  1. Hi again, bit of an update........ I have my spare dash with Tim, my trimmer. We have discussed the stich lines and the general layout. Will be very similar to the Campagne model once finished. Keeping with the Porsche Nappa leather thinned down for sharper lines. I am still looking for a set of front Recaro seats.... Really want a set. I have an ABS fault, light came on over a week ago and havent had time to investigate further. Today, the brakes were biting whilst driving into a car park, it did this a few times, I must have looked like a twat as the gf kept breaking itself. The light went off but came back on again. Probably a duff or loose sensor? Also, I have been told by a couple of friends who were following me that for a brief moment, my car was chicking out smoke from the exhaust. I wondered why they were flashing me.... Then they said it just cleared and the rest of the journey was fine...... Not sure if she needs setting up since going OBD2? Still have the original leads ... Mabe I should put a new set on, they are probably 3/4 years old? Next week, I am doing an oil change to the syntha silver, been using the gold stuff and thought I would try something a bit thicker. Looking back through the car service history, most of the vw services were done using Syntha Gold. Catch up soon, Rams
  2. Does anyone have the website details for the chap that took some pictures today, he was giving some cards out and said they were free to view
  3. I used the Skoda sport gas pedal and as Hasan said, 2 clutch ones. After the drive up today to the CCGB, I have those annoying stone chips on my bonnet! But its kind of made me realise that I have to relax abit and just enjoy the beast. But get them touched back in! lol Even the bonnet brab wouldnt have defended where one of the stone chips were, but I want one to atleast protect the front which to be fair takes the most hits. Will have a look now at whats available. Nice to meet some corrado people today and I was taken for a spin in a lovely supercharged vr which was great, thats was some lovely power.
  4. Ok, I didnt really want to see the pics the guy took but they are quite nice! The first 7 are the photographer that the gf organised and the rest my friend took for me.
  5. Thats what he used as the sealant / gloss part, Poorboys. Great stuff. And quite good value compared to some of the paste type products from what I here. Have you got some pics before of the car all polished up?
  6. I think as he took his jacket off, the motion of his keys in his pocket caught the arch. I agree that he would have heard that, funnily enough he was on the phone the next morning at 8 30 asking what I wanted to do..... so he knew he was guilty. Had I been there, saw it happen, all hell would have opened up and the situation may have gotten worse. I went back to the painter and we have touched it in for now with some paint I had left over but to have it done properly, back as it was, would mean the entire rear panel, roof section, a pillar, rear valance, it just keeps going! He said we could try and get a soft edge to the arch line and loose the join there so that maybe an option. Now the chip isnt as noticable at a glance I feel a bit better. I am also planning on taking the engine out at some point when the new one is ready and having the bay painted so might get it re done then. As for the muppet, theres nothing I can do. I didnt see him do it but the gf said she heard something as he took his jacket off, plus when she pulled him up on it, he said something about his jacket. For £100 I can have the arch painted and hopefully we can make it look seemless where it joins in the rear panel. Thanks for all the positive comments guys!
  7. Hi mate

R U free for the ccgb day next sunday?

  8. Not great pic but you can see the chips but notthe iny little paint dents, you have to get really close to see them. But where the paint is so immaculate, anything stands out, however small!! P.S I will send out that ram air kit, I baged it up today and just need to get a box and get it sent off.
  9. Yes, full machine detail, 3 stages, mop, glaze and seal / wax. Give him a bell, top man and local. Drives a nice Ltd edition Lotus with his name virtually as his number plate. Very decent bloke and came highly recommended by other friends that have some very special cars. Brad's number is 07855 151 336. Depending on the swirls and condition of the paint, expect around £80 to £100 but thats for a whole day and all the products. You just have to supply electricity and water and multiple cups of tea.
  10. Well after Brad detailed the Storm from 9 till 5 on Saturday, he solved all my swirl marks and buffing trails left by painter. The car really looks ace. I have had a good pal of mine take some pics with his camera near his work and he will send them to me next week but for now, they are just with my usual Iphone but look quite good. Other than that, I had my sub box made so I connected it all up and screwed the sub into the box and wired everything up. I did have the exhaust polished up but forgot to picture that once everything was finished. Before the detailed eyes out there pick it up. Driving early this evening did make me feel 21 again so that was a result, even played some old school Kevin and Perry go live tracks, just to bring back the memories with the new 10 inch JL, lovely sound. Just what I was after. I have slightly bothered to say the least today as the gf organised a photographer to take some pics and he managed to damage the paint work to the rear arch. Even though I told her to postpone as I wasnt happy with the overcast weather but I have posted that in the general chat, just for some advise really as it happened whilst I was away today. Trying to be positive as its not anything major but it has gone through to the primer in 2 tiny places and caused a couple of other dents to the paint in that area. I believe it was his keys in his jacket pocket as he swung off his jacket whilst standing by the C. I did manage to work that all out though before I did a 'Scotland yard investigation' on the gf. Anyway, will see what the painter says, I am hoping a few touches of paint on a brush, bit of lacquer and a mop over will fix it, otherwise, its going back in and someone will cover the cost, even if its me! Hope you like the pics and be on the look out for next week for some nice ones.
  11. Well, after I had the c professionally detailed and just getting the car how I wanted since all the work was completed and after having a couple of minor faults rectified at the paint shop last week the car was looking superb. My gf said that her friend that is a professional photographer and would take some nice pictures for me as my basic camera died and I ve been posting pics with my poor quality Iphone camera. So the plan was for the photographer to arrive in the morning and we could take a drive out somewhere and get some smart shots but the weather wasn't great, overcast etc so I said to the gf, look, I had some pics taken by my friend Kev yesterday, even thought the weather wasn't very sunny but they were taken just after the detail and I wanted the professional guy to come on a day where it was really sunny so paint work could stand out. So she got grumpy with me as she had arrange it all, but I said, please tell him that I am sorry, but I really want to wait for a nice sunny day, blue clear skys etc. Just before I left I said have you called him yet and she replied saying he had already left but I told him we would do it another time but he was just going to pop over to see where I lived as he didnt know the area for next time. I then had to leave, promised to help 3 friends with taking stuff to the tip in my van, all for free, just to help them get some garden space back, most of them have kids so I was happy to be helping them out and looking forward to coming home, installing the sub and amp etc. I arrived home, looked at the car admiring the silky paint and I see what looks to be a couple of very small bird like poo marks on the off side rear arch. On closer inspection they were not poo marks and indeed missing paint revealing the primer. It was like something had swung onto it. I was then really angry and instantly called the gf and said, '' My car is damaged, where r u'' and did the camera man enter the driveway and get close to my car?! She arrives back shortly after my call and I showed her the chips, plus there are a few tiny dents but just in the paint, not the metal. I knew when I left the car this morning it was perfect. My feeling was that the camera man came, took some pics and either damaged the paint with his jacket or clothing or the tri pod or something. So I said to the gf, where was he standing, what was he doing, etc etc and she said he took his long jacket off and put it down on the driveway but I did hear something but thought it was his keys in his pocket landling on the ground. So my feelings were spot on so I said to her, call him up and see if he admits it, obviously still angrey that the gf didnt listen to me in the first place, plus moved my car to reposition it on the driveway. So, the photographer was doing it for free to start with, if Barbara had told him what I said none of this would have happened. This guy should have been more careful, most of all! I am not sure if building up the paint and adding a bit of lacquer then a mop over will work of if the complete rear panel will need doing as I can't see how you would get a soft edge or how you can marry the surfaces into the rest of the paintwork, the panel goes from the rear of the car to the roof along to the A pillars and if I want it to be perfect, will that all need re doing, rear quarter window out the lot! They are really really small chips but 5 in total. Its not like a big dent or anything but I am quite gutted. What do I do? He's suggesting he comes round and speaks to me face to face. He added that it might have been him when he took his jacket off...... which means he knew he ****ing did it. I will take the car over to Andy who painted it for me and see what he says first. The gf has been really upset today with her self. She often tries to help but it always seems to end up going wrong. I know there are other things in life to be sad about but after finally getting her right its just left me feeling really dissapointed.
  12. Not only is it relaxing but you burn off lots of calories and its aparantely very good for you. Hopefully some more people will get their polishing gear out and it might just burn that Burger King off lol Had my C professionally detailed yesterday, Brad, the chap that did it for me arrived at 9am and packed up at 5pm. The paint really looks lovely and he got rid of all the swirl marks and machine buffing lines etc that were in it. The window cleaner he used smelt so nice too, so we had a smell of all the waxes and sprays and one of them smells like Hubba Bubba. Keep up the cleaning!
  13. This now leads nicely into pics of the clean cars.... Lets see them. I am waiting for C5 OEM to reply, that car is always gleaming! So there are some serial car cleaners out there, thats some serious love and attention and cleaning products. Its strange how relaxing a good clean can be. I hate it when the water runs down from the mirrors and area near bumper from light. I now take her for a spin round the block then a final dry off. I have never been a fan of those blades for removing excess water. Have you tried the thick drying towels. One wipe and its all gone and streak free. Have a ganders on the Meguires website. I think the softer the material the better and the less you have to go over the same spot the better. R U using the 2 bucket method? I did but got lazy and just make sure I dont scoop down to low into the bucket. I vow to never take it to one of these drive in drive out places though.
  14. R u having fun boming around in your new toy...... Congrats on the purchase!
  15. Enjoy the massive saving we received to fuel duty not! A nice day, rado running well, juiced up, perfect! ---------- Post added at 11:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:11 AM ---------- So not too far away then..... I just hope they keep interest rates low? I am in the same boat Tracker wise but if the goverment fudge it up.... likely..... then reserve some pennies incase it does hike up. Hopefully not
  16. I was just about to call you a lazy something! lol When r u bringing her back to life?
  17. I must have washed my car 3 times in one week! I think I am going to start making a record. Starting from today because its dusty. Who has the most OCD over their cars?
  18. It was good to meet you to, if you are free for the CCGB day, I fancy going up, could meet you somewhere on route? Will look out for your pics when the new manifold is fitted. I thought it was funny that you wanted to compromise your gfriends comfort so the manifold wasnt knocked around lol. Good lad!
  19. My car is fianlly done, had the door re painted and cills re done so they are nice and smooth. The 3 wheels I kerbed are now fixed so we are back in the game. I want to do the mod to change the gear linkage to the MK4 using Polo parts as well, the more I drive it now the more I want a tighter shift. My detailer guy is booked in for the 9th, sat morning and after that, I promise to get some professional pictures taken with a decent camera. Looking forward to meeting you guys and girls this year
  20. Agree with above, it would still be worth dumping the oil and replacing depending when it was last done. I noticed a smoother change when I had this done. PS I have 2 new spring clips that hold the release bearing if you need one. I replaced mine as it disintegarted when removed.
  21. I thought some rads had rod change with ball sockets, my mistake then. Does sound more clutch related. Have you changed the gearbox fluid and or checked the level?
  22. I think it would be worth checking that all mounts and suspension is a good place to start, are the subframe bolts in nice and tight, inc front bumper? Also, have you got rod change? check that the ball sockets to link rods are in good condition, or does your have cable change? The weights on the gearbox, are these secure and are all the gears easy to select? I would also try the car in gear, handbrake on and lift clutch and see what engine movement you've got. People have been know to fit the front mount incorrectly or not do the bolt up correctly. What sort of mounts did you replace the engine with? You said all 3 mounts were changed. What happens if you slowly change gear and slowly release the clutch? Is it any smoother? All the drive train could be in question so its probably a matter of trial an error. Im sure with the other peoples knowledge on here, we can help you solve the problem
  23. Why not bring your ma along? Nice bunch of flowers and a big kiss should do the trick! I am planning on attending, it will be great to see others and meet you all personally, Corozin, if attending, shall we convoy?
  24. I have a set of 4 that came off my 1995 vr6, I can remove springs and send. What do these go for or what r u willing to pay? I only removed them since fitting new coilovers. Rams
  25. I was going to say to do it by hand and not with the roller. The roller displaced the arch as it was too harsh, even trying to use it gently. I would say hammer and dolly or heat the crap out of it and shape it. You might have to respray them though? I had loads of work done on my arches, so know how you're feeling.
