Are you fitting the hole mechanism including panel and blind? I was going to attempt changing the whole thing but wanted to know if it was the same or not before i started..
-
Iv changed the "thermal fuse" by looking at the guide on this forum but its still the same..
-
Iv changed that too... :? I think the later models are different to the early one's thoh. I think it may just be the motor, still not sure thoh...

Ok this is reall pi**ing me off now!!! Ive managed to get the light going on the control panel but cannot get the heater to work on speed 1 & 2, it still works fine on speed 3 & 4, ive cleaned the connectors/changed the resistor on the motor and even tried about three different heater control panels bit its still the same.. Any ideas anyone? :?

Usual prob with the sunroof where only one side of the runners work, so my question is will a Sunroof Mech from a H reg Passat GT fit into a L reg Corrado VR6??
-
Late mk2 Golf headlight switch's are a direct fit & does the same job if that helps..
-
Thanks.. i didnt think i'd get this many replies though, thanks again for all your comments guys...:)

Yes i checked the power at the plug behind the dash that connects to the heater controls, power there is ok but the light doesnt glow up..:? I pulled the knob off and cleaned around the area with a dry cloth then tested the speeds but still no joy...
-
Iv used the search and tried to clean the connectors, pull the knob off to chek the bulb and everything seems fine.. :? Think il try and change the resistor and see if that brings the heater to work properly.. Dont know what to do about the light part.

What could cause the heater not to work on speed 1 and 2 but works fine on 3 and 4?! Also the light doesnt glow up on the heater panel when you swith the side lights on... Any ideas what could cause this?? :? Oh and its the later type C with the twisty knobs...

How much oil would you think it would use roughly??
-
Thanks for the reply guys, but after you switched to either of the above mentioned oils, do any of your VR's still use oil at all??
-
The car has done nearly 145,000miles now but still drives spot on, was wondering what is the best oil to use on a car with this mileage?
-
Ok will do when i get paid again!
-
Sorry i dont understand what you are saying, do you mean change to braided hoses??
-
I'd borrow one from a friend to make sure it is definately that 1st, once you determine the fault and do a definate repair..
-
Thanks for that 'dinkus', iv got the S3 setup now, just waiting for GWerks to get back to me with prices of the brakets/banjo bolts, once i order them il start the conversion!! :)

My friend had a similar problem with his Golf 16V, turned out to be the screw on the metering head was set too rich, also clean your injectors at the same time, should help or if your looking for a new set of injectors i have a brand new set of Bosch one's for a 2.0 16v and want £50, once you get the car tuned properly after it should be fine..:)

I have to press my pedal pretty hard too in the VR, but then again i havent really had a chance to drive the car properly..Ive got a 288mm 5-stud setup on my mk2 and i think they are abit dangerous without ABS!!
-
Thanks for replying Guys, il get it checked out soon..Gotta get it MOT'd/Taxed 1st!!

At what mileage should you ideally replace the timing chains on a VR? As it stands the car has done 144k and has history till 130k, the engine feels tough and it pulls very well.. When i started it yesterday and held revs at 3k you can hear a slight noise that isnt constant but kind of comes and goes away.. How much does it cost to have these replaced and whats involved?? Any help will be appreciated..Thanks

Thanks steve @, did some searches but still wasnt sure so i gave Darren a call at G Werks who was a Great Help, So Thanks Darren!! Also got some advice from Mike Edwards and it seems pretty straight forward.. So Thanks to Mike Edwards also!! Will give it a go when i get my S3 setup..:)

As above whack harder, get something to hit that goes into a point so it stays in position when hitting or if your worried about smashing the thread put the nut back on a little then get something that just fits in the hole of nut and whack it...If worst comes to worst and it still doesnt move then try to heat the area in question then whack it!! That should work, be careful though and dont whack the hammer on your own hand! Blurdy hurts!
