If I had a surf board I would put it on. 8) I've spent most of today working on the Audi engine, took the manifold off ready for it to be stripped, rubbed down and painted. Took the manifold cover off and started to sand it down ready for the polishing stages. Also started to clean the mucky subframe and will be off to VW to order new bushes etc for it, I'm sure that will cost me a fair bit!

ha ha ha, Ive taken them off now. Just wanted to see if they fitted ok etc I guesse you wont be happy when I tell you I have a tob bar to try on next lol

I would use the original setup, but for some reason the guy who had the car, cut the original looms!! It's impossible to source these anywhere. Once I take into account sourcing and buying the looms, conversion of looms, immob defeat etc it comes to just under £1000 K3 starts from £580 as a kit, and from what I could tell from their website and product info, the kist works with dbw throttle, has a lead for know sensor but no idea if it can do the mass air reg, cam control (although it does mention something similar) variable intake control. How come Motec is soooo much more expensive than dta and emerald?

I'm planning on fitting an audi 3.2 engine into my corrado and this engine management system seems quite reasonable for cost. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using this with a late spec audi 3.2?
-
Decided to refit my standard rear lights. But wanted to tint them red... Also cleaned up the roof rack and put them on the car to see how they look. Next on the list of things to do is: Change bolts on the wheels Clean up subframes and get powder coated order new bushes etc polish r32 rocker cover source r32 wiring source r32 gearbox make custom driveshafts etc etc.. so will be busy for a short while

does any one know the contact details for dutchdubs. I'm trying to find out the cost of the 02M gearbox mount they do. also can I leave the output shaft to the rear of the car from the 02M gearbox rotating freely? I will end up with 4wd but need to run the car 2wd for a period of time. any one know if the aftermarket exhausts that allow the conversion of the r32 clear the prop shaft that runs to the rear?

Right after having an expensive month to sort out the car ready for the mot etc it past 1st time wahoo 8) So now starting the r32 project. Bought some cheap subframes off ebay and as well as getting some driveshafts thrown in for free I also got the vibra technic front mount, the guy didn't even realise! So spent today stripping it down ready for a good clean up This will support the r32 and thought it best to renew all the bushings etc around the car to better handle the engine.

Does anyone know if the wiring for a r32/audi 3.2 that connects the the ecm has to be from the same engine. I guesse one side of the ecm plugs into the engine ecm and has to be the specific version but isn't the other side a generic (non 3.2)setup from a similar model/year? Where can I get wiring diagrams for these engines? looking for a late type audi diagram.
-
any updates on this??
-
Followed you out from gti inters, looked very nice mate. Was impressed by the arches too. 8)
-
I thought that vagdoctor could do it in the ecm. not heard any issues off other people who have had work done by him

Hi Bud, hope things are good with the work on the engine. I look forward to catching up with you and getting some good pictures taken. I've put the r32 conversion on hold for a short while, due to the rust I have on the body work. Once thats sorted will get back on track with the conversion.
-
Look what was found recently :mad2: I think this occured due to the cowboy repair that was carried out on the rear arch, leaving this area exposed to moisture/damp and lack of under sealent No idea on if it's repairable or even how much it's going to cost me.
-
I'm finding quite a few audi 3.2 engines, do these require a audi specific ecm to run or can a r32 ecm run them if it's coded correctly? Are the audi's more powerfull because of the ecu mapping or is it to do with cams etc
-
Yes it is

I bought mine late last year for £350 as a full kit 2nd hand. But I broke one pipe, do me a favour, could you measure and post some pictures of both the pipes that go from the interior to the engine bay. The garage fixing the pipes lost mine :mad2:

I'm doing standard management and using dubpower exhaust with marks modified loom and ecm. I guesse the pro's are that there are more mk4 engines and they are easier to fit (fuel lines, ecm etc). Con's are that they are older and would have higher mileage. I was just worried that internally there are some "bad" designs of the r32 that were resolved on the later engines ?
-
What are the pro's and con's to using a mk4 engine instead of a mk5 and vice versa? Ie performance, reliability, ease to use for conversion, extra parts needed etc I was dead set for getting a mk5 but just found out that the fuel rail causes difficulty and you need a PRV to regulate the fuel. I want a nice clean uncluttered setup and having more parts make it tough to do this
-
I'm going to keep an eye on this as Im just getting ready for a r32 conversion. What are the benefits of using this and not a "VAG doctor" modified mk4/5 loom? I could be wrong but dont the prices work out to be roughly the same? Only selling point to me so far is the working MFA. But selling the old vr engine with all the wiring and ecu maay be easier to shift

Doing the porsche pcd redrill is viable, but I wouldn't like to stress the hub. Your taking more material off a supporting component so it could potentialy lead to a failure. I'm not an expert on this kind of modification, might be worth doing a search or maybe a new post asking about it. But I'm sure 4x100 to porsche fitments adaptors are availible and are also able to fix the difference in offsets of the wheels
-
Will give the bearing supplier a try, don't really want to buy a whole assembly unless I have no choice. thanks
-
Does any one know if the bushes within the spoiler motor can be bought seperatly from somewhere or even if the motor itself can be bought seperatly to having to buy the whole spoiler mechanism. the bushes on my motor are completely gone, so either need new bushes or a new motor.

paintwork is excellent, so deep and looks perfect I'm dead jealous! Do you mind if I'm cheeky and ask how much they charged? I ask because mine is due for one in the future and need to plan how much I need to save up. The last respray I had on it cost me over £1300 and was S**T :mad2:

Im going to do a write up on what I had to do, but the the old bolt are pressed in so used some big mole grips to ease them out. Thoughest part so far is trimming down the bolts and getting the new ones in the wheels. I'm tempted to paint the wheels a different colour but don't know which yet.

I still haven't finished the lights, but done this today From this: To this: Wheels are BBS LM Reps
