hhmmm yes..i have had relay problems when going to start a few times and noticed the blower/lights wouldn't come on. took panel off to get at relays and when i fiddled with the relay for these they suddenly came on so maybe a loose connection. i'll have a look see. the recent fuel problem cuts in and out instantly so feels more like a dodgy (electrical) connection somewhere..acceleration seems fine under normal driving. ill try to replace the relays and see if that fixes things.. thanks for your help. :)

so, for the last few days when driving along the power cuts out and the engine slows..if i push the accelerator pedal and give it a rev it will jerk and pick up speed again but randomly cut out a bit later. for those who ride a bike it's like reaching the end of the tank and needing to switch to reserve whilst going along. it feels like a fuel problem as it does it at any speed or gear. could it be a failing fuel pump or blocked filter?? as it's an auto, it sometimes clears when i put it into neutral, give it a boot to rev it high and then put back into gear to keep driving.. idle speeds seem fine, and there seems to be no indication when it will happen..on slow town roads or motor ways the same thing. not got a VAG set up but could try to find one locally - but would this show up if a pump error? the fuel lines seem fine, no leaks or snags?? took to local garage but obvio it was behaving itself then and so the guy couldn't see anything wrong? anyone had this happen or similar? thanks for any help.. mornin - enjoying the sun i hope finally..:) got a VAG-Com reading the other week from Dan_Storm (ta mate) and this is the result - had ABS light come on randomly whilst drivin. Address 03: ABS Brakes Controller: 1H0 907 379 D Component: ABS TEVES 04 3 Faults Found: 00532 - Supply Voltage B+ 35-00 - - 00290 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Rear Left (G46) 35-00 - - 00793 - Brake Pedal Position Sensor (G100) are the wheel sensors simple enopugh to replace..i know the rear bearing need sorting outt soonish so could do it all together..but not sure what code 00532 Supply voltage B+ means... is there a code book which explains what they all mean? thanks guys..

wicked..will have a play at the weekend hopefully. Can you order the bit online (gaskets etc..) or is it something halfords might have plus fluid/lubs...not got much opportunity to go shopping around. local parts place is quite small and they always seem not to have any bits for the C. :(

Had to go into town today and thought i'd try the C, and lo and behold it all worked fine. shifted up through 1,2,3 and 4 no prob, kicked down from 4 to 3 and then to 2..so all seems fine for now. will still connect to VAGCOM when i get a chance and see what the readings are..mileage is about 128K. how easy/difficult is it to change the ATF? not got too much parking space to work under the car..will i need to lift it onto axle stands? i got a fairly good mechanical sense but is there a write up of the procedure somewhere to make sure, not got a manual. ta
-
ok, latest is it doesn't move out of 3rd unless manually done. i can go through 1,2 and 3, but on D stays in 3 and doesn't change down. hmm..probably be good to have an auto specialist take a peek.

cheers Fla, i'll have a play ...

i have a VAGCOM cable which should work with Ross-tech software, but as i am a Mac man and no PC laprtop to be seen i cannot hook up my Macbook to the car as i haven't found any OS X compatible software..anyone with a spare PC laptop floating around in Epsom area???? :) :)

in the end my local 'friendly' mechanic said it was the oil pump as the bearings had gone or summin and so after a new pump, oil/filter change all seems well.

Hi, Auto 2L 8v '94 So got into the C this morning and on the way to town noticed it wasn't changing up into 4th. it was slow traffic so i thought just didn't have enough speed, so went the long country road way and still only sits in 3rd and won't change up. Also noticed it doesn't kick down either, can change using the manual shift, but if in D goes up from 1 - 3 as normal and sits there...all was fine when i left it ;ast Thursday. i did leave my lights on though and had to take the battery out to recharge over night, but put it back in yesterday and started fine, didn't drive it tough..only this morning. any ideas? i will check the ATF levels but didn't' see any leak under the car when i looked. need to find someone with VAGCOM close by as was gonna meet a dude in Slough today to use his cable for my ABS light as it keep going on, but didn't want a 40mile motorway trip with only 3 gears!! last year i had the C in a garage and they had to order a knocker sensor which took ages, but the mechanic said it wasn't kicking down when he checked it before ordering the sensor..could it be the same thing? pulling away is slow..you can hear the engine rev but movement is slow to start - similar to a clutch slipping if you can imagine..could it be something like that? not got too much mechanical experience with Autos so not sure where to start... thanks guys..

Thanks Andy, no worries on waiting, just wondering what was happening or if you had legged it to Spain with all our dough..:) thanks for the update and look forward to it. F.

hello..anyone out there??? Mod ??? anyone...
-
hi, anyone near Epsom in Surrey, (seen a few on page 1 but in needs updating) as ABS light keeps coming on...
-
Like andy has said on a few occasions that he wont be making much money on these, I have no probs adding an extra £5 or so on the to the cost. After all he is doing most of us a favour by making these in his own time... i hear that!!! 8) 8)

thanks Crasher, will see how much i can do myself, and then take it to a local guy. cheers.

hi, i have an 2.0 L 8v Auto from '94. after a recent trip to Europe and nearly 3500 miles, i have noticed a sluggish start when pulling off from the lights or stand still. it feels like the gears aren't engaging stright away, but only pulling off in 1st. there is about a 1-2 second delay before the car moves..can it be like the clutch is slipping ( not sure what clutch is has as it's an auto)? any ideas?
-
Not sure if Andy is still about....or if anyone has heard anything from him. I understand that a lot of peeps are after him for the looms, and he has a lot on etc., but be good to know if there is still going to be a trade to be made or not. Andy, can you let us know if you are planning to still make the looms or not mate, put us out of our misery. :) Maybe he needs an apprentice to help supply all the demand..any offers? elecs not really my strong point..

thanks for the help. Before the trip i took it into a local dude near Reading to have a look and he replaced the water pump, themostat, and i replaced the water temp sensor and rad fan switch. As it happens i took it into a guy here in Warsaw and we chacked everything with a lazer thermometer and the rad is at a constant 90- 95 with the fan kicking in occasionally, and all seems fine but the guage is showing a temp of 110 insdide on the dash..faulty temp sensor in the top rad pipe. did about 500 miles in the last 2 days and seems fine, so i think problem found. Could probably do with a new rad as is looking a bit old but after 13 years not surprised. :)

hi guys, did about 600 miles the other day through Germany to Poland, car went well but is running hot i think? is a water temp of 105 - 110 too high..it sits there all day and fan kicks in and off and needle moves a lil bit. through town is about 108 ish, out on open road or motorway about 105ish..but used to be 90 all day long. Recently got new water pump, thermostat, switches and whole lot and service but in my opinion 110ish is a bit high. oil goes from 100 to 110 at high revs and long motorway journeys. any ideas where i can look and what might need changing/doing. appreciate your help as am a bit lost.
-
just wanted to check temp levels... when i first got the car last May water temp sat at 90 nearly all day with slight movement. over recent months the average reading went down slowly and so replaced the thermo switches and sensors. Then i saw i was getting high water temps up 110 and 115. So took it in for a look and the old pump was seizing and not pumping so got new pump and thermostat. Got car back, and temp slowly risrs to 100 around town and sits about there. Rises up to 110 and fan kicks in after driving dual carrigeways and sitting in town traffic. not sure how hot is ok..but not seen more than 112ish. as for oil, sits about 100 all day throught town, motoway blasts up to 106/108 generally, and goes abck to 100 in slower driving. But recently did 20 miles on motorway and is went up to 118. came off at junction and it slowly went back down..but is 118 too high..never seem it there before..chacked levels but seems fine. was a hot day but ... what are the 'normal' boundries for running temp?? am taking the C over to France next week and will expect hot sunny driving days :) but a bit worried about high temps - what can i expect to be normal and when to start to worring about getting too hot? thanks
-
hi, changed the switch at the weekend and all looks good so far. Temp sits at 95-100 most of the time..rises just a bit to about 106/7 after ages in traffic and after a motorway 20 miles or so..so seems to keep low and cool and so job done. thanks for the help..

yep it has...gotta shoot of for do a job now so will have a play tomorrow.... cheers for the help.
