looking at the maps, both odb1 5wire maf, you can see they are different, more ignition and more fuel on the 2.9 code there's your increased bhp, not from 100cc's i bet you, take a standard 2.8 odb1, strap a 2.9 inlet on and run 2.9 code you get close to 190
-
i disagree with both those statements. Im saying its not just the manifold, but it helps. I'd like to see a 2.8 obd2 run a 2.9 style inlet manifold
-
yeah, but your comparing a 2.9 obd1 with a 2.8 obd2, the 2.8 obd1 only makes 174bhp correct me if im wrong, but only difference other than 100cc is the inlet manifold and throttle body

I remember seeing a thread somewhere, not sure if it was on here or on vwvortex, used the search on both, but still not found it. Anyway the thread was comparing a 2.8 and 2.9 inlet manifold, basically cut the back off the 2.8 manifold took all the guts out and welded a plate striaght across the back so its like the 2.9 manifold... does anyone remember the thread? any links to it?

dont think that its gonna be an easy conversion for you, its not a direct swap the rear gearbox mount cant be bolted on and u cant change the case for one that has the rear mount holes, as its completly different because the pins for the selectors are in a different place the mounting surface for the starter motor is wrong, not letting the starter engage fully with the flywheel you cant put a normal type 02A/02J diff in there, the clutch release arm and bearing are different as is the mounting holes for the gear cable bracket, also there is not a hole in the box to put a speedo drive into, it runs off the abs on newer cars but on the up side, the reverse idler shaft stabalizer is stronger the 02A based 6speed does exist and its not from a 1.6fsi

I've read recently people have been converting their corrado 2.9 odb1 engines to the later odb2 from the 2.8, what gains are had from doing this? i know the later 2.8 odb2 engines had 190bhp, the same as the 2.9 odb1, so what would be seen from a 2.9 with odb2? i know that the maf, ecu, loom, throttle body & inlet need to be change along with a few other parts, what else needs to be considered?

the gearbox has to come apart to fit the diff, to rebuild it wouldnt be much more bother...

mines a true 2.9 odb1

looking at your graphs, mine does a very similar thing, drops off at about 4200rpm, same with the torque, i'll try scan the graphs in, they were taken from Stealth this sunday, Vince plugged vag-com in and it came up with lambda sensor, knock sensor and crank position sensor faults.

Well mine is sorted, Play in the front near side hub bearing/flange, very strange as there was no humming or noises from the bearing, and were new only a few years ago...
-
I reckon mine is a bent flange... I've spent all evening looking into the problem. everything is tight ie subframe and wishbones, no play in bottom ball joints, i have a spare set of hubs which i know are good i can try tomorrow, so will do that! will let you know my findings!

increasingly annoying doesn't come anywhere near to how i feel about it at the moment! its had new poly bushes, replaced the steering rack, new tie rods and ends, runs on koni shocks and new H&R springs, brand new brembo setup, only things that it can be now is the bottom ball joints although they were new gsf items not so long ago, top mounts but again fairly new gsf items not so long ago or wheel bearings which dont hum and no play in anyway

I have a very similar problem with my mk2 vr, however the brakes are all brand new brembo 305 setup, and did it also on my g60 280mm setup i will be replacing the bottom ball joints hopefully tomorrow night as 2 vw specialist have said it'd be the bottom ball joints.

I've just fitted Brembos to my car, what do you think??
