  1. Gutted for you. Although it wasn't in the league of your car, I sold mine two months ago for exactly the same reasons. Two months on and I've just bought another one! In your car, someone is going to have one of the very best Corrados around.
  2. I have to order them today if I want them for tomorrow but the garage said they dont have time to take them out today - theyve had the car since Monday!!! The chap at the garage seemed to think that they may have caused the damage to the control panel because of the age of them. If this is not the case I won't bother replacing them, but any ideas as to what may have broken the panel? The panel has been replaced twice since 94!
  3. The heater matrix on my '94 Corrado has packed up but luckily the last owner had it replaced within the last year which means its still under warranty. The car is currently in the garage which replaced it but theyve advised that I change the 3 wires that connect to it. I've phoned VW and asked them to order the wiring but they said that the wire attached to the 'defroster' could be one of two lengths. They don't know why it could be one of two lenths but they said it's not unusual! Why could a car that is exactly the same as the car sitting next to it have a longer wire than the other for the heater matrix?! Im reluctant to ask on here if anyone knows the length of the wire, as VW have already said it could be one of two lengths. Having said that, as they were scratching their heads as to why it could be one of two lengths, I'll brave it and ask!
  4. Those doors would make good oars!
  5. No Corrado was fitted with A/C as standard - well at least UK spec'd cars. Most of the Corrado's fitted with after market systems are Diavia units. My car has it and it works very well. I didnt have it on my last Storm and it makes a big difference on those sunny days!
  6. The troulbe is, I have no idea whatsoever when it comes to mechanics of a car. I want to learn, but my knowledge is very basic! Do you think its worthwhile taking it to a garage and finding out what the faults are and then for me to use the 'search' tools in trying to rectify the problems????
  7. I don't know if anyone can help without seeing or listening to it, but having driven it home tonight I noticed that after I turned the engine off (as well as the normal clangs and ticks) there was a liquid noise. It sounded like the sound you get when water drips into a metal bucket???? Also, the steering can be very heavy. I've checked the fluid and the level is fine but on some 90 degree corners you really have to pull the wheel. On others it's Ok...ish. The top end of the engine has been rebuilt and the chap who I bought if off, said that the steering has been the same since the engine rebuild???? Any ideas?? Thanks - I've missed it!
  8. As I too live in Southampton, I can totally vouch for what you've written. My eyes see exactly the same. I even know an asian who borrows his mums!

  10. As much as I'm happy to be back in ownership of one, it's not to the same standard as my previous car. Ok, the price of it certainly reflects this, but how much I'll compare the two remains to be seen. If I had only listened to the advice of 'Don't sell it, you'll only regret it' in the first place......! You live and learn!
  11. I sold my Storm less than two months ago because I've been given a company car and I wasn't using the Corrado enough. As soon as it's new keeper (Mark_Storm) drove it away, I looked at it's replacement, a Ford Focus ESTATE and had to restrain myself from beating everyone of it's panels in for being the cause of my sale! However, the loss of my Corrado has only made me fonder of them. This lead me to impulsively handing over a deposit with an owner of another VR6 tonight! I knew I'd buy another as some point, but not this soon!!
  12. Thats them! I found them very helpful with a wealth of Knowledge. Far more knowledgable than any VW dealers around here. There is also a place in Chandlers Ford that seem to know their stuff as well.
  13. I had my bottom end rebuilt (Inc crank, chains, tens, conrods etc etc_) for £1400. That was done by a VW Specialist in Southampton.
  14. I've just read all of this thread for the first time. You have created a truely great car. Total respect for doing everything yourself as well. I'd love to see it in the flesh one day.
  15. Although only 3mm, I didnt realise that the 16V was wider! What makes those extra 3mm?!?!
  16. There was a G60 near Eastleigh a few years ago, which I loved the colour of, but have never seen again. It had a few dents and scratches to it so I think it must have come out the factory like it. It was a very light grey but in the sunlight looked pearl - the same effect that water has when mixed with oil. Shame I dont have any pictures, but any ideas? Ive seen Violet etc and all of the other greys Ive seen, are a lot darker and flatter.
  17. No problem Andy - just let me know.... I go to Peter Cooper in Hedge End because thats the nearest to me. They dont give an outright % when it comes to discount. Each item has a different % off it when it comes to giving trade prices. When I purchased two rear brake discs from them recently, it came to just over £30 + VAT. I think they are normally £22 each - so it was a saving. I just tell them Im from Hendys and pay cash. There is no need to get Hendy's to raise them a purchase order as it saves them time, Hendys time and besides, I can't claim back the VAT either way.
  18. Where in hampshire are you Steve VPK?
  19. I work in the motor trade but for another manufacturer. I just say Im in the trade and they give me the parts at trade prices. I have never had to show any identification, just say who Im from. I imagine if you just say youre from a local dealer and say their name, they will give you trade prices! If anyone in the Hampshire region struggles with this, just let me know and I'll be happy to get you the parts for trade prices!
  20. J558 KBD. I have asked work for an HPI report and it is coming up clear as far as damage is concerned. It has finance showing on the report - (Hoo Poe Finance). This is probably finished by now as it was taken out as HP on 7.01.00 over a period of 48 months. Perhaps a call to the finance house is in order, just to confirm that they have no further interest in the deal. The vehicle has had 5 previous owners.
  21. I have access to HPI. I called work to put that registration number in - 'K558 KBD' into Experian. No record of that registration number is found. If you double check the reg number, I can look again for you.....
  22. Jimbo, The 'K' plate 16V that you saw belongs to someone I work with. The field you saw the 16V next to is where she keeps her horse. Were both from Chandlers Ford. I have a mystic blue Storm which is unfortunately just about to go up for sale, but hopefully we'll pass each other before she does go...
  23. Sorry. New to this site and wasn't sure where to put my topic.
  24. Hello people. Due to receiving a company car, I no longer have room for my Corrado VR6. Corrado prices have fluctuated greatly recently so I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good selling price for it? Its a 95 VR6 Storm in Mystic blue. Last year it had a bottom end rebuild at a cost of £1400 as there was an oil blockage. Apart from the odd mark its in great condition. The only thing that it could do with, is have its wheels refurbished. Its completely standard, (still has first aid kit and warning triangle), 2 previous owners, 89k on the clock and has a full VW service history.
