Ok I've had the Corrado for 5 years and even tho she's been sat in a garage for the last two years I still love driving the car. Only problem is since I bought her out in may she has cost me an arm and a leg, had to have 4 new tires, new SS exhaust, front fog and indicators, spark plugs, rotor arm dizzy cap, Ht leads, RHD tie rod end, Ball joint, front discs n pads the list goes on. I finally thought ok that was alot but She makes me smile so now I can just get on and drive it over the summer............... but the car has a sense of humor and after diagnosing a start problem when warm which has got worse since june she now needs new fuel jectors. Sorry if I just ranting ..... So the only places i can get new injectors ( GSf or Eurocarparts ) I'm looking at £40 roughly per injectors times by 4 is £160 ( there goes another limb ) Can anyone suggest any where cheaper or am I just going to have to swallow this and buy them? even thought would it be cheaper or money better spent on changing it digifant? Thanks Vaughn

I am looking at getting my C converted to 'EFi I have searched the forum and have found that I have to main choices for my setup either go digi 1 if I ever go down the route of charging it or get the ABf system and fit that which is what I think I would do as I'm not likekly to go turbo'ing it any time soon. So My question is apart from the engine loom and ecu fromma mk3 golf what else do I need to fit it to my Corrado? and does any one know if this could be a job that be done at home or get a garage to do it? if it is a case of a garage job, can any anyone recommend one? My car is a 1990 spec Corrado with these modifcations 2l Head and block from a audi 80 Engine code 6a, all ancillary's taken from Kr engine KR inlet cam SS exhaust system KN panel filter Thanks to all Vaughn

I Thought I better mention that my bonnet is an early type and I bought the replacement pads from VW cost me £100. I was told when I got my set that their are only 7 Sets left in the UK. :) Thats was about 2 weeks ago (25/01/2011 roughly) EDIT = I was wrong about how many mk1 bonnet sound deadening pads left as today I went to unpack the pads I bought and fit them to find they are for a mk2 Bonnet. Damn Damn Damn....... oh well I'll put them up for sale in the sale section.

After much research on the forum on removing the sound proofing pads from the bonnets and not being able to find a suitable way on getting that bloody glue off, I thought I would share a Technique I have found to work really well. No I didn't set it on fire !!! First I removed as much of the old foam using a sharp plastic scapper. Secondly I then used Methylated spirits with the plastic scapper to remove whats left of the foam. Then to remove the Glue I used Nail Vanish remover, this was applied by spraying the surface of the glue then letting it soak in for a minute. After a min I used the plastic scrapper to scrape off the glue . using the nail varnish and scrapper repeatedly until all the glue was removed. I had removed 90% of the glue in about 45min's. After this I degreased the bonnet and then polished it ready for the new pads to be put on. It was cheap nail varnish I used and a large bottle only cost me £1.20 I think... As a word of advice not best to use the other halfs nail varnish remover they don't seem to like that :)

Hi All After near righting off my C last week (cheap tyres, bad weather and back road just didn't mix) I've been thinking that I.ve been looking at websites and dreaming of buying performance/expensive parts to improve my C to much instead of tweaking it and driving it which is what I bought it for. dont get me wrong if I had the money I would buy my dream parts. But does any one know of other makes and models of cars of which there parts that could be used to tweak/improve the performance of the c either it be for the 16v, vr6. g60 or the 8v most of us have know of the main ones like the golf, passet, seat toleado but are there any others it was just a thought that a list would be handy for future and current modders ? but then again i could be wrong and it could be a waste of time Any input is appreciated Vaughn

Ok bit of an update After it started playing up again on the way topick up the missus last last and then suddenly stopped when I went up the drive and then started again when i drove over a pot hole on the near side. So when I got home i poked my head under the bonnet and cleaned the isv and pipe work with carb cleaner but also found the battery was lose even though it was clamped down, it rocked forward and backward. Also the extra Negative wires that bolt onto the terminals was lose and could make contact with the body. So i Nicked/Swapped the Battery from the missus Citroen TD ZX over and now both batterys in both cars are now secure and don't move and plus I moved the extra connections on the ternimal to the inside of the battery terminal as to move as far away from the body it self. Took it out for a drive last night and the high revs never poped its head up. so after all it was just a lose battery (and now I've said that.....) Thanks for the replys Vaughn

The engine reves high and the rev counter shows it high reving. the odd thing is it dosent do it all the time and if i go over a pot hole (not uncommon on the isle of wight) it may stop the problem. are there any relay s for the isv or the handbrake ?

Morning Everyone My Corrado 16v was a 1.8 now a 2l has seemed to have developed a strange problem as in now and then but it is getting more often if i start the car and sit there letting it idle its perfectly fine but once I release the handbrake the reves climb to about 3.5k at this point I'm not touching anything, then if I put the handbrake back om the reves drop back to normal. now I've disconnected the ISV when this happens and it drops the reves but then it can't idle at all, i have just serviced her but the problem was there before the service. Has any one got an idea of where I could start to solve this problem as Ive searched the forum and have has a few places to look but to no avail on solving the problem. Thanks for any and all help Vaughn

Hope me putting this in this threat was right and if it wasn't Sorry Mods. I want to modify the downpipe on my C. The engine was a the 1.8 16v but is now a 2L (6A head and block) I can't afford a Nice new 4branch ( oh that would be Nice) so i got a 2L down pipe off of Flusted ( Thanks Mate) but a need for the time being to mate it up the the middle rear box( the square one ) till i can save enough money and have a full SS system fitted. So I ask any one know where i Could buy a length off pipe with the Dia of 55mm long enough to go from the 2l downpipe to the box? Any advice would be great Thanks in advance

If my Memory servers my right The Kr Ecu also controls Idle revs depending on load e.g lights being on and/or radio so to keep engine running.

fJust a quick question umm well actually two quick questions. Just phoned my local vag and asked for prices on a throttle position switch and a afterrun switch and they said for the TPS is £59.61 and £12.92 + vat Its for a 1.8 KR 16v (its really a kr 2l) Is this right? Does any one have the part numbers for these parts just so i can make sure they got the right ones? Thanks for any help Vaughn

I have these tires on the my Corrado on the back. They perform very well for budget tyre. Stick quite well in the dry and not too bad in the wet as long as you try not to push the cornering too much. HTH

Flusted If I've got any funds at the end of the month I may have that idle pulley from you but if i can source ABF Pulleys then I'll go for them. Does any one have a pic of a ABF engine showing the pulleys? I know its a long shot.

David I've got the 2L head and block from a audi (Engine code 6a). you originally help me in the right direction when i thought about doing the conversion. Thanks for that. I'm going to be putting in the Kr cam on Tuesday hopefully so i thought doing the pulleys in the same day. Flusted Do you mean you have an idle pulley that is in good nick?

I'm sure people who have the 1.8 16v am aware of the water pump idle pulley rattling with age at certain revs. Well Mine is really getting on my nerves. After greasing it and cleaning it it lasts for a while then rattles. Ive searched on the forum as I'm sure in the past I came across a topic saying that the pulleys were changed due to this problem and therefore getting rid of the idle pulley altogether. But damn if I can find it again(Which is Typical). Could some please point me to it or Tell me parts or engine i need to look at? thanks in advance.

Hi all MY mate has broken his gear linkage on hhis C 16v 1.8. I ve been to VAG to source a part but all that has broken is the sqaure metal piece on the end of the rod -- it snaped off. they say i have to order a whole new rod to get the square end piece cos it look like it cannot be bougth on its own. they say. they want £76 ~+ vat . do think this is right ? if not can anyone help me? Vaughn

Well I've got the 6A engine in and its running ok. but I havent put the KR inlet cam in yet and she hasent been fully tuned, Ive got to run her in for a week and then have the cam put in, chang oil again and give her a tune. At the mo I was told that she is in her current stat that she is only getting 80 in third and 90 in forth would this be right ? I'm hoping when her cam goes in it will sort this. an also tuned right. Thanks Vaughn
