  1. Also check out the "non-return valve" if it's the same stuff as the original VR6 pump: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=87352&page=3
  2. I seem to have trouble replying private messages - any knowsn problems ?. Atl least they don't seem to show up in "sent" items......:( Any way to fix it ?
  3. J.C: Not sure if the messaging works - as I can't seem to send you any messages - but I'v sent the payment for the ECU. regards
  4. After my own "nightmare" with starting problems (though always did start, and was especially cumbersome when hot) and after changing out several more expensive parts this is the thing I would check first: Didn't have total failure of start myselfe - but tried and changed out quite a few parts before I found the culprit on my Corrado. I had intermittent starting issues with the C from the day I got it (the guy selling was honest about it) - but especially when it was warm it was a hard car to start. Turned out it was the "non-return" valve in the fuel pump that's not doing it's job - actually VW issued a "fix" for this problem - which is basically a hose with an inline non-return valve builtin, but sadly discontinued. I ficed mine with a non-return valve from e-bay and some extra fuel hose (so I didn't have to cut the original hose) - took of the original hose from the feed line, and inserted the non-return valve in between the pump and the original fuel hose. Never had any starting issued after this Image of fic on my car: the original fix from VW looked like this: This was a "known" fault of some of the VR6 fuel pumps,,,,,,ie the issue of the "fix" from VW :)
  5. Yea - my C have double airbag, don't think it was an option in the US - My Corrado originated from Germany in it's time though (was actually a VW "factory" car in the beginning - so never sold new lol :) ) - it was on some special VW "plates" VW are allowed to use within Wolfsburg if I'v understood correct before it went to Sweden. Pics of the airbags:
  6. I got a quote of about £400 here in Norway recently - holding out for my Germany trip, and will buy it down there I think :)
  7. Thought so too - but saw figures of about 6.6 sec on 0-100 km/h isn't that roughly in the ballpark of the VR6 ?
  8. I'l take the ECU if you can ship it to Norway (presuming shipment cost isn't thru the roof :) (it shouldn't be) :)
  9. Anyone know how these two compared in performance ?. Will the corrado "cope" with it or ? (or close?) :) hehe
  10. Yea, agree on this - I guess in the end VW is a different company today, where maybe the Corrado doesn't fit the lineup - though they put out the Scirocco, but today they have Audi, Lambo etc....so - and not sure I really want to see "modern" car with the Corrado badge anyway....lol...:)
  11. Regarding VW's earnings I'v read quire a few different things when it comes to the Corrado - some stating VW did loose money on the Corrado - other stating the Corrado was never set up to give VW a big profit - more to be a "show off" car, and so a successfull car, but non the less it eventually where cut off - but is there any info if it was due to losses, or just that VW changed their focus ?.
  12. haha - the first thing that go me hooked on the car - even though I never knew it was the Corrado but I once notice it from behind at the VW dealership (was sitting in my fathers car waiting for him to pay for some service or something when this car came driving in and parked right in front of me) as a kid and thought it was "kick a** car" -......many years later I realised it had to have been the Corrado I saw....lol...:) it must have been a thing ment to be - as the Corrado was never sold new in Norway (maybe 2 cars where taken in as a "side import" by the dealership)....:)
  13. hmmmm, weired as it did come with a full speedline tire - I know the car was used at the VW factory area from new (VW had it on some sort of VW plates they can use in the wolfsburg area) - so maybe that's the reason it got full spare tyre.......I think it is produced very late 94 though - but it is one of the later ones as it have airbag etc....
  14. My Corrado VR6 came with a original Speedline spare tire - but does this actually fit in the spare tire bay ? - I mean is the carpets molded to accept it or was it ment to have the "normal" slim spare tires?. Any pics would be appreciated - as mine never came with the original carpet in the rear - only a cut out metal plate with carpet glued to it. I'v fitted a "slim" tyre to it for time being (due to longer trip to Germany - so want a "flat" rear compartment - not sure if that's how it was originally ment to be though :)
  15. In my mind the Corrado kinda keeps upto date with modern design - not that it looks the same, but I think it still looks very modern to a lot of other cars of the same area - is there any special design feature that "does this" ? - I'v been thinking the curved lines that goes back and upwards, and the kinda "bodied" rear part..... Or is it just so got dam** timeless.....lol....:) A bit off topic chat on a fridays night......................
  16. Welcome back - the Corrado works in mysterious ways lol :)
  17. And before the trip to Germany - the Speedlines are back on - after powdercoating (done a few years ago I guess :) )
  18. started stripping out old mad stereo wiring, and re-wiring. Cheanged wipers over to Lupo Aero wipers - hopefully get some better wiping :)
  19. I had intermitent startup problems with my VR6 (not rough idle though) and replaced quite a few things before I got info the fuel pump non return valve is notorious for failing - so much VW made a fix for it (basically a hose with a builtin non-return valve - but this is sadly no more available from VW. I replaced with an ebay non-return valve, and some fuel hose (so I did't need to cut into the original fuel hose). My problem was mostly a "hot start" problem - but j[ust thought I'd mentioned it as it's a quick/easy and cheap fix if that is the cause :)
  20. Got air condition drained (almost empty) - changed out leaking o-rings on the compressor - refilled, hopefully now will hold......cooling the car down to about 3C in 20+ weather :) Also got new tyres for the refurbished speedline rims as they are going on before a trip to Germany later this summer :)
  21. Yea looked in the manual - but it doesn't say much realy and the drawing they made looks like this:
  22. I'v made a quick drawing that shows 2 alternative I'd picture - but if alternative "bass2" is correct I_'m wondering why the plugs on the wires connects straight into the connector on the tweeter - also the crossover cable is marked "tweeter".
  23. If I knew this set came with a crossover cable instead of a "crossover box" I'd most likely buy something else - but anyway. Can anyone give an explanation on how such system is supposed to be installed?. Are one supposed to join the + from bass element and + from tweeter and then going onto the crossover cable and then to one channel from the player/amplifier? (and the same for "-") ?. I'v added a picture showing similar speakers - with the crossover cable pictured as well.
  24. Yea will do - Think I'l take my chances with the leakage on the Germany trip - if I don't get time to do the job prior :) If it starts pouring I'm hoping the Germans can fix it....lol....:)
