  1. nope, I don't know of any either Jay... There's McGuiness's down in Stoke, but they tend to have old stuff in, or CarTransplants over the other side of Crewe, but they tend to be expensive and mainly Ford/Vauxhall orientated... If you find one (there's gotta be one!) lemme know! I do know of 2 VW breakers in Manchester, but they're both "off the shelf" styleeee ones... "GT Autospares" and "VWAudi parts"

    no go...

Just under £25 from VAG... 8) DON'T buy the GSF / ECP cheaper ones 'cos they're crap and will break again...

    no go...

sounds like it could be a dead ignition switch to me...
  4. g-man, sorry mate, didn't realise you were doing the 16V heads too...
  5. CaiosG60 PWR, what? you mean Primer grey? I'll dig out the photos of my primer grey type 2 and post 'em up after xmas if I remember... ;)
  6. get a head from CNC heads... ;) not cheap, but: Think that speaks for itself... 8)
  7. PhatVR6, that's still cheaper than a 1H block's bolts and gasket! :| 10x £8 for the bolts and £30 for the gasket... :( Glad you've got it sorted though... 8)
  8. could be the sender in the tank, the gauge itself or simply the wire from the sender... Take the wire off the sender (under the rear seat IIRC) and touch it to ground with the ignition on.... this should make the gauge read FULL, if it doesn't, then it's either the wire or the gauge itself...

    Headlights

scoob, welcome to the forum... A few more details on your car would help as the fuel systems vary depending on the engine... ;)
  10. also check the state of your rear axle bushes... they may well not be helping the situation... ;)
  11. Blue_Joe, Look at Jay Renshaws 24V... the Corvette wheels ARE sided, so I don't see why Porsche wouldn't side their wheels if Chevvy can do it... I'm with Rodders in thinking that the 993TT WERE sided...
  12. chrishill, nope, it's not got the main alternator/charger bracket with it looking at the spec posted up... ;) [/anorak]
  13. coolrado, shame it's not got the braket to mount it on too... :(
  14. Andi, J-DUB used to be able to do similar to get out of a space when I got hemmed in... ;)

    Quick Help Needed

    8) Locksville for this thread then...
  16. 28 Window Samba splitty or a Karmann Ghia with the Judson factory engine option... (Yup, that's a supercharger!  )

    Oil Sensor

change the 2 switches (they're not expensive) and if this doesn't cure it - DON'T DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL YOU DO SORT IT!!! Check oil level is OK and dipstick holder tube isn't broken giving you a false reading. Drop the sump and check the oil pump intake isn't blocked Drop out the oil pump and check it's free and still pumping (I'd consider changing it while it's out anyway)
  19. yeah, as said above in different places, I'd do the following until I found the problem: Check the plug isn't damaged (as daft as it sounds). Whip off the cam cover and check that the tappet is actually free and moving as it should. Take off the head and get the valves and seats checked. Drop off the sump, drop out the bottom cap and push out the piston to see if it's got damaged rings. PANIC 'cos I'd have no idea what the F*** to check after doing all those things and not finding the problem... :| Good luck matey! 8)
  20. catch_twotwo, I know that feeling... mine's not moved in over 4 weeks now... :| :(

    Thankyou Guys

Merry Chrimbo Daz... I may have a little pootle down to see you in the new year to show you what your head has done to my poor little G60... ;)
  22. *raises hand* Hi, I'm Ian and I've written off 2 Corrados... Lost my first one on a corner on some diesel and ended up going diagnally backwards into a field twisting the bodyshell enough to crease the roof... :| Then crashed J-DUB around this time last year when some silly cow pulled out in front of me as I was overtaking (now been declared entirely her fault! 8) :D ) J-DUB will probably be resurrected as I've got all the parts (other than an engine and a passenger front wing) to put her back together again now, although it's looking like I may have to sell her as an unfinished project due to work commitments and moving home... :(
