Thanks, for the advice. What does repacing the studs involve? Will I need to tap new holes?

Does anybody know if there are any companies that make a scale model of the Scirocco and Corrado. Ive found Die cast, but I want to build them myself.
-
Im not and "engine guy", I can do a little, but mostly I do electronics and fabrication. Unfortunately since I got my corrado, Ive had to learn how to do some mechanical work as well. Its just to expensive to get all this stuff fixed. My question is how bad is it to do a head gasket on a 1990 G60, stock engine. I will, as always have some help from a mechanic, and I did take auto shop in school, but he has chronic athsma, so I have do most of the work. Am I getting into something I cant handle? Ive talked to a 6 mechanics and only 2 will even touch it.

Thanks, you guys have been alot of help Ill make sure my mechanic has all that information. Unfortunately, if found out that somebody took my car for a beat run while the shop had it. Good news is, I wont be paying for any repairs. Bad news, I no longer have power steering, or a fully functional stereo. I expect to find more when I get it on the lift at work on monday.

Thanx. I thought so. Just one more question. Any Idea how long it should take to change the head gasket? My mechanic quoted me $800. Including parts that works out to almost 10 hours of work at his hourly rate. Needless to say, Im looking for sombody less expensive.

Ok, Im not to "engine freindly". I do electronics, and very simple engine work. Im sure Im going to sould like and idiot, but I gotta ask. I was recently told that my head gasket is blown. When asked what kind of engine it was so that I could get it replaced, all I knew was 4 cylinder 1.8 liter. Its a 1990 G60. My question is, is this a 16 valve engine or and 8? I thought it was an 8. My other question, why can nobody resist messing around with our cars when they go to the shop? It really bugs me.

I figured out the light was on pretty quick pretty quick, I have a 2 way alarm so when I tried to arm it it told me the hatch was open. I just didnt know where the switch was, thanks for the help. BTW, im reading this sorta early in the morning, took me a second to figure out why you guys kept saying "boot". I got it though. Just thought you might find that a little funny.

I just got my car back from the body shop, I got rear ended a couple of weeks ago. The repair job looks great, but now my trunk light wont shut off. I havent been able to find any pin switches so im not sure how the light works. Id like to know before I go back to the body shop and complain about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I checked out your video, the flames from the tailpipe kinda startled me, even though I knew it was coming. Looks great.

Like it say's. "One off", custom work. If you think your the only one to try it in your Corrado I wann know about. Yes, Im looking for ideas. Not that I dont have enough of my own, but I always like to know what other people are doing to their cars, its how I make my living and its my hobby. Ill start, I took out the back seat of my rado to make room for the system. Calm down fanatics I kept it. Also did under carriage lights among many others, more to come. Ive done alot. Check it out if you want. http://custom.autos.yahoo.com/gallery/o ... dOe9De.ckF Even if you dont though, Id love to hear about you custom work on your Corrado. Will

Well I ran a few test today. I found that the realy on the drivers side seatbelt motor, which is stuck and unplugged, with the fuse out, was coming on all the time. I took that out and the current drain on the battery dropped from .42 to around .11 amps. I am still a little concerned as I did read somewhere on this forum that the draw should only be around a few hundredths of an amp. I do have alot of aftermarket (im an installer) electronics in the car though, so the memory wires on some of them combined with the alarm/remote start, could account for some of it. Thanks for the help though. Lets hope it starts in the morning.

I know someone will tell me to use the search, I get it all the time. I cant find anything this time. So, heres the deal. I am now on my 3rd battery in under a year. I found the wire on the battery that is the source of the current draw and dis connected it. When I do so the battery stays charged. The problem is, it seems to be a main power feed for the car, so nothing works without it. There are 3 wires on the positive terminal,on that goes to the starter and two smaller (about 10 gauge), that goe somewhere else, one of those is pulling .42 amps and is killin my batteries. Anyone have any suggestions on where to look for this current draw?

It all depends how I feel like driving. Ive got a kickin system in mine, took out the back seat to do it (check it out, http://custom.autos.yahoo.com/gallery/o ... 0T0tTe.ckF). If I feel fast, Metal, Rob Zombie, Slipknot, System of a down, Ect. If I just feel like cruisin' and getting a Bass massage, Rap, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, mabey Usher. When I need to relax, Clapton, Skynard, B.B. King. And for that in between mood, A little Swing, Brian Setzer is good for that.

I learned to drive in an '84 Scirroco, my dad of course. I now own the car I learned to drive in, and unfortunatley it is sitting unused for about 3 years now, spare parts for my dads 3 Scirroco's. I grew up to be a auto electronics installer, and I decided when my Pontiac died that I needed something unique to show of my skills with. I thought about my Scirroco sitting at my grandmothers, but it wasnt enough, and it needs more than I can afford. I remebered my dad taking about the Corrado at times when we got into discussion about the S's, so I checked it out. I dont know how easy it is to find one around the rest of the world, but I had never even seen one, except in pictures. So, When one came into the shop one day to have the alarm removed so the owner could sell it for parts...I had to buy it. I got a bonus, I love this car. Ive still only seen one other on the road.

Just looked it up... I knew it was a Ford. It was a Pantera. Also, saw a Lamborghini Countach on the way to work about 8 years ago.

Is that window relay in the smae place in all raddo's? Mines a 90 G60 and the past week the battery has been drained in a matter of hours every time I shut the car off. Also, could it still happen if the window motors arent connected, mine havent worked since I got the car(the one from the driver door is missing), and I haven got a chance to put the new ones in yet.

I dont see too many people from US on hee but here it is anyway. I saw a real nice red one on RT. 9 westbound in Framingham MA today. I saw mine too...does that count? -
I get out of my car one night and hear a horible grinding noise from behind the drivers door. Turns out the seatbelt motor is jammed. I forced the buckle as far back as it would go and unplugged the motor. Aside form it being almost accros my face, the seatbelt warning light is on...and I kinda like the auto seatbelts. Ive searched but can find an answer to this one so far. Anybody know how to fix the motor? Id like to have so idea of what i should be doing befroe I take out the motor.

I back into the driveway at my aparment building when I get home at night. When I do so, I can always see the reflection of my tail lights in the cars already parked there. The other night I noticed that my revese lights were not on. And they havent come on since. They just stopped working. I searched for this problem, didnt find anything. Has anybody had a similar problem?

Ive got a similar problem. The drivers side latch is sticking. If I spray it with white lithium grease, it'll open once. But I have to do it every time, and I dont always have grease around. I always get it open with some jerking and wiggling shile someone hold the handle and everything "seems" to be working properly(obviously its not). Ive been driving around with my hood partially latched for a week now as Im having trouble with my charging system and keep needing to jump the battery. Someone help...please.
