  1. Have a good look at the wiring coming from the newer vr, especially the main engine harness plug. I found that one of the wires on the back has a weak pin, the wire behind was doggy so swapped it out. Once its all done and you fire her up, you are likely to give a rather loud cheer and a few swear words. All the best. You will be in good hands with Nath

    Air Con questions

Your very kind mate For me there are pros and cons, CC as nice as it is, I am not overly keen on the dash panel. I will be happy enough to have cold air to cool me down with all of these short skirts! I dont think the current AC im buying works fully, its coming from John Croozin. Could just need a re gas but that was one concern I had when weighing up a newer modern sytem. The buttons for the AC are the ones situated above the fag lighter, am I right in thinking these buttons are early ones? Or is this the correct position when you have heated seats with the later heated seat switches?

    Air Con questions

Hi all I have stuck my hand up for an AC system off a fellow member and will be helping hm take it out of his car which hopefully will help me in refttng into mine. At present, I have my dash off ready to replace the heater matrix. Do AC models use a different heater matrix? I imagne they would be the same... When putting in air con, do I need to trim the under-tray? Or should I just ask for this with the doner car? Cheers Rams
  4. Having troubles taking the bottom 10mm nut off the threat that holds the materix to bulkhead. I've tried wd etc, but it just keeps spinning. I understand a few people have struggled with this nut. I have the dash out ready to replace with my re trimmed one, wires everywhere and I just wanted to replace the matrix for piece of mind. The foam that sits around the wires behind the dash, some of it just crumbles away, is this foam wrap readily available or any ideas what I could use? Or should I just tape them up with loom tape and not bothere with the padding that has seen better days...
  5. Hi everyone, bit of an update, its been a while..... Managed to get the dashboard out this afternoon, fairly straight forward, a couple of plastic tabs broke off so will be on the hunt for a few bits. The new dash is almost finished, going to cover the bit at the back where the air holes are and do a bit of a mod there. I cant wait to get the new dash in, it just looks superb. Went with a matching double stich line and will have the front of the glove box done. Re trimming some of the steering wheel cowlings in Alcanatara and will be doing a few other things. Have order some spacers adaptors for the rear changing out the 40mm ones for 30mm, should look a bit better, also removed the 40mm ones from the front and swaped them with the rears which were 35mm. The door pods I bought from here are being stripped, removing the carpet and having them tidyed up, smoothed down and then leather trimmed, now just need to find some nice components as I can put the tweeters in the dash and have it looking quite subtle. Tomorrow I plan to find the bits I broke today and get the heater matrix out. Might as well change it now even though there have been no leaks. The list of goodies for the Turbo build are starting to come through, picking up the stripped engine so it can be taken to an engineering firm to check it over and carry out works as required. Once thats done, I can order the pistons and con rods and bearing etc, etc etc. I had my chassis notched as the drive shaft was rubbing on the driver side, plate welded and all sealed and sholts, I can now go lower if I need to but I will probably wont. Will get some good pics up of the dash when its all in, I hope it changes the feel of the interior quite a bit and make it a nicer place to sit. Rams
  6. i tightened up the wishbones as these were not that tight, after reading up that they should be 130 nm, they needed a few cranks which seems to have sorted the pulling under load. I am still getting a clunk when steering but it does sound like the spring relocating. Sounds worse of the driver side when steering on the spot. The dampner adjuster does seem more slack on the top that the passenger side but this should make any difference? The gaz gold coilovers do not come with helper springs and im wondering if thats part of my issue. The CV joints have not been replaced and my driveshafts looks very old. I might get some new driveshafts as I do get a bit of vibration through the gear stick, especially in 1st. Will update this once they are changed. I need to find out if I can fit the helper springs to my suspension. I also had another noise when taking bends quite fast, noticed some shiney metal around my driveshaft and its been rubbing the chassis leg. I have spoken to a a chap that does notching so the chassis will be cut out and welded to give some extra space on the drivers side.
  7. hi there I have uprated headlight wiring with a relay thats just packed up, it was already installed when I bought the car. It uses the OEM plugs and has a wire coming off it to the uprated wiring loom. If I buy your kit, would I simply remove that wiring and plug and play with yours? If so, are these still available and can I have your paypal details please. What can we do fon a 3 relay set up with oem connectors? Cheers Rams
  8. Hi there I have been wondering whats going on with my car as the last time I drove on the motor way I felt I had to keep steering right to keep the car in a straight line. I had the goms done by a special leazer machine where they adjusted camer etc. The car is driving straight with the steering wheel being straight, then if I put the car under load, it pulls to the left. I have had all my suspesnion bushes uprated with new polly wishbone bushes, new top mounts, oem, new eibach arb with new polly bushes and the track rod ends and ball joints were replaced about 11 months ago..... I seem to get a bit of clunking on the steering on my right shock when turning on the spot but thought it was just the spring making the noise as there are no helper springs. Any ideas? Maybe I need to get it on the ramp or go back to the place that set the geoms up?
  9. Very slammed, but how will you fit spacers and keep the height you want? The tyre must be close to the inside arch as it is or are you having the arches pulled?
  10. Nath, hello..... My car has been doing the same, has happened twice only that I know of, both when friends were behind me at the time. He told me there was a bit of smoke coming out the exhaust and then it just cleared and didnt do it again, booting or not booting. I wondered if its something to do with the lamba sensor being that I used the original corrado one but the plugs were the same. I forget now if you changed yours to OBD2? I believe I was going up hill when it happened or when my friend noticed it. Also, please forgive me, I never sent that RAM filter. I did a job today where I collect lots of boxes so I can box it up and send over tomorrow. Eitherway, Its yours. I am still happy to send it to you even though you are selling the motor. You could add it in as an extra I suppose. Shame, who am I going to call when they bring out OBD3! LOL
  11. Hi, sorry if posted incorrectly...... Would anyone want to swap a pair of 35mm spacers/adaptors for a 30mm spacer? Ideally, will swap if thery are H and R. Mine are only 4 months old or there abouts and in perfect condition. They are for Porsche wheels, mine are D90's. I have on my vr 35 mm spacer adaptors on the rear and 40 mm on the front, I am thinking to either machine down my 35mm spacers as I might go for more tuck, my rear wheels are slighter wider than fronts. Rams
  12. I like them, look similar to the 8 series seats from memory. Could be quite wide though, have you measured them up?
  13. excellent thread and attention to detail, well done buddy
  14. Is the AC pump the same as a vr6 ac pump? If so, I have the AC pump with hoses
  15. Hi there I picked up a multitude of parts yesterday from a golf vr6, its the same car I used for the OBD2 conversion. I can collect from him today the vr6 rad, good condition im told. Should be the same as the corrado being its a mk3 golf vr6? The nit was locked yesterday but had all of his parts from his garage. Have drive shafts, hubs, 2 sets of engine plastics, gearbox, head, 2 ecu, fusebox, Air con pump, air con rad, abs ecu, lamba sensor, manifold obd1 with throttlbody, hoses, 2 sets of gearbox selectors units with cables and more. If you still need the rad, I can collect today and have a good look at it as I havent seen it yet. Currently all sat in the back of my van, my plan is to get it all in the shed and get some pics and sell them. Trying to raise some funds for another C.
  16. Im sure he said Bedfordshire.......
  17. I have 2 engines spare, plus it still has MOT and tax. I am up for a deal if someone wants the actual car? If not and its still available in 2 weeks time then I might just buy it and swap the engine and interior out and put it straight back up for sale. He doesnt want to start the engine so its putting people off, but like I said, the engine and all whats been spent is not a concern. It can always be stripped anyway and if what has been done is true then surely some of it is salvagable and worth some money.
  18. Hi guys I didn't think about German Ebay, so thanks chaps. Another favourite site added. The thing is, I want to swap out my leather for heated/electric Recaros, Andy, I am assuming the cloth ones are not heated for obvious reasons..... I have seen a car for sale which has a headgasket issue, £1300 will buy it and comes with winter pack and full black heated electric recaros. Pictures look tidy...... I have a spare engine, although the advert says its 3.l ltr with basically 4500 spent on engine mods by Grant Motorsport and so forth. I just want the seats, did consider it as a daily but I know I will end up spending money on it when I havent finished my own car yet. Anyone interested in buying it together? Could be a cheap vr6 for someone with leather heated seats. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2714979.htm Rams
  19. The rear beam does need powder coating, although the bushes seem fine but as it is, the ride is quite firm with the polly bishes so may end up going with the r32 rear beam bushes instead of polly...... The rear wheel bearings were an advisory and that was back in December, since then, its been dropped and has the wide spacers so more pressure is being forced on them so it could be that. I really could do with my own diagnostic tester. I just use my friends snap on jobbie and that said mechanical fault to the rear near side. Then they said they were all faulty but assume this is just the 1 thats knocking them all out or the snap on tester itself. This weekend I will check for the play and see whats what........ With the MK4 rears, are you saying just change the callipers for mk4 with mk4 rear discs and pads? Or do I use corrado discs and pads? I really want to have the 280 size on the rears and was looking at the kits for sale but not sure whats best to go for and what size I can get away with with the wheel size or if indeed the 280 will fit?
  20. As per title really, would be looking for any condition as I plan to have them re trimmed, cheers Rams
  21. 'Adrian Flux', excellent if you have a non standard car
  22. Hi all My ABS has been playing up, it started off with the light flickering on then off, it initally came on when driving over a pothole. I took it along today to my guy and we plugged it in and it said mechanical fault to the rear nearside. There wasn't enought time to check anything out but suspect a sensor or ABS ring? My question is, what should I do whilst I am there? I know the rear wheel bearings were an advisory on the last MOT but this always seems a popular topic with MOT testers and the rear wheel bearings. Anyhow, I havent yet replaced the rear discs or pads since I owned the car, the fronts I did not that long ago and upgraded to 288mm and re did all the brake lines with braded hoses and had some rusty brake lines replaced. So its basically a rear end refurb required but what route can I take? I have 35 mm spacers on the rear so can probably get away with larger discs? The Porche d90's are 8 jay on the rear. What would you suggest I do? I will be starting the rebuild soon on the 2.8 engine I bought to make it Turbo ready so I may aswell have the rear brakes ready to cope with the bigger demand. Any thoughts on this would be great Rams
