  1. how? with a knife! no close up pics i am afraid doesn't this show the wood/cardboard underneath? I guesse youve done it so it looks OE?
  2. Excellent build so far. with the dash swap, how did you get the edge of the dash to meet up with the windscreen and the sides of the dash to meet up with the a pillar/door without having big gaps showing. would you have any pictures showing these areas in detail?
  3. Can the studs be removed and replaced with something better?
  4. I gave my wheels a clean today ( which I do on a regular basis) and found that the bolts have already starting corroding, this is probably due to so much salt being laid down onto the roads due to the time of year. But surely for a wheel thats regurlarly cleaned and being less than 6months old they shouldnt show any signs of corrosion right? Has anyone else had this happen to their wheels? Does anyone know how to remove the bolts so I can replace them with better quality versions? Are tehy pressed in or threaded in?
  5. Excellent news bud. Look forward to seeing it in person. I'm planning on doing mine at some point next year so may have to pick your brain soon.
  6. I've just been given an estimated quote for one to be made, and it turned out to be the same price as the one I have had "fixed".
  7. the metal section on the pipe I'm on about doesn't have any ports to allow for re-gasing. It's just a solid section. I can't see why the whole pipe isn't just two fixings at each end with a rubber hose in between I have had to borrow the picture off another post just for the reference. Does any one have pictures?

    Diavia Pipe

I've broke the connection on one of the pipes to my air con, this coonection attaches to the aircon pump. The pipe itself has a soild metal section between the two rubber hoses (what does this do?). It's shown here. It's also the longest part. download/file.php?id=16741 Ive taken the pipe to a garage to get it fixed, he's done the repair (changed the fixing) and wants to charge me £45!! I'm sure I can have the whole pipe made up cheaper but need dimensions, pipe pressures, resistant properties etc etc to get a quote. The garage wont give me the pipe back until I pay up. Does anyone have this info? Or even better one I can borrow to copy. Or do you reckon its a fair price for the pipe fix? Pictures etc would be excellent Does this pipe come from any other car, if so that would save this headache!
  9. Well this is the second 2nd hand rack I've fitted. First one felt heavy turning left and very light turning right, so replaced it with the current one. I am going to replace all the bushes anyway with poly vesions and change the bj and track ends to see if that helps (if it doesn't it will tighten up the handling). Ive heard that the seat steering rack will fit, any one know which one this is? I would think this would be a cheaper alternative to a corrado version being rebuilt (even then Ive heard that they arent perfect).
  10. Im not sure if anyone has had the problem Im going through I have very vague steering when steering slightly left to right or right to left, more noticeable at dual carriage way speeds. It feels loose, but if I carry on turning it all tightens up. Does this sound like a dead rack or bushes/attatchment points?
  11. Ok, I wasn't sure if somehow it was a converted car ie from non vr to vr spec. but by the looks of it the car looks original. I'm wondering if the instrument cluster only works correctly on certain vr's? Only thought this due to the instrument cluster i had revved incorrectly on my vr. I noticed that the vr you stripped had a different ecu and maf sensor to mine, I wonder if this means it sends a different pulse to the instrument cluster. I wasn't doubting you Bobby, I was more doubting the previous owner. I wrote down the part number from both my instrument cluster and yours. One set of clocks had two numbers the other had just one, but silly me can't remember which where from my cluster and from yours. 535 919 035 AM 535 919 042 AH 535 919 035 AK I haven't got etka on this pc to find out
  12. I know that the vr6 and non vr rear beams differ slightly. Mainly the width. I've just bought what was advertised as a "vr6" rear beam, but I'm worried its not so. How can I check? where is the part number found on it and what should the width be from one brake hub mount to the other? will the bentley manual state it? image of the beam can be found here. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0074009731 thanks
  13. Any chance a picture to see? How tough was it to wire up?
  14. Has anyone managed to get the mpg to work correctly on the corrados display unit? Also has anyone got pictures of the r32 display unit fitted to the corrado dash, it would be great to see. If the golf dash will allow for all the features to work ie mpg, outside temp etc etc then I may go that route depending on difficulty and if it looks like an oem install.
  15. i've done the conversion. yes you can do as you mention. only difference being the front subframe if corrado specific, the rear needs slight modification by means of shortening and two new holes creating.
  16. Lovely job guys.I dont think Bigpants likes me, not sure what Ive done but he's blocked me on ebay :( will hav to source parts elsewhere.
  17. I remember when I had trouble starting my vr after ther conversion. When it finally fired I was soooo happy, I was even more smitten when I got to drive it for the first time knowing that I did all the work and it was worth it. The vr sound was the icing on the cake.
  18. thanks for following this post up. Interesting to know this too. I used a 2.0 16v shaft on my conversion, and im sure its the same as the g60. This was fine on my car including multiple hard starts (you have to to apreciate the vr growl of course ;)), so logic would say that the one you have on should be fine. But I recently converted the drivetrain to full vr6 so that I knew it was as it should be and remove that little doubt of "will it let go one day?".
  19. I dont think the dismantling of dash and front of the car is difficult. I've done it several times now. :cuckoo: I wanted to get the full corrado system as I wanted a good building block to start from, i would then start replacing the parts for seat versions. What would I deffinately need from the corrado air con system to then ie corrado specific parts? (which are hard to find) air box? air con pipes? wiring loom? relays? And what cars, model and age can I get the other parts to convert to climatronic. I was looking at the bentley manual and cant seem to find much on the wiring diagram. Is it in there?
  20. I fitted new bearings when I changed the wheels, but will check they are as they should be, Thanks
  21. when you say ducting, do you mean the pipes that come from the bug air distributor box? I'm calling a guy up tomorrow about a corrado aircon system. Hoping to use this to convert mine to climatronic like yours. Was the wiring difficult? I have wired up the engine (vr6 conversion) and have fitted alarms so would you say its as difficult as that or a case of pluging all the plugs in? Im quite suprised that not many others have done this
  22. brilliant, doesnt the climatronic have some sort of motor mechanism to control the temp for each side of the car etc? What I'll do then is fit the VR6 aircon, then I'll fit the climatronic later on. This will give me chance to source all the parts.
  23. I'm planning on fitting air con to my non air con vr6. Ive got the compressor but nothing else. I may be able to get a complete air con system, but I want to fit the climatronic system from the seat leon as it looks great and would be a great comfort feature. I've heard others have fitted, in Partic' coolrado so I know its possible. Now how much of the seat leon system will fit the corrado? Will it all fit and allow the full conversion, or do I need the standard corrado system and then retro fit the climatronic. I'm going to do a full writeup on installation inc parts and pics if people are able to help out. Any input would be great. Thanks
  24. ive done around 1000miles on th tyres so far, had the tracking and camber done last month. Will check the mounts, the shocks should be ok as i put coilie on a few months back. thanks guys for your input.
