Been looking to get some hoses finding mucho reference to this C & R..great answer if you know who they are and where to find them but I dont have a clue.. So done the google mularky...nothing...they must be C & R .......blank...anyone care to enlighten me. Cheers

I think they are allowed to please themselves are they not. I have found out Ford do as I got quoted the same price as others did when tracking down the housing bits and bobs. However I ended up getting them from a different main dealer as I was going to be in that area for a while so it was more convenient for me but I never even asked price as assumed it would be same across the board. When picked the bits up, it was pretty much on par with the VW price.
-
Spot on mate, ta very much, will get a look on thier screen and see if its the bit for sure, I cant put a photo up as car still in garage at moment.
-
You dont happen to have the part number so can check with them, just when you ask for parts from them they seem hell bent on getting the reg number or your galaxy :D I think you got your stat housing from Ford didn't you, I ended up doing the same but they charged me pretty much the same as VW would have.
-
So is this another go to ford special or is it different on the galaxy? What is the name for this part, anyone know, just intake pipe?
-
It appears to be quite a short pipe, however VW claim the high price is due to the small piece being superceeded and you now have to replace the whole lot, how convenient....for them! I did ask them what it was called but that drew and blank and asked them what is it for again a blank, I haven't noticed the engine running any differently or nothing so wondering how important it is
-
I dont think it's on that diagram, is the bit you are on about Goldie on it do you think?
-
Not near car just now so cant take pic and not really being mechanically minded I'm not sure what its called, tried to ask VW parts man but I think they have less mechanical knowledge than me  If facing the engine, rubber hose to the left of the engine, just near the back of the engine plastic cover with VR6 on it, seems quite short about 5 inches maybe and joins onto another hose. The part that is split is bigger, like a mushroom if I recall correctly. Sorry cant describe it much better, will try get pic later if possible, thought someone with ekta or whatever its called would know what its for.
-
Holy shat, can someone confirm this part is actually made of rubber and not GOLD! £72 plus vat, robbing bas*****!! So this part has been superceeded they say but not allowed to give out part numbers, not that it matters.. However where can this piece of rubber be had for cheaper and what is it actually called. Cheers

Came across a split pipe earlier, cleaned it up and got the part number above 021129101A. Car didn't seem to be any different, anyone know what it's for exactly and best place to get a replacement, is it one of those VW...how much! parts :D

Who're you calling a professional car electrician?! No idea mate, I've never done any auto electrics, I just put 2+2 together to come to a reasonable conclusion .. Not calling anyone...just appealing to anyone who might be more familiar with car electrics and the like than myself. Just got a mechanic to have a look when in for test and he said he doesn't think it looks out of the ordinary. That fuse needs to be in to get the alarm/immob off, what a pain in the neck.
-
So in the professional world of car electrics is what you see in the photo with regards to the join in the wire the done thing? I mean I have done a tiny bit of house electrics in the past and if ever needed to join/extend wire, normally with low voltage stuff I would use a connecting block.
-
Ok have taken some photos to see if it helps, anyone any ideas.
-
It tells you that whatever is on the second fuse is pulling current ... What's the second fuse? Not sure, think got something to do with the central locking/alarm thing. Well the light that is on at the gearstick now never comes on with it pulled out and the button on the keyfob does nothing now. The two that hang down and kinda linked to each other, the bits they go onto are slotted together just to keep together I think. Traced the wiring back up and took off the bottom panel in there and the wire that runs back up from this fuse I have pullled appears to have been joined...badly..I think, well I'm no leccy/mechanic but it looks shit. It was taped up so took off tape to look, seems to have some solder blobbed on it. Does this sound normal or quite the opposite, what I dont get is it's obviously been like this from day one but has not always drained the battery. I could try and take a photo if that would help
-
Update on this finally got the indicator bulb to stay on after getting some better wire, seemed to help. So nice bright bulb and pulled first fuse....still on then pulled second and it goes off, put back in said fuse but the light never came back on.. So what does this tell me, the problem has fixed itself....wishfull thinking :D I never got as far as the main line up of fuses the first two I pulled were dangling around. Oh and the light near the gearbox is staying on, the alarm locking thingy

Riley mentioned this on the forum before... 'Disconnect the earth lead from the battery. run a wire from battery earth to one pin on an indicater bulb. run a wire from the earth lead on the car to the other pin on the bulb. You may find that it lights up better than your headlights if there is a drain.' So basciallyu had a bash at this and the bulb seems to light up sometimes but not always,, connections seem pretty good and sometimes it flashes on/off very rapidly. Any more tips on how to suss out this fault, ie idiot proof guide, dont have a leccy box full of tool just a multimeter. Does it not work just getting a battery reading having someone stand look at it and while somoene else pulls fuses, they would see a drop? Also mean to say there is a rat tat tat type of noise when connect coming what seems to be scuttle part at back of engine bay passensger side
-
Sounds like a good price, will keep that in mind, are this Moura ones on par with the likes of more in your face names so to speak? Is this available at the A1 store to joe bloggs?
-
Kwik fit...mmm last time heard of them was when my Dad went with other halfs Golf GTI as it was a bit loud, apparently it needed a full system at around £300 or something stupid as cat was gassed too.. Turns out it needed a bolt or two, my mate sorted it for nothing and yes it's still on that same exahaust :D I had read a few bits on the site about batteries and some seem to recommend Halfords calcium ones if have a card for discount. Local motor stores...well I'm no mechanic but asked for a front brake hose the other day...turns out they gave me the rear, I mean, how difficult can it be :D This battery I have still has the reciept from last owner and think its a 3 yr warranty and it was peanuts, he had some sort of account.
-
Well battery is good then, thanks for confirming, I was starting to wonder if the battery might be the problem.
-
Still having some odd battery issues, wonder if anyone knows what the normal drop you would expect from a fully charged 55ah battery. I fully charged it, left to rest and it was saying 12.72, decided to leave it off car for a couple of days to see how it would perform. After a day it was showing 12.66 and after a further day its now 12.62. If this normal for a battery taking into consideration its been relatively baltic up north? Tomorrow I will try this fuse pulling mularky, I only have one of those multimeters, is it just a case of looking at one of them while someome pulls each fuse one by one. Have heard about Corrados having dodgy earths, where should I be looking for this and whats best way to clean them up etc. Cheers

Seen a professional looking trolley jack in Costo the other night for what seemed to be a good price for those whith cards

Well apparently some people had been buying VR6 ones from VW and turned out to be faulty, I'm not 100% sure. I was told not to get the low temp one as it can hide problems but I'm no mechanic, some people swear by it others say it keeps the engine too cool... I was advised to stick in an R32 one and its marked 80 on it which I think the VR6 one is anyway, not sure on that. But the R32 fits like a glove and so far so good this end. Sure other more experienced and mechanically minded chaps can comment on this better than moi
-
Right thats the job done, mechanic done it pretty switfly, whole housing replaced and seals, never changed any of the sender things, nor the crackpipe but there was a seal there that might have been worth replacing while apart but never had it. Just incase anyone else doing this and worried about the VR6 stat being dodgy, I bought the R32 stat and so far so good. Temp guage was hardly above 90 even when sat stationery for a good while. Only need MOT and TAX now  ....and chains/tenisoners maybe...to be safe...or take the risk

About to replace thermostat housing & temp senders

Anyone know if Ford garages can charge different prices from other Ford garages, I finally got hold of housing bits and bobs and the two parts about were priced at near £12 plus vat. The main housing was £24 plus vat, thats the same price as VW is I remember correctly -
I see, thats not so bad then, guess that would have been a nightmare had it to come apart again! Robbed, surely they just charge you an hours time...mind you can be expensive hours at a lot of garages
