  1. I've been getting a load of work done on the house for the past 4 months - extension, kitchen ripped out, the lot (and it's still not finished).

As me and the mrs have 3 cars between us and we couldnt park any on the drive I've left my rado at the gym across the road over the winter.

I picked it up on Saturday to take it for an MOT and a set of KW V1s, and there was a note on the windscreen. I panicked and thought (uh oh - I bet the gym are angry that I never moved my car for months).

Anyway it turned out that the note said "I want to buy you car - please call me".

I called the guy up, just out of interest, and he is the guy that has the most amazing range of cars (he's always turning up in something new at the gym - he must be loaded). He has a White Bentley, the only pearl white Ferrari F430 in the country, a Porka carerra (not sure if its a 3 or 4) - white.

He wants to buy my car! He said he's always loved VRs and he could tell that mine was really well looked after, and that he really liked it in white. He said that he thought mine had much fewer than the 132k on it.

It turns out his daughter has a mini, and he reckons she would be better off in a rado (he had an abt golf and an r32 in the past). I think that secretly he'd like it for himself for a drive though.

He says if I let him drive it, I can drive his ferrari!

    Top chuftie or what?!!!!

I'm not sure I can sell him my rado though!!!!! - the going rate for a VR seems like 3k, and she's worth a load more than that to me!

  2. Which tesco did you get it from mate? I have been to 4 tescos and none have a cup holder

I got mine down in Surrey - Weybridge, so not really your neck of the woods? Did you ask at customer services if they had them? The reason I ask is when I found mine it wasn't with the car polish, engine oil etc, it was in those White cardboard 'everything a pound' boxes that Tesco sometimes do. You know, where it might be a toy for the dog, a 20 pack of biros or some clothespegs depending on how they feel. Dig out a recent receipt and phone the store up to save the journey back. Those offers are often only on for a week or two

  3. Nooo don't screw it on. If it were me I'd get some clear silicone sealant from a DIY shop and 'glue' it on with that. I've used it before to stick things on and it holds very firmly until you want to peel it off. Then the residue simply rubs away without leaving a mess like sticky pads.

Might be worth a try anyway :)

Excellent! I will try that :)

  4. I have a Golf V6 4 mo on a Y plate and a Corrado on an L plate.

I've driven a Mk5 GTI and it was a great car, and clearly the R32 is even better, but I decided to have two cars rather than 1 for the following reasons:

    1. The 4mo is a terrific car - all the gadgets I need, sweet torquey engine, 6 speeds are great on the motorway, nice recaro seats and climate control.

    2. The 4mo is a sleeper - I have a different kind of fun to that which I have in my Rado when a big exec cruiser is in my rear view mirror trying to intimidate me, I drop a gear and it becomes a pin prick in the rear view. The look of astonishment on their faces at traffic lights etc is priceless.

    3. The 4mo still feels modern. it has arguably better build quality than the mk5s did.

    4. With the right wheels and a wax, it brushes up nice!

    My Rado

    1. It looks fantastic

    2. It gives much more feedback when driving than the 4mo, and sounds great too above 4K.

    3. I get people talking to me about it. That never happens with the 4mo and would happen even less with a Mk5 R32 I'm sure!

    4. I can't help but look back at it in the carpark. I doubt I'd do that even with a Mk5 R32!

  5. I went a bought this after reading your first post....did you stick it on with the pads that came with it? They don't look like they will last very long.

Yeah, I used the sticky pads that came with it - I agree that they don't look heavy duty enough, but if it falls off I'll consider getting some black scotch pads and give them a try.

I think the best solution is to screw through the bit of the dash under where I mounted it, but I figured I'd see how much use I get out of this the least damaging way before I start hacking away at my rado's plastics!

  6. I was in my local Tesco today and spotted this for £2.50.

I think ideally it should be mounted on a flat surface, but it seems to work ok where I've put it. And at the price it seemed a bargain. The only downside is that unlike the Passat ones, it won't fold down and would be more difficult to screw into place.

It comes with some sticky pads for fitting. I don't know if they are up to the task of a long journey yet, but those of you who are interested in giving it a go, here's some photos:

Let me know what you think!

  7. I haven't seen them but was contemplating them myself for summer wheels. When I checked they said that they probably wouldn't fit over the standard VR6 CALIPERS without spacers, but I could buy them and see if I wanted to trial fit. Something you might want to bear in mind. I love the look of them, but wanted to wait until someone offered them up before I had a go myself!

  8. I'm at my wits end - after an especially serious heater matrix snafu last year coolant got into my carpets, seats etc, and despite heater matrix being replaced and no new coolant leaking anywhere, there seems to be considerable traces of it still in my heater ducts, carpets and seats. The carpets and seat foam feels greasy / oily to touch and after a 4 hour drive yesterday i could taste the sweet flavour of G12 on my lips. Not good. Plus my iphone was clearly sporting an oily rainbow pattern. I have tried the vax on my seats a couple of weeks ago, but it did nothing to break down the oily stuf or clean the foam and just left them with water marks.

What do I need / who do I need to get everything clean? I'm worried anbout the effect on my health of this stuff - I had a blinding headache after the drive and numb face!

    Cheers,

    Mark

  9. Saw a very tidy tornado or was it flash red Corrado near longbenton / four lane ends Newcastle upon Tyne on bank holiday Monday . I was in the wrong car : the beige v6 4mo. I opened the window, gave a huge thumbs up and got a VERY confused look in return. Anyone on here?

  10. Kris and me went there last year, and I'm pretty sure you can get to the banked track with permission. Lots of car clubs still hold days there - every other weekend there's a convoy of minis, lancias, ferraris, mercs etc turning up there for a social.

If anyone is interested, I can pop along and see if they would be up for allowing a Rado meet there? I just live round the corner. it's only one junction off the m25 and a great museum with loads of aviation history - including a Concorde you can go on.

  11. I am so excited having seen the curves (shape as well ad figures).

I'll be in touch again Vince - I have the money for the deposit, but no idea about the insurance or how the missus will take this! If she's okay with it, I'm definitely up for it. Thanks for the photos you sent me the other day as well - been to chocka with work / case of the brad pitts to reply until now!!! PS I have air con, so you can take a look if I pop up over the next couple of weekends.
