  1. On Sunday I pulled off the motorway to head down stanford road towards the show. I had to stop at the lights just at the end of the slip road. I got a nob from one of those motorway maintenance officers. :D The wash and polish of the car wasnt for nothing then

Blimey - getting a 'nob' off a man in uniform? that's got to be the most emphatic chufty ever!

    ahem.

  2. I'm not sure if this is a proper chufty, cos nothing was said to me, but on the drive back from Stanford Hall (sadly alone- no other rados were heading south at the same time or (low) speed as me) I saw a Mk5 R32 in my rear view mirror from about 200 yards back. He pulled up along side so we were wheel to wheel and he gave me a nod and a thumbs up. Then he dropped a gear and was off, whilst my teeth were rattling from my hard suspension on the poor surface.

Even though I was far from the best Corrado on the day, it was great to get the recognition from a 'newer vw' owner.

In addition to that, both on the drive up and drive back there were lots of kids in back seats staring and pointing at my car, probably wondering what it was.

  3. Played it at my mates last night. I used to really love Mario Kart on the SNES back in the day but this just isn't my sort of game any more so got a bit bored tbh!

    Boring,

The game has improved so much. Its brilliant with a few mates and a few beers.

I haven't tried any of the new versions, but I'd love to see how fast I could get fat monkey around the first ghost valley track from the SNES version these days. Does the new game have the classic SNES tracks?

  4. Well the weather has been a bit better so have found the love to play around with her again. Being an Ipod virgin I got one last week and dont know how I survived before. And just wanted to play it in the car. But dont like wires all over the place. So have fitted a dock

It needs some fine tuning but works and only just gets in the way of my new knob. Prob not to everyones taste but was 20 euro. So gave it a go and quite like it. :D

Nice! I've just got one of those nano video things. So do the wires run under the trim to the back of your stereo using the autochanger input thingy?

    Cheers, Mark

  5. There all over the place these bloody geordies  You would have probably seen me at the match then, i was the one with the ' toon army ' top on

Hope you are getting regular trips back up then to recharge that fantastic accent of ours.

By the way i've always loved white VR's which is strange because generally i think the darker colours suit the lines better.....but there's something about white ones :luvlove:

I agree, the lines do look better on a dark Corrado. However, whenever I go past a shop window in my white car, it looks terrific - especially when I've got round to polishing my rims.

  6. Spot on there, i guess you're not originally from Surrey then?

Indeed I'm not - 2 years in Wideopen, 29 years in Monkseaton, 3 years in Surrey. Was back there at Easter watching the Toon beat Fulham. The accent has mellowed a bit since I've moved down south, but I'm still a Geordie :)

  7. Some pics would be great. I've got a week off work soon and I fancied getting all the coolant out of my carpets and underlay stuff. Now the wetaher is improving I thought this could be a nice job to do prior to Stanford Hall.

    Cheers,

  8. I have some already made...all colours..I'd rather be driving.....VR6/G60/16V.... all 280 mm x 55mm..internal...look brilliant...same as my sig.

Superb - that's exactly what I'd like to have. The guys above said it would only cost a few notes for those to be made up - if you don't mind me asking, is it that inexpensive to do based on your experience?

Also, where do we get forum stickers from? Is it still Phil Kett? Or Dinkus?

    Cheers,

  9. I'm sure I'm not the only person who drives another car / van in addition to their 'rado. However, what really annoys me is when I have a Corrado sitting behind me in traffic or something, I want to give a thumbs up and I realise I'm in the wrong car.

I remember back in the 80s there was a craze for people putting stickers on their car saying "my other car is a porsche" etc. Usually it was on some dodgy old shed and therefore an "hilarious" joke and social commentary :cuckoo: .

However, I'd really like a sticker like this to say I DO actually own a 'rado!

    Does anything like this exist?

Does anyone else think this would be a good idea to get made? If so, maybe we can see about sorting some out.

  10. not realy sure it was a chuftie

started a job in a customers house the begining of the week and decided to take the raddo,

no -body home so just crack on. some time later a rather nice looking lady turns up in a volvo s40 gets out and gapes at my car,

she stood there looking at it for about 3 minutes looking it up and down which then she comes in the house

puts her keys on the table and stares out the window...... she then speaks to me and says have you seen what is out side?

To which i reply no what is it? a corrado its realy low with great big wheels!!! she says. so i reply by telling her that it is mine.WOW ive never got a women so excited so quickly, she says grab your keys i want to have a look...... after maybe 15 minutes of gorping at my car she takes me indoors and says she has something to show me :norty: . yer rite.

so she opens the garage door and there under a car cover is a gleaming midnight blue raddo, this is my baby she says, she only comes out when i need to let off steam. well i was stuned by the amount she could tell me about them she realy knew her stuff.

by this time there was only one thing that needed to let off steam and that was me!!! :norty: :luvlove:

needless to say this job is takeing longer than it should.......

I can almost hear the bom chicky wah wah 70's "art" film music playing when I read this ! :salute:

  11. very nice :D a top colour that can show up many others in my eyes (white is the new colour).

most corrado extremists will always say "white is shi*te" basic colour for the cheap models.

Not me, ive always fancied a white c. Black roof, black spiloer and some deep rimmage with black centres. Very nice

Yes after seeing OSV's deep BBS RS with the black centres I'd thought about doing the same with some ASA AR1s or something (basically a licensed BBS RSGT for considerably fewer notes). However, I have a feeling that in the next few years we'll all be going back to more traditional plain wheels, so I think I'll stick to my shiny silver. I still want some other wheels, but polished as after the speedlines turned out so well I enjoy spending many an hour rim buffing.

Oh come on! I mean wheel rim buffing.....

  12. very nice :D a top colour that can show up many others in my eyes (white is the new colour).

i thats just exact opposite reaction mine gets .

owned two white vr6 s in last 5 year (96 plate & now 95 plate). Not sure if candy or alpine... wiil check.

and still got my summer time love...............

Yes, especially since all the new German cars are looking great in white - especially the A5 - I regularly get Chufties. On a sunny day, it's great, plus mine has air con, which makes it even cooler!

Where in the North East are you? I'm popping up there at Easter and was thinking about dropping my car at Kish Executive cars for a retrim in sunset red Nappa leather.

  13. Whilst I can't help as I am in the same predicament as you, I totally agree.

I've recently bought a Mk4 V6 4mo, which is a terrific car, and with the extra torque, brilliant for getting out of trouble and overtaking on the motorway. I bought it because my rado had spent 2 months off the road at the phirm, was unreliable for work having let me down severla times, and being noisy etc.

I just got the rado back the other day, worried it might not be as quick, but it is, in a different way - over 4k revs, but the big diference is how it handles. Holy cow the corrado is so beautiful at cornering. It's only when I went back to its I realised what i'd been missing. Around winding roads and sharp bends it really shows its class, and my gmax kit with powerflex bushes all round means its incredibly tight.

A mate of mine was saying i was stupid having 2 cars when one is a 4mo and therefore pretty decent, and the corrado noisy and old, especially as i have no space for the rado and am looking for storage too, but I simply cant get rid of it. I think it's important we remind ourselves just how good the rado is, even with the problems and the costs.

But basically I'd rather have the rado, than the 2500 id get for it. My long term plan is to have a bigger house with a driveway, and until then I'll have to cope with the hassle, unless someone around the Weybridge area in Surrey can offer me space!
