, solenoid valve, wiring etc) This set up is easily good for 300bhp+, R-Techs said it would be good for 400bhp with the right mods. I am looking for around £2500 for the kit (£1000 less than Storm Developments). Any one interested would probably be advised to chat to Vince before deciding as he will advise any mods that may be required (to avoid disapointment!). Drop me a p.m if you are interested, want more pics, want to come and see the kit. I can leave it on the car if anyone wants to see how it all fits together, but I need to take it off soon. It will go up on ebay if there isn't any interest. Cheers Guys Ben (mr_fusion) -

Right then after much swearing, charger back is on. Mocal turned out to be a right pain in the arse though. The kit i have has the shorted hollow bolt / pipe that only allows for the sandwich plate not the heat exchanger. This is all fine and the blanking plate unbolted really easily, however it seems to be one piece with the existing hollow bolt. After reading other threads I know people have mentioned that there are 2 types of blanking plate, and the one I have is one piece and the blanking plate cannot be unbolted from the hollow pipe. a) is this true, or is it just attached really tightly and can be seperated in a vice with a breaker bar b) if not does anyone have the other type of blanking plate for sale that I can use with the kit I have. Also I have a small oil leak now after I put it back together :-( put some silicone sealant on the heat exchanger, but will see if this solves the problem for the time being. -

Hi All Right Project Rotrex update - as requested. noAfter my headgasket blowing on the dyno at stealth, I have now had a C2 Motorsports SS Spacer gasket fitted along with the ARP head studs. C also passed the MOT now with new wishbones and a few minor bits and bobs. New remap is due on the 16th (this thursday), so charger and Mocal kit going on tomorrow. I have got it down to about a 1hr install on the charger now!, Mocal is gonna take way longer i would imagine. Prob more updates tomorrow (temps etc with oil cooler) and then the hard figures on thursday evening all being well! -

Bit of serious news here, please read. I have just received an email from R-Techs in Denmark regarding other users of the forum contacting them and "demanding" deals on Rotrex superchargers. I am not sure how much of this is true and what the nature of the emails he has been receiving. I need to reiterate that the particular supercharger I bought was from ebay and thus I managed to purchase the unit for a very good price and somewhat less than retail price, I purchased the sundry items such as the bracket and belt etc at full retail price from R-Techs after the auction had finished. Anyway, here is the body of the email I received (remember english is not his first language, but you should all get the idea) The advice I gave out on the forum was that it would be better to contact R-Techs directly, rather than buying from the UK as it would probably be cheaper, not that anyone could contact them and get the same deal I got due to the nature of ebay auctions. I am sure R-Techs would appreciate the business and the charger is definately a good buy even at their retail price. I apologise if I have mislead other users of the forum. Martin is a genuinely helpful and friendly guy and I don't want to piss him off, especially if he would be open to group buy type scenarios in the future (if viable with demand from VR6 owners) I hope everyone thinks this is Ok as I have a lot of respect for Martin, along with the whole Corrado community that makes this forum so worthwhile and such a great place to chat and share information. compression will be 8.5:1 as it allows me to run at 17psi. head has had a fe skims though, so maybe marginally higher. just hoping my bottom end holds together! The C cost me £1700 originally (1 and 1/2 years ago, had a Scirocco GTX 1.8 Inj before), charger was £1100, recent work was £1k, other bits and bobs including remapping prob about £1k so actually around £4700 mark total. -

yeah, in the whole scheme of things I am going to be running a shabby looking, but well sorted mechnically, rare(ish) car, that will be pushing 350+bhp for around 3-4k total spend, so actually a bit of a bargain really if you compare it to a newer car with similar spec! back on topic though its update time. C2 Motorsports 3 layer gasket is on its way from the USA (should be here any day) ARP headstuds should be here tomorrow. place that did the headgasket are redoing it for free!! which is a result. They are also changing both front wishbones and the rear powerflex bushes and redoing the MOT. All being well I should have her back for my 30th birthday on the 5th November (which will be nice) Just have to make another booking with Vince after that, quite chuffed that he didn't charge me for the 2hrs on the dyno before the headgasket blew (pissing oil and water all over himself and the dyno, I did clear the mess up though!) -

The charger was supplied with the stock pulley, but yes you are correct I probably would have requested a larger one under the circumstances. Its only when Vince started tweaking the fueling that the charger "unlocked" and started boosting like crazy. Proper linear power too, can't wait to actually drive it! -

Cool, found these http://www.arrowprecision.co.uk/details.php?id=63728 Are they the right ones, and / or can you recommend a cheaper alternative in the UK? -

No torque figures i'm afraid. I was on stock CR with standard gasket, my own fault really as I didn't expect the charger to be producing that much power. Oh well, i do these things so you lot can learn from my mistakes! So... I have ordered a C2 Motorsport 8.5:1 spacer gasket which is good for 17Psi (they have run them at 21psi no probs), unfortunately its from the USA so won't get it for a few days. So C is back in shropshire for the time being, I have picked up some powerflex bushes (from Vince) and 2 new front wishbones with bushes, so these will be going on as well (mainly to pass the MOT!) So, will keep u posted when I get the bits sorted -

right then....... get ready for the bad news! On the dyno at stealth, after a couple of good runs at full throttle. 310bhp no problems... however the charger was pushing out 15psi+ Vince started one more run to get more power and PSHHHHHHHTTTTT HEAD GASKET BLEW!!!!!!!!! Pissing oil and water all over the shop. (a 2 week old head gasket as well) So, car is now going back up to shropshire tomorrow to get fixed. On a lighter note, performance figures look pretty damn good.... Sorry I can't add any more right now as am slightly annoyed.. -

Ok, updates updates... MOT is due 9am tomorrow so car is stock until after then. As long as they don't find anything wrong with the car, charger is going back on on Saturday along with the Mocal kit. Remap is on monday, so fingers crossed I will have some figures for you all Monday night... On another note, it seems like my setup is IDENTICAL to what stormdevelopments are offering. Th major clue is on the R-Techs website in Denmark (where I bought the bits from). http://www.r-techs.dk/page004.html Top of the list of clients!.... I thought my bracket looked suprisingly similar to the one on their site.. -
Unusual ABS Fault - MOT Next friday so need quick fix.

Good News. Swapped the ignition switch, ABS now works perfectly. Definately something to think about if anyone else has an ABS light problem. -

Right then, good news for me! Drained the oil, swapped the oil filter and change the fan switch in the rad. Turns out it wasn't coming on at the lower temp, so now it is, took it for a hard blast for about 20mins , results from the above: Water temp now doesn't get hotter than about 95 degrees Oil temp has now dropped around 15-20 degrees. I was seeing 126 after a hard short run, temp didn't get any hotter than 108 this time. Just got to sort the ABS light now (broken ignition switch is causing it I think) - http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 353#565353 Nice! -

Yeah, that was going to be my next option. From experience getting at the relays is a a whole lot easier than getting at the small screw that hold the ignition switch on.. Oh well, lots to do this weekend: Fix the ABS problem Oil Change Oil Filter Change Fit Mocal Oil Cooler Kit (if it actually arrives today!) Bit of sanding, filling, painting of O/S rear wing (if weather permits) Same for both bumpers. -

I may have found a very useful bit of info on google! http://www.mightyautoparts.com/pdf/arti ... 20light%22 "VOLKSWAGEN WITH CONTINUOUS ABS LIGHT Volkswagen has identified that a problem with the ignition switch may result in the ABS warning lamp being illuminated on Passat, Corrado and EuroVan models from 1993. VW Bulletin No. 93.01 identifies that an ABS warning light which does not go out after vehicle start-up may be caused by the ignition switch/lock not fully returning from the “start” position (terminal 50) to the “run” position (terminal 15). If the switch/lock does not return to the run position, circuits controlled or powered by terminal X (for example headlights, evaporator fan and ABS hydraulic pump) will not function. A non-functioning ABS hydraulic pump will cause the ABS warning lamp to stay on. If the ignition switch binds or does not return smoothly from the start to run position, check for misadjustment of the shift/lock cable, an ignition switch sticking or binding, or a burr on an improperly cut and deburred ignition key."
