Storm Warning, is your Storm modified in any way?..cos that premium is excellent!!
-
I'd second Direct Line. Was with elephant before which are also good, but direct line came out slightly cheaper this time. I pay £420 fully comp, with protected no claims which is pretty cheap considering the mods I've got.

My point exactly M15 VW......and it puts more emphasis on the car I reckon. Your plate certainly does stand out. Like it. Although, are you sure you're not a British spy with a plate like that?!.....been watchin too much Spooks!
-
I prefer plates that relate to the car - that way other people can see what its about too, as opposed to your initials which only mean something to you. Rado (is that from having *12 ADO?) would be cool - people in the know would recognise that. That's what I like about my plate, people in the know understand what it means. Plus, selling it with the car makes it more appealing. Each to their own tho.

....I'd rather get a new pack but 200 squids is alot of bunce just for that. Anybody got one on the cheap?
-
Yeah thanks for that excellent advice corradowales! lol Funnily enough, looking at the write-up on your car on ebay, it almost sounds asthough you know what you're talking bout  Kevhaywire, best get the spray gun out tonight then. So as it's to do with the damp, is it not a question of damp proofing it somehow?!....ie, a nice bit of Dampstart!
-
Well, the more I rev it, the worse it gets......is that what you mean? The other morning it only lasted literally 2 seconds and stopped, but sometimes 5 minutes. Hope it's not the coil pack......that's big bucks isn't it?
-
Yesterday morning when I started my car after it being sat in the rain for 2 days it didn't fire up straight away and, when it did start, it sounded like it wasn't firing on all cylinders. This only happens when the car is sat for a couple of days in damp conditions. It lasts for five minutes then its fine. I had new Magnecor leads fitted this summer, the plugs are over a year old but I don't think it's them (had a service 2 months ago). Anything else it can be? Anybody else have that problem?

I agree Dale - definately put the new one back to its original state seeing as the milage is so low. Good little investment me thinks. Isn't it lowered slightly though?...from the pics it looked like the suspension wasn't standard. Looking forward to the pics.

An M-reg mystic blue last saturday at the Castle Combe Audi track day. This one and mine were the only C's there!...loads of MK2s though. Very tidy, M3 lights, non standard wheels. Strangely enough, it wasn't a storm (karmann badge on gearbox and no rear badge) but definitely Mystic blue. -
Sounds like a bargain there! I had the Bilstein lowering kit (with Ventura springs) on my Mk2 GTI and I thought it was pretty good. Only cost me about £180 and the ride compromise was just right for that car.
-
Jim, i'd say that's a 'chuftie' if ever I heard one for the woman to remember you're old C! Nice one.

I was first aware of Corrado's a fair few years back when my chemistry teacher (she was in her late 20's, bit of a TILF! :) ) bought a brand new dragon green 16 valver). Loved it and remember she looked GOOD driving it! I have been brought up around Golf's and have always been into the GTI scene - then saw Daz Yate's C at a GTI meet about 4 years ago and have craved them ever since.....they're a natural progression from a MK2 golf GTI. But yeah, I do wonder what other people think - lots of people I know just don't get it! Think it's one of those cars where the more you look at it, the more you realise it's good looks....bit of a grower.

To be fair it has been foggy quite a lot recently in the beautiful city of Plymuff. Used to leave mine on more than I should until I learnt that it can crack the glass and then saw the cost of replacements  I only use my foggies when I really have to cos I heard too that they are prone to making the glass crack. Foggies do make the car look phat - especially on a lowered one.
-
Cool, cheers for that guys - will have to have a play with that tonight and see if it works. If that fails, will have to crank up the system and drown it out like Blackcat suggested!
-
Got a Stealth parcel shelf at the mo and since I had the Koni's fitted the stiffer ride makes the parcel shelf clunk from the sheer weight of it bouncing up and down when I go over bumps! :x Annoying just aint the word! Any of you guys had the same problem?....got any bright ideas on how to stop it?

Lunch time today - when returning to my car which was parked in the West Swindon Link Centre, to my amazement another Mystic Blue was parked next to me! Reg number N620 A*J? Any takers?.... Always good to see another C in your lunch hour....even better to see a fellow Storm! -
Was stood in a carpark last week in Swindon talking to somebody about 30 metres from my car (which was sat there phatly and minding its own business) and I heard somebody shout out 'Man, check out that VR6!'. I looked round and 5 lads (aged about 18 I'd say) were walking round the car checkin it out big style. Me and the person I was talking too were both laughing cos they didn't realise it was mine! As they started walking off (still gazing at it) one of them was stroking the spoiler!! Made my evening!

Black VR heading northbound on the A419 near Swindon reg L2** APB? OUtside lane, spoiler up, looking phat! Was a passenger in a vectra so couldn't flash! -
Yep phone VW customer car on 0800 711 811, press 3 on switchboard for general enquiries, then quote your reg and they'll confirm it's a storm. They'll send it to in writing on request. I did it the other day just to have the official paperwork (even though being Mystic Blue there's no doubts).

:D Like this thread! Well I'm glad i'm not the only one that has a strategy on parking in busy car parks!! I agree, there's no simple answer really - you can park miles away from the shop but there's a higher risk of somebody breaking in, or if you park in a busy nearer the shop area it's more likely to get smacked by a door or flying trolley!! If I'm forced to park between 2 cars I tend to chose 5-door cars to park next to cos the 3-door cars are alot longer and harder to get in and out of.......BUT the five door cars might double the chance of a ding and also more like to mean KIDS!! Doh!.....think the only simple answer is take the girlfriend's car. Or as STORM 2 suggested, don't go at all and make the girlfriend go! I always get a voice coming from the passenger seat saying 'for f*ck sake, just park it!' cos I drive around for 10 minutes picking the best spot!!

I'm a bit concerned that this thread is selling the C bit short on performance. :( It hasn't rolled over and died for the new hot hatches just yet! Don't wanna harp on about 0-60 times too much but 6.7 secs as standard is still higher than the Clio cup (6.9), MK5 GTI (6.9), Leon cupra r (6.9) etc, etc. Plus, Chipping the VR to get that extra 20lb torque puts you up with the Civic Type R. I've raced a type R and there wasn't anything in it up to 80mph, and then it started pulling away (civics rule between 6 and 9000 revs!). Are people saying that the C's can no longer hit its' claimed speed these days, cos i'm pretty sure mine can?
-
Yep, i'm with you on that one Mr. Ots, the fact that we're pitching the C against today's best hot hatches (and there's not much in it IMO) says it all!
-
I'd steer well clear of k-tek in that case - they obviously aint got a clue. I've got the better of a 172, but not come up against a 182. Besides, they're for girls called NICOLE.
-
I think the Focus RS was a lousy attempt at the rebirth of the RS brand especially seeing it get annialated by the Cossie on the TG 'old verses new' feature!! It should have been 4WD for starters!....but they've got rarity on their side. The Integra type R would be a good choice if you were happy with the colour! would you want a white one?....or a white one?! It seems the 350Z is the winner so far (despite being RWD).....
