Which TDI engine is it? May possibly be turbo overboost which is common too. Really need to get it VAG-COM'ed, give the Volkswizard a call, he's in B'ham which isn't too far from you.

16 Year Old drives Corrado VR6 in VW Racing Cup!!

They're both very talented drivers, I know Darrelle was clued-up about the correct lines at some circuits from a very early age. Fortunately he's got his feet firmly on the ground too, like father - like son. I hope they both do very well this season. -

Well I'm putting the Vento up for sale with a view to getting a V6 with some form of 4WD . . . Looking at Bora's and A4's, might end up with a Skoda Rapide though! -

Hey Stu, how's it hangin? Here's a shot of Thackeray's Rado http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=1522 -
Keep the Speedo's Nick, they look damn shekshy on your Rado. Kev, we'll have to meet up again to take some B&W shots with the new wheels.

Still think they looked better on my Vento VR Looking good there Nick.

Trig - it is indeed a 2.8 VR6, I'm reliably informed that the 2.8 is a tad torquier than the 2.9. Incidently changing back to 15" (205-50-15) wheels has gained me an extra 2 MPG over my old 16" Speedlines (215-40-16). The weight of the Speedline's is practically the same as standard alloys, it's the extra width that saps the juice a little more.

I have an OBD1 Vento with a BRM chip (no other engine mods) and I average 29.5 MPG overall with the MFA quoting me 30.6 MPG so it's not too far out. Normally fill-up with Shell unleaded at the same pump each time when the tank gets to a quarter full. I have a 5 mile commute to work and do a 100 mile motorway trek each weekend so it get's good allround use.

Thanks Kev, I still remember your expression when I took you for a spin If I do wean myself off the Vento I'll let you know, I know you'll look after her My Eton Hex10 sub is 4 Ohm, seems fine since I turned the gains down a smidgen (barely a mill') on both the Genny and the 9835.

Wise words Geezer . . . Here's a couple of erect spoilers for you!

I quite like Corrado's, especially in silver but I need a practical four door car. Cheers for the compliment, I've got a few more pix in the gallery. If I could afford it the Vento would be a weekend car then have a newer 4WD car for everyday use.

I get bored fairly quickly with cars, having said that I've had this Vento for over a year which is good going for me, all my other car's have been replaced withing 6 months. Just come back from a spirited drive near Mallory Park, nice fast country roads is where this car scores, makes me want to keep it but . . . . . . just feel it's time to get something different now.

Thanks Luke :thumb right:

Before I get bombabred with PM's, the photo is an old one with the wheels I sold to KevHaywire.

I love my Vento VR to bits, there's not much else for the money that'll match the power/torque and that special VR howl. . . Looking at Audi A4 1.8T Quattro's (B5) and Bora V6 4Motion's, just like my stealthy Vento they're quick cars for reasonable money. 1.8T is easy to tune and the V6 4Mo chassis can be tuned (Haldex, suspension etc), not keen on the A4 2.8 30v, it's just a cruiser. Anyone have any experience of these cars?

The place is probably AB Butts in Frog Island, they are supposed to be excellent auto electicians specialising in trucks mainly but they do a fair bit of car stuff too. Not cheap hence I've never used them! As above, you're best to check Audi-Sport and Audifans forums etc. Audi cabbies are notoriously hard work, my mate had to rip out most of the rear trim to replace a faulty leccy aerial. Have you tried Lion Garage before? They "may" be able to trace the fault(s).

Low profile tyres are noisier anyway. I've just changed from 215-40-16's to proper 205-50-15's and the ride is plush, grip's nowhere near as good though but that's probably because I have worn Kumho Ecsta tyres now.
-
I used to have a set of T1-S's on my old mkIII GTI, they were quite noisy especailly under braking. Perhaps the rubber wears out unevenly causing the droning noise. Might even be prudent to check the sidewalls for bulging. You can tell if it's bearings by driving round a corner at low to moderate speed, if the noise increases on the loaded wheel then that one has a worn bearing.

If you ever sell the Vento I'd like first refusal  Your Rado looks deeelishuss! :notworthy:
-
NickVR6, that's a nice black Vento VR in the background there 8) Is it your other car?
-
I've seen them on eBay, I know nothing about them but they look a bit cack. I do have some funky 5.25" Pioneer two-way components for sale cheap if want though

Get yourself onto the TalkAudio forum and get all the info there. I may be wide of the mark here but I think a chap called "Mason" on that forum may be able to steer you in the right direction with regards more info/prices etc.

Those Macrom units are very high quality speakers, keep them and try to get the matching midbass/crossovers to complete the ensemble!
