Just had mine in for MOT, but failed due to missing brake and reverse lights (I wasn't aware of this, and it have worked before) - but presume it might have happened after doing some other things, replacing a crank seal, and also taking out some older stereo stuff. Anyone got any tips on what might be "common" for these two things to fail ?. EDIT: The cable are hooked up in they bay itseems)

If it turns - are you sure it get's fuel ?. Although I think the problem mostly relates to "warm start" problems, and it will eventually start, but takes some cranking it also could be the non-return valve in the fuel pump is failing, easiest/chapest fisks is eventually to get a in-line non return valve and put in line with the pump - using the original hose + some fuel hose. Also the crank position sensor failing would cause no fuel - but IIRC should come up in VAG-COM

Is the VR6 Power steering pump same on LHD and RHD cars ?

Ok, anyone got any idea if this connection can be turned the other way ? (unscrew it somehow or is it part of pump ?) -

Thanks for the PM (didn't see it before today) - a bit hard to see the lower connection - I would presume it differs from this one: This is the one out of my 1991 Passat VR6 - I think my Corrado have the lower pipe bending the other way around........... -
Thanks appreciated! :) Will have a look on the new one when I get it, and compare.....before doing the swap :)

Thanks - here is a pic I got from the dealer (I guess he have it in his catalogue) - as it was some delivery time on this item: From your pics it looks similar ?..... Cheers

Might be - I pulled the one I have in spare of my older Passat VR6 - and that differs from the Corrado IIRC the pipes go in oposite directions, or something like that....... -
Anyone have a picture of how the original gasket looks (when it's off, and maybe dimensions as well ?) (I put in an order from the dealer for that gasket, but will be a while until I get it....)

Any parts to take of Passat 35i (both original and facelift)

Anything else you can think of ?. Would the heated seat wiring loom etc fit ?. -
I think the second one is oil pressure switch - without knowing that engine...... The other one I'm unsure on where exactly it sits on the engine.....?

Happen to know if this "kit" (vw part number): 3B0051751 is compatible - as this one refer to it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-BORA-VENTO-LUPO-POLO-CORRADO-Roof-Aerial-Antenna-Gasket-Seal-Nut-REPAIR-KIT-/291308063177?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43d35049c9 Seem to be same used on several newer models - and thought I'd check with VW if they still have these in store.....

Anyone know where to get the gasket from ? (Local dealer could not find it in their systems....:( ) - Pnly seal needed for mine I think.

I recon it's the same for both Left hand drive and right hand drive?. However - when I pulled one of a Passat VR6 - I noticed there was differences from the one I have on the Corrado - the connections went in opposite directions IIRC. Are all Corrado VR6 pumps the same ?. Also anyone know the price of these pumps from VW in the UK ?.

replaced a bad crank seal last week - hopefully no more leaking....... Today had out the hood release wire and oiled it with vaselin oil, and greased up the hood locks.......now nice and easy release :)

Just recently pulled the transmission to replace the crank sealant, also drained some of the water due to having of the valvecover, and top side panel, but I'v noticed some small occurance of corrosion in the tapped of water after it settles...., and after talking to an older mechanic he had some of the same trouble on his triumph when it sits for some time (his triumph is a summer car - and so is my Corrado so it sits during winter). I'm using the red G13 from VW - which works fine, it's good on cooling etc, but I was wondering if anyone got any experience with the stuff that's not ment to be used with water - is it better?. Also I use pure distilled water so that shouldn't affect it either......

Have you checked with VW ?
-
Yea, you can get the part from Ford - I got mine there a while ago - However after playing around in vw's parts catalouge VW actually DO have this part as a standalone - but they have to look in in the Sharan - so might still be available: Part number: 7M0 128 101 (I don't think there should be any differences to this one):

As I'm about to scrap a 1988 Passat 1.8 I was wondering if there is any parts I should rip off it - that maybe would be suitable to keep as spares for the corrado ?. also I'm scrapping a 1996 Passat 1.9 TDI - any parts from this ? (I'v taken out some of the wiring as that seem to be much the same as the Corrado). Any tips on what's worth keeping appreciated :) Cheers!

Victor Reinz makes rubber gasket's for the VR6......

Anyone ever used D-174-003-M2 sealant (for chain cover) and knows the "drying" time?. Thinking of how long time it takes to "set" (ie how long time do I have for installing *both* covers....lol...:) )
-
Yea, did so last time me too, but got a leak (I do however think it was due to an aftermarked seal, as the OEM one seem to be easier to slide into place, and there is some physical differences from the oem one) - but was wondering how it actually sits if one uses the VW Tool and sleeves as refered to in the corrado manual?. Have you had any problems with the seals sitting flush ?
-
As I'm changing the crank seal there is a edge where you insert the seal, but it's somewhat "rounded" off for easier insert - but should the seal itself sit flush - or should it be pushed as far in so it will sit more or less "flush" with where the "beveling" - or whatever it's called in english ends ?..... Any info about this ?
-
Are these 288's something that bolts straight on ? (apart from the hose-connection)?, any part numbers for these parts ?.
-
What is the best way to upgrade the Corrado VR6 brakes ? (is there any "plugin" mods that will accept original rims, and original hoses/pipes etc...)?. What are the different options - I think I'v heard about a Brembo kit sometime - is that still available ? - and is it compatible with speedlines ?
