Help, i'm tepmted to sell my corrado!!!
JIMMI replied to matt_corradovr6's topic in General Car Chat
I know a bit about M3's, ive had as many of them as ive had corrado's and i do rate them. ive had an E30,2 E36's & currently have an E46 cab. The best one is the E46, forget people saying the E30 is the best, it isnt its LHD and has 200hp! the E46 has the spec & the power but are still expensive only rough ones are sub 20k. The E36 is an excellent buy ive had both the EVO & non EVO cars, the evo is a good chunk quicker and worth the extra sheets but remember it will probably want a VANOS replacement which is £1.5 - 2k. Speed wise they are a big car and they are pretty smooth so their speed is deceptive, my E46 goes well it has been de-limited and has pulled 175mph on the clock and an EVO E36 will be somewhere near speedwise and a nice one can be bought for 8k, they are a bargain in my opinion. 3corsameal wrote Have a look for me mate, reg. no of this one is F240BVV any more info or anything else on these early cars would be excellent !! Jim wrote Yeah mate its going to 100% original even down to the head unit & no. plates. If you look @ my members gallery you can see im handy enough so this should turn out to be a nice car ! Coxy wrote Ill look thru the history to see if i can see any mention of his name, i'd of thought it will be probably the same car chances of 2 up north are pretty slim. Goldie & Purpley dude i doubt i will be driving this 16v on saturday, ill probably be in my van or the GF's motor to be honest, im a bit of a fanny when it comes to cars so i wont be driving this car until its 100% finished !! Ill take some pictures of it tommorow its too dark now, should i add it onto my VR6 gallery or start a new one ? I'd of thought new one to be honest. Jimmi....................

Coxxylad wrote Na mate it came from sunderland, previous owner was from Richmond way on tho, he had it for 6-7 years or so. Guy i bought it from had only owned it six month or so. Ill post some pictures up of it some time today. Jimmi..............

I bought it ! I viewed the car on sat morning, however the guy was wanting too much money for the car, i made him an offer which he declined. But obviously with christmas looming and my offer burning a hole in his pocket he foned me yesterday afternoon and acccepted my offer. He dropped it off & went on his way leaving the corrado on my farm. The car is a bit of a find, it IS the actual car tested by Jeremy Clarkson and What Car magazine. one of the previous owners has wrote into VW and they have sent a letter back with a little history on the car, they have also sent out some picture negatives showing clarkson standing next to it & it driving on Pendle sands. The issue of What car magazine is also with it with loads of pics of the car being tested against Nissans 200SX & Toyotas Celica. The history with it is unreal. It has done 190k & has Full VW history, last being serviced in the summer ! all of its old MOT's, Tax discs are present, even the "VAG Press Fleet" Tax disc holder is still present ! Car is remarkably tidy, there is only one piece of rust on the whole car which is round the petrol cap, the sand from pendle must of been lodged in there back in 89!! It has had an A1 respray done at some point but at this time they have smoothed the VW badge from the rear & removed the side rubbing strips. My plan is to Repair the rust around the filler, "unsmooth" the rear panel & refit the side strips. The wheels are non standard OZ rims so they will be getting ditched for some Sebrings. I am going to refit all of the correct badges as well. The interior is tidy, the drivers seat is worn on the bolster which needs sorting but apart from that everything is there and it all works. i would like an original or period aftermarket head unit if anyone can give me some model numbers so i can look on ebay. I will get all of the jobs done on it in the next few weeks. i want it to be really nice and original. It is a piece of Corrado history. Going to do a wanted ad now. Jimmi......................

Cheers for the pic KADVR6, thats what i was thinking about ! Ill be able to make it myself, im not into the bling of the polished aluminium to be honest, i think it would look more purposeful either satin black or colour matched to the car ! I dont think ill be bothering with the ICE on show either, i was thinking of a Helmet net instead !! The more ideas i have the faster i want the car finished !!!! Jimmi....................

I personally think the cage is a better idea, ill never sit in the back of the car so the rear seats will never get used, 2 front seats will be enough i think ! If i do make the boot floor flush and build a 1/2 cage there are a few bits im unsure on. 1 if i remove the rear seatbelts there will be holes on the c pillar trims.2 the parcel shelf supports with the speakers in will look daft if i leave them in, but will probably look worse with out them, ill probably have to make some sort of trims to cover up whats left when they are removed !! I think a cage will make the car more purposeful rather than a luxury limousine, which i think is more appropriate !! Anyone got any pics of rados with roll cages fitted ???????????? Amonst the other mechanical transformations my Corrado is goin under this winter im going to tackle the interior, ive fitted a set of really nice TT front seats, i also managed to fit the rear TT seats but they look terrible, The fronts are ace and arent going anywhere, the rears dont look nowhere near as good as the original seats. My first plan was to have the oe corrado rear seats retrimmed to match the fronts. ive looked into this but the trimmers cannot match the smooth audi leather on the front seats, the stuff they suggested had a much heavier grain and looked more like vinyl to me !! cost £550 Second plan was to have the seat covers removed from the tt rears and put onto the Corrado seats, the trimmer said that there wasnt enough leather to do this and he would have to make some of it up with his own leather which in my opinion will look even woirse !! cost £450 3rd plan is to do without rear seats and fit a custom roll cage, i would make the boot floor flush with the rear seat hole and have a nice cage made to fit. Has anyone got any pictures of a rado with a nice flat boot floor and a 1/2 cage fitted ? Anyones input would be appreciated ! Jimmi............

Ive got a bit more info now, reg no. is F240BVV, apparantly the car has full VW history & a nice factfile with info & all the articles it was included in even pictures with clarkson driving it on a beach somewhere. Going to look @ it tommorow so ill see for sure then. The interior with leather on the sides i guess this is the same as all early corrado's rather than just the press cars ?? Any links would be good as id like to know as much about it as possible before i go to look at it. Also what wheels are standard, if i buy it i want it to be exactly the same spec as when it left the factory. Jimmi,,,,,,

Ive searched but cant really find much, hopefully someone will be able to shed a little more light. Jimmi.......

Hi guys been offered a 1989 F plate corrado which is for sale local to me. the guy reckons its the actual test car from What Car magazine & has the issue from 89 to prove it. Car is nice and clean and standard apart from the wheels and possibly the seats. Does anyone know much about the press cars or know where i can find out more ? Im thinking it may be a little bit of an investment and if its mint and 100% standard it will be a good companion for my now very non standard VR6. Anyone have any idea of its value ? Cheers Jimmi.............................

Goldie wrote Id be up for that, however ive got no motor in my car so ill have to get towed there by a camper van or summit !!! Jimmi..........

Pleased your happy with the car then mate !! You should have one of the fittest VR6 engines about now, did it feel much faster on your way home ? The car was running A1 really smooth and quiet, just the way they should !! Below are those pictures i promised you !!! check my mate out in the back of the winnebago waving !!! Cheers for the reply mate is a 75 ohm resister easily available from the likes of maplins ??? also do the wires from the sensor go straight into the back of the clocks or do they go to the ecu ? i would like to do a continuity test on them. cheers. jimmi.........

I thought they did, all the ones i have seen have. The corrado interior is really dark but its part of its character i think, i doubt the colour of the headcloth will make much difference to be honest !! Im gonna put a passat glass roof in which should counteract the black cloth, i just need the trim around the sunroof "hole" in black and some sunroof controls, suppose i could dye the trim & paint the sunroof switches if needs be !! JSB Racing Shiftlight kit - Pre-order for next batch
JIMMI replied to mrbeige's topic in Suppliers Forum
Yeah mate ill have one, how do you want me to pay ? is Paypal. okay ?? Jimmi............ -
As above really, my interior is all black and i think the white headlining looks out of place !! I am going to retrim the cloth in black alcantara but the sunroof trim & sunroof controls will then be white. I need to find which if any corrados have these two parts in black, or maybe a passat sunroof trim will work, im unsure. Any help will be cool. Jimmi..............

I take it these are only for the 4cyl cars @ the monent ? Are you gonna do one for the VR6's ? Im sure you will sell enough to be worth the development ! I can send you my clocks down to have a look @ or im sure someone could send you a wiring diagram for one. Ill 100% have a VR6 one if you make one. Jimmi............................................ -
Hi dudes Ive got a VR6 here with a non functioning temperature gauge, it wont even move from the stop. Ive changed both the Yellow & Blue temp sensors with brand new VAG items today and it still wont register anything on the gauge. Im thinking its either a problem with the wiring or a fault in the clocks, so i need to earth the gauge out to see if i can get any sort of reading, which wires do i need to earth out on the yellow sensor to do this ??? Cheers Jimmi...................

Guys im rebuilding my corrado over the next month or two and i am going to paint/powder coat all of the suspension, steering, engine, parts. im a little undecided on which colours to go for. which is where a little feedback will be helpful, the car is flash red so i was thinking of using some red in it as a theme. i have yet to think about the engine bay but i have a picture in my head for the chassis, my ideas so far are, Ill paint the following in red, same shade as car, Hubs, disc carriers, ARB's, track rods, driveshafts the koni's are red and so are the boxster calipers so they will match. Ill powdercoat the following in a sparkly silver, Bottom arms, front crossmember, rear crossmember, steering rack, rear beam, tank straps, sump. Does anyone think this will be too much ? and should i just have everything done satin black as it was when new, id rather improve it with some colour tbh. or should i do it all in bright yellow !!! Ha Ha. Jimmi...........................

Ive seen a few pics of engine bays where people have covers on the top of the suspension struts where they come into the bay, i take it these where fitted to other VAG motors as my 94 VR6 doesnt have them, could anyone tell me what they are from so i can get my paws on some, they wont be too expensive from the dealers. cheers jimmi..............................

Need a bit of help guys, i need to strip the front hubs & driveshafts from my car, ive got the hubs pretty bare and disconnected from the shocks & bottom arms the only things that is still on them are the driveshafts the big 30mm huts on the end of them are off but i still cannot get the driveshaft out of the hub, i dont want to whach them too hard incase i mash the threads. So am i doing something wrong or am i being a pussy & not hitting it hard enough?????????????? Jimmi.......................................
