Great stuff Tony! Looks like you had a great time, just like the rest of the ringers :) Still haven't found any track photos of mine yet :( Those carousel shots look great. Can't wait to go back again eh?

No problem using a Corrado as a family car. Plenty of room in the boot for the 'stuff', car seats fit nicely in the back and the front and no airbags to worry about with the rear facing starter seat. My daughter is now five and given the choice it's dads VRT all day long (can we go fast dad!). She must think everybody else's cars are really dull though 8) Never really understood this whole 'need a bigger car' thing, unless you have a dog. My dads Allegro never had a problem taking a family of 4 on a camping holiday. All the camping stuff went in the trailer and the rest was piled in the back with my sister and I. That said, we do have a Golf for everyday stuff, but after a recent camping trip in the VR, it doesn't really have that much extra room. We managed in the Corrado no problem and it's much more fun driving the VR!

Hi Jon, should be all sorted now, give it a try. Dave

VR6 rebuild - Downpipe and exhaust tacked up
CrazyDave replied to nemesis360's topic in Members Gallery
Blimey Graham, when you get the bit between your teeth you really go for it! Nice work. Good to see all the underside bits getting the treatment, well worth the extra effort. Will look really clean underneath too. -
It's a good job the do-gooders don't get on here.... think those pics would be classified as 'Automotive-Porn'. Nice gears mate! Have you had any complaints from the standard box yet?
-
Just about to fit a Jetex on my 1990 valver, I'll let you know how I get on, noise fit etc. I already have one on the VRT and it fits great, quiet but just a little over standard on the VR. With the turbo on you can hardly hear it!

Welcome back Michael, the car is looking wonderful as ever, glad the cover did the trick! Which make was it? The Midget looks great too, chrome spokes are the only way to go really, even if they are a lot of work to keep looking good. My next door neighbour had a green one about 2-3 years ago, he sold it for a Ka convertable :cuckoo:

Karl, it was awesome mate! One of those experiences you just have to go for, nice and gentle that built up to a good hard thrash and the ring wasn't bad either  Toms camp fire show of 'seagulling' with the Corrado players has left its mark thats for sure  not laughed so much in ages. Jim, sticker must be in the wrong place, makes a big difference. Kip, quality :D and I mean't it when I said you didn't hang around. You chucked it into the carousel like an animal (maybe a badger or an otter on heat!) David, sorry to hear you're having trouble, especially of the matrix variety. That's not a nice job at all :( Still glad it's sorted and we must have another meet soon, got any dates when you're free? Cheers Boost, doesn't brush up too bad really, glad you like it. It definately goes a lot better without the camping gear, shopping, spares, tools, beer etc etc...... Andy, yeh the valver is getting some attention. It's also getting a new exhaust and front suspension rebuild very soon (bushes, inner and outer track rod ends, ball joints, top mounts, ARB bushes). Decided to keep the old gal, as it's loads of fun to drive. I have a list of minor jobs to work through on the VR. New genuine rad to go on but I'm going to mount 2 Spal fans (12" & 8") on a custom laser cut bracket instead of just one 12", the mounting frame needs designing, so another job. But should give plenty of cooling for those hot summer days we get over here! The next version of short manifold is nearly finished, and is much lighter and gives better clearance at the front. Engine breather needs sorting out properly, it smells and has been getting a bit warm near the turbo. Should also have some different springs to try soon, courtesy of Corozin, cheers John! It's never ending really!

Sorry for the huge delay in responding...... nothing too much on the fettling front, just a clean up and light polish really. Just for a change, some dirty pictures of the VRT! Just after returning from 'The Ring' :D passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfDSC_01630001.JPG[/attachment:1nqbc83a] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfDSC_01700002.JPG[/attachment:1nqbc83a] And some clean ones with the latest mod..... must be worth about 20hp that sticker  2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC_01730003.JPG[/attachment:1nqbc83a] DSC_01760004.JPG[/attachment:1nqbc83a]

Didn't realise you'd been over to the Nurburgring lately Andy????? Saw this and thought of you 8) DSC011460001.JPG[/attachment:1vac9qbh] Skoda's looking very nice mate, you've been at the polish again 8) Hope the family are all well :D -
Bl**ody H£ll! That is a close call. Very pleased to hear that everyone is OK. Coolrado, use your imagination my friend! Goldies back!!!!
-
Nice dried rush plant thing in a pot, looks great. Be even better without that bubble wraped thing stuck next to it  Nothing like new shiney things to attach to your VR, leaves a warm fuzzy feeling inside :) PS Still in Germany watching Nurburgring videos with the boys!

If the 600PS twin turbo R32 C we saw at the weekend is anything to go by, then no, it's never enough!
-
Looks like lag central to me! All that inlet pipe to fill with air when you open the throttle.... Not to mention that most of the exhaust gas velocity will have gone due to the drop in temperature out at the back. Obviously makes good power though, just wonder what it'd be like when you opened the throttle.

Proper boost junkie you've turned into Shaun  You're heading into a whole new territory for broken bits over a bar  (and yes a broken bank account too!!). Looking really good though :notworthy:

The forum does need some more thought putting into it, feels very strange to me talking about it in this forum though :?

Walesy, your wish is my command :) Links section added bottom left that registered users can submit too 8)

Mmmm Ham & Cheese.... had a lovely baguette at lunchtime.. Ham, cheese, lettuce and tomato with a little mayo. Baguette fresh out of the oven. Awesome! DOH!!! You've got me at it now 8)

Wow, thanks for all the great comments. It has been a long old slog to get the new site to this stage and we still have loads of ideas for stuff to add, so keep watching. As Walesy has pointed out, we don't have a link to this forum..... yet. In fact we haven't got any links ATM . The main target was to get the site to a reasonable standard and get it launched. Then focus on developing and adding to it over the next few months and keep it up-to-date. Not sure why the PayPal isn't going through for you Corsa, are you connecting through a proxy server? Anyway, must get back to it

Yeeehhhh! Sorted, what remap did you go for in the end? I remember going down the road with you at one of the Air Balloon meets, VAG-COM attached and not showing much boost. 20vt's really do go well with a few mapping tweeks. My friends Octavia LC remapped with Revo made 218hp (Stealth RR Day). At inters a couple of years back when my VR was standard, the standing quarter was a real close thing, the VR had it to 60, but after that he reeled me in soooo quick! Part of the reason I ended up with a turbo 8) now he doesn't want to play  Should keep you happy for a bit Andy, nice one :salute: -
Fantastic story Andy, it's a great feeling helping people out and great to see that trust still exists in this little part of the world. :notworthy: Do you know if they're going to the Nurburgring next month?

Kip, have a good look around the wire from the crank sensor. It's right behind the front engine mount bracket and is a git to see, maybe jack the car up and get under the front. The last one I had trouble with, the wire was all broken and cracked and had started shorting out giving intermittant cutting out etc (like on the motorway sat in the outside lane  ) it got worse and worse until it wouldn't start. Replaced the sensor and its fine now (my dads 2.0 8v Golf :) ). Coils are also a bit suspect on those cars, so check for a good spark, but that could be crank sensor as above still. Hope this helps!

Aah, the Ford Mucus. Only kidding Andy! They are a real fun drive, comfortable but not squishy. We have a small fleet of Ford Mundains at work, and even though I don't like to admit it, they're great for what we use and abuse them for. I don't think we've ever had one break down.....yet! Sure Mrs Cazza will be pleased and thats all that matters :) -
I like them! Gives it a kind of, 'I'm up to something' look :) Nice work on the other jobs too, you really are getting stuck in Mic! But you seem to have a hairy otter under your bonnet......
