  1. I think you mentioned this before, I have had few issues with my Corrado and found paperwork relating to tracker. Does anyone know if they always put the battery behind the glovebox? Is that standard practice and if so is it easy to take out or like most things...a ball ache :gag: I got a new Bosch silver...calcium technology I think, however still think its draining quicker than it should but then I'm far from an expert. I know the Samson that was on it is shot after about 2yr, perhaps not even that, that doesn't seem right.
  2. Cheers, just read somewhere about the impellors, I would have through metal best but perhaps not, anyone know what VW supply and if there is a better alternative
  3. Fixed one leak (thermo housing) after reading write up on here but once done another leak and done some more searching and mention of the crack pipe which I guess would have been best to do at the same time as housing. So now I have a leak which seems to be coming from two areas and appears to be crack pipe and water pump neck of the woods. So can someone let me know what should get done, is there anything else around the pump that is best to do while at it or is it just bare pump and crack pipe. On the pump front, are VW best bet, plastic impellors or metal, any makes to avoid if not best to buy from VW. And on the crack pipe, I got most my housing and bits from Ford, can you get the crack pipe from Ford too and if so anyone got the part number. Cheers

    Crack pipe

Yes I've had it nearly everytime, even when gave them part numbers last time for housing and associated gubbings, they still managed to forget half of it. I was even into a dealer not long ago to get new lock and the like for MK3 Golf and the guy was trying to tell me that they were sided, I already knew they weren;t but he continued to swear by it and phoned the VW chassis hotline and argued with Mr hotline, it was comical but quite frustrating, I ended up walking out....went back another day and it was an older woman on the parts and she was spot on and not a chassis number in sight!

Do Ford do this part, just called VW and as usual lots of drama and holding and getting knowhere, cause I dont have the chassis number, they seems totally lost without out it and of course reg no. no good to them as its been changed and doesn't show on their system.

    Crack pipe

Guessing they must last a while as previous owner seemed to have kept all receipts etc and not finding any for crack pipe. Not sure another £20 gets you this bling bling one but yes I'm sure it will be illegal to drive a VR6 then...or impossible :nono:

    Crack pipe

If a plastic one is good for plenty miles and is only £20 or so then it will do for me :)

    Crack pipe

Did you replace yours with one from Ford, I'm after one sharpish and getting stuff from Ford has been easier with regards to getting housing bits and pieces. In the for sale section someone is selling one for a 24v but they are not sure if it will fit a 12v

    Crack pipe

Wonder if anyone knows the offical name for this piece? Also about the custom made one from gruven or whatever they are called, is there a differnce between the 12v pipe and the 24v pipe. If the 24v is different, does anyone know the part number to get one from Ford Cheers
  10. If you are replacing the stat, I used the R32 one and it was fine, what isn't fine is the car springing a leak elsewhere :mad2:
  11. On the smell could it be the oil breather, I say this as when my car was in for a test, one of the mechanics pointed out the breather was split and when I said I never noticed a problem, he said you might smell something different inside the car. If it is there, VW sell you the whole part but Ford can sell you an individual part.
  12. These seem to work quite well.. http://www.ctek.com/EN-GB/Default.aspx I got the middle of the road one from Costco for £35
  13. Well with the water it's like it was before getting the housing and gubbings done, ie sometimes it loses a little sometimes more, doesn't seem to follow a pattern, although I think it seems to be more consistent in losing than before. I have not had the matrix done, think I read the passenger well would be wet if it was the matrix? Not getting the excessive smoke and checked the oil for mayo after run it last time and there was some on the cap but very little, wouldn't describe it was mush, again I read that this can be seen on cars that are not ran regular which is often the way with mine. When it leaks now it seems to be more from the middle of maybe left of middle when facing front of car and it's not so easy to tell where it's actually coming from, seems to be two marks left on the deck after being left overnight. I went to a couple of garages and none had the sniff tester, considered buying a kit I seen on ebay, any good or rank? Snap on used to do one but it was about £60 and cant seem to be it anymore.
  14. My VR is losing water again, pain in the arse it is, had the thermo housing and all that carry on done, it was ok for a while and losing water again! Do things start to blow left right and centre if the HG is on the way out. What kinda kit do you need to do this pressure test, the car doesn't seem to be losing power, is that a good sign...or no sign at all lol
  15. Cheers for that, sounds about right, I have looked through some catalogues to check various discs and all the passat ones I seemed to come across were the same as the VR6. I think the Bora was one that seemed to be far higher. Which model/year of Passat do you think they sound like?
  16. Yes they are 280mm in diameter(A), the disc thickness is 22mm(B), but the total height should be about 28mm© The ones sent to me are a good bit more than that, more like 50-60mm off the top of my head. I cant get a photo of the actual product at moment as not at home but hopefully someone will have an idea as to what car they are likely to be for. The supplier is adament that they are for the Corrado VR6 as the product code matches blah blah....only thing they can think of is the cars brakes have been modified but they haven't it's the standard caliper.
  17. Wondered if anyone knew what discs I have as they don't appear to be VR6 ones... They are 280mm right enough but the overall height is bigger than it's meant to be, I think the VR6 ones are meant to be about 28mm but these are twice that! Any ideas what model they might be for? Cheers
  18. Hi mate, are the hoses still available, the ones that would fit for sure or have you sold them. Cheers
  19. Any crack on the screen fella....excuse the pun ;)
  20. Seems to be a lot of complications with these hoses, the mechanic had a set he was going to put on for me but turned out they didn't fit, so just replaced one of them that was bulging with a standard hose. I wont have a clue photo or not lol, I was under the car for a look when it was up on the ramp but I'm not mechanically minded really, my car is a 95N Storm if that makes a difference to whether they would fit or not
  21. Ah well, you can let me know. So the ones that connect to the calipers would fit but the others wont, is that correct? How come you ended up with the other ones that wont fit a VR6 or will they but just an earlier model? Cheers
  22. Hi mate, Do you still have the brake hoses? If so will they fit standard rears on a 95 VR6? Also do they come with the middle line to fit to as you've said they were supplied in error, what would determine what Corrado they would fit? Cheers
  23. Cheers Gav. I remember him doing it as I was about at times talking to him and held a torch while he done the twin fan belt without taking all apart. I gave him a new R32 stat to put in , he asked if I had an o-ring for the pipe but I never had one, did have all the others associated and he said it didnt matter anyway as it was in good shape. The other ones were a bit ropey right enough.
  24. Had a lad do all the housing for me and would imagine he would have checked that, infact think he did, how long does this pipe run across to the left as the water seems to be more left of central. I bought one of those Bentley manuals but havent had much of a chance too look at it and its not here right now and it probably wont make a lot of sense to me
  25. It seems to be dripping from somewhere above that pipe and above the thing to the left that its connected too, guessing pump? There also seemed to be water onthe lip of the sump, I'm guessing the oily look it left on the ground was just with it picking up some on the way down or is it possible oil/water mix.
