I need some suggestions about my faulty clifford alarm.
Since Tuesday both key fobs fail to unlock/disarm the car alarm - which means I have to use the damn switch thing to enter the valet code (not as easy as it sounds) to start the car.
I've tried new batteries in both key fobs - one of which has never been used. I've also cleared the fobs from the unit, following the instructions, and then tried to re-bind them, but no luck. The alarm seems to work ok, except for the fobs.
The alarm was fitted when I bought the car - in 1999 and the fitter no longer deals with Clifford.
Any suggestions short of getting a new alarm. I wanted to spend my saved cash on some coilovers or a new exhaust!!!
I left my car out in the heavy rain last night (might not be related) and now my C wont idle for more than 5 seconds before dying.
I've searched the forum and want to give my ISV a clean, but after reading countless posts and checking my engine bay, I cant find the damn thing!
So could someone be so kind as to point the blind man and his white stick to the ISV in the photo?
Much appreciated....
Saw a black VR6, Reg **** JNP I think, on Wherstead Road, Ipswich, Friday 31st, about 5:30 ish. Looked nice and clean, fairly standard although it looked like it was lowered.
Thanks for this, would I be able to tell (or a garage for that matter) by taking the head off first and inspecting it - might be worth doing before committing to a full rebuild?
The engine seems fine on power :D but drinks oil, which I am told could be piston rings, hence the rebuild. I originally thought valve stem seals, but it doesn't kick out smoke when I start it.
I also have to replace the plugs fairly often ~8k as I am getting ALOT of carbon build up.
A bit vague this question, but how much can I expect (roughly) to pay for an engine rebuild?
My car has nearly done 130k miles now and I'd ideally like to restore the car to last me a few more years (it had done 65k when i bought it!), but I will only do this if I can be sure the car is mechanically sound first...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
