    Exhaust

The DTM back box is a bit too 'in your face' IMO, especially for a mk2 golf. I think the Scorpion Monza (which is the twin squared back box) looks and sounds the part whilst remaining less understated (which is what all Mk2 Golf and C mods should be all about!)
  2. Right all this talk bout cleaning cars, I'm itching to get out there and spend some hours on mine. From reading this and the thread about removing swirls it seems I should do: 1. Meguiars NXT shampoo 2. Poorboys SSR2.5 (for removing swirls and hair line scratches) 3. Meguiars Step 3 - for a Furk'z style finish! Sound about right?
  3. Not sure about the Conti's but I had Eagle F1's on my Mk2 Golf and they stuck like sh*t to a blanket! They were only 185's aswell but what contact there was to the tarmac was very impressive!
  4. Another update on the faulty damper, sent a letter to AmD nearly 2 weeks ago and still no response  They really couldn't give a sh*t! Have now written to Koni to see if I can sort something out directly and get my local garage to do the work - AmD are getting no more dollar out of me. Spoke to Vince at Stealth today and he said that he doesn't claim back labour but does the work himself as a gesture of good will - something known as good customer service! Still tempted with new OEM shocks and springs but they're over 500 smackers from the stealers! How much do ya reckon I could sell my Koni/Eibachs for? (they've only done just under 7k mile and one of which will be new!)
  5. I agree with TheWizardofOdds except the rear lights - the originals are very dated...M3's all the way (but make sure they're the M3 crystal smoked cos the unsmoked ones are too bling)
  6. Does that include the long cover between the 2 bonnet hinges at the back of the engine bay? That's not a standard cover is it? I need one.
  7. Mine does! Is this normal then? Sounds horrible when you close the door with the window down!
  8. Love the RH cups - anything with a deep dish tends to suit the C. A cheaper option might be the Brock B2's - I bought some from style dynamix for my MK2 golf, but seen them on C's and look class. Agree with Billinjahg60 that TSW's now belong on Nova's etc. - anything that you can pick up from Halfrauds/Ripspeed avoid!! BBS all the way for me!
  9. Try replacing your silver VW grill badge for a black one, give the grill some serious 'back to black' treatment and you'll see it makes alot of difference! Can't understand the debaged look unless you drive a cr*py french car and wish to hide the manufacturer! :)
  10. I've recently had problems with my Koni dampers (one of the seals has gone causing fluid to leak out) and as a result going through the decision whether to go back to standard dampers/standard ride height. Since its been lowered, i've notice a couple of annoying rattles and the stealth parcel shelf clunks. It used to be silent and smooth on standard. Its just the crazy ride height which puts me off. Can you really use lowering springs with standard dampers? I love the standard BBS wheels (speedlines and solitudes) and wouldn't ever change them. The car was designed for 15's so they're staying IMO. I went up to 16's and 17's on my MK2 golf and regretted it, so went straight back to 15's which felt lovely! As for the orange lights, they do date the car considerably - the clearer ones certainly bring it up to date. As long as you keep all original parts, no worries.
  11. Yep AmD supplied and fitted last April. Hmmm. Letter to AmD first then?
  12. Cheers guys. I'll write to Koni first and try and claim without touching AmD and if that gets me nowhere I'll speak to Vince at Stealth and see if he can help me out! Considering my bill last year was £3k, you'd have thought AmD would have been a bit more helpful! I only went to them cos I heard good things, but I'm taking all my business to Stealth in future.
  13. Just got details/quote back from AmD to sort out the faulty damper (I asked to have both front ones replaced) and it's £250 for the dampers and £192 for the labour! Course AmD's hourly rate is approaching stealer prices anyway. What I need to do is get hold of Koni UK to get them to stump up the labour and AmD won't do it on my behalf. I told them Stealth would claim it back themselves and their response was "well that's Stealth" !!!! Looked on the Koni website and their customer services is through a company called POTN.com which seems a bit odd. Anybody got any suggestions as to what I should do now? :?:
  14. This really kicked off the obsession with vw's - had her 5 years and never missed a beat! Realised I needed something more powerful when I was struggling against TDIs! The VR6 was the answer!
  15. Come from a VW/Audi family. Grew up in Mk1s and Mk2 golfs. First took note of a C when my tasty Chemistry teacher turned up in a brand new J reg dragon green valver I think it was - she was dead chuffed with it! I told myself i'd have one eventually, then from a natural progression of polo to MK2 GTI I reached the VR6 pinnacle. May have to sell for MK4 anniversary GTI diesel later this year....but I know it won't be my last C! Gotta get one at a later date to keep for the future so that if I have kids they can also experience one!
  16. I was looking for that one! Settled for this one instead for even more of a bargain price! Definitely worth having - the amount of comments I get from it
  17. What does the VR pull like after 140? Never tried it! Does it sound strained at 150?!
  18. I thought the S4s were limited to 155
  19. I guess the change from 17s to 15s makes a difference in the ride too! If that's true what you said Kev bout Stealth claiming back the labour then I'll get onto AmD again then cos they should be doing the same. Not happy bout them only replacing the one - i agree things should always go on in pairs. So choices choices - smooth and soft ride, daft ride height, better for selling and lower insurance verses cooler looks, better handling and no fillings left! :?
  20. MoonlightVR, that's tempted me even more! Did you revert back to standard to help it sell? It looks like I may have to sell in the summer and was wondering if it would be more appealing on brand new OE suspension.
  21. Quick update on the faulty damper, spoke to AmD and they said Koni would replace it no problem, but Dinkus was right, they won't cover the labour cost. I think that's a bit off really - not only will it involve labour to replace but also getting it opti-lined aswell. Kev, did you not try claiming anything for the labour? Seriously thinking bout going back the standard set up - I'll loose handling but gain that silky smoothness again and the lovely 4 x 4 ride height!
  22. Travelled for a few junctions of the M4 behind the Nugget yellow 1.8T thats for sale (J*** KCV) this afternoon.
