I think he was upset cause in his mind he has got his price but like you say its worth no where near the asking price mate. He has driven that car very hard since he bought it off me and i hate to say it but reckon its been driven hard from cold more than a few timesand its not had the level of looking after that I gave it. one service in about 15k :( The engine sounded sweet when I sold it but its alot noisier now. Still pulled ok though when wound up.

Thanks for your help as always will let you know how we get on over the next few weeks.

Hello everyone, we are going to have our Vr6 engine rebuilt and supercharged this year in preparation for next yeaars shows. We were just wondering whats the best way to upgrade the brakes to match the engine power increase? Do we need bigger calipers, discs etc or would better quality discs and pads suffice? The front discs and pads really need replacing now so we are looking at carrying out the work on the braking system presently. Any thoughts and help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I think matt was a bit upset mate. but your right it does need a respray and that needs doing properly as well. What did you think of the interior? Toby at TAG was good as gold, we were waiting for some of the parts for about three weeks and he kept the car in his workshop every night securley until it was ready to pick up without a moan or charging us any extra. The engine was sweet as a nut when it came back, and a lot quiter with timing chains, tensioners etc done. Cant really fault toby for his work and at £25 an hour labour would recomend him to anyone. If you want his number let us know. Timmy

Thats my old Vr6 it was a lovely car before i sold it, leather/alcantara was in super condition, body and paint were pretty good, engine and box spot on, rebuilt by TAG and fresh clean as a whistle under the bonnet. It was really looked after, oil changes intervals less than 5k any problems rectified immediatley with all recipets to prove.. Due to a change in circumstances it had to go. :( .. Looked at it myself when Matt came over to weymouth recently; you are right paintwork not what it was, bit tatty inside and needs a new windscreen noisey alternator and tappets. Still goes very well for a near standard vr6 but the engine is noisey now compared to what it was. Shame really, might have bought it back for the memories it holds but for a lot less than 4k, its definatley not worth that much.

TIMMYVR replied to willg95vr6's topic in General Car Chat
When we went up to santa pod on sunday we put in £60 of fuel in the vr6 with the price per litre @ 107.9 :(. This came out about 56 litres. We got 422 miles ot of it which was quite pleasing we thought? -
Hi mate wellcome to the forum, my old G60 did that once, and it was something to do with the fueling being turned up to much. Not entirley sure of the finer details but Im sure one of the G60 boys will be able to help you with more details.

Hello dredgey, just fitted a system with two Jl subs, and a set of jl Vr components. I used the Exile amplifiers, these are produced by the same people who design Pheonix Gold amplifiers. At the moment they can be sourced quite cheaply brilliant power delivery, excellent build quality and crystal clear sound for the money. Speak to Billy at Bornemouth Car Hifi, and say timmy from Weymouth put you in touch. Im sure he will do you a deal.

My old vr is still about, ill have to try and get hold of the chap and see if I can try it. Would a faulty MAF sensor effect Bhp ? Thanks again to all of you for your help and advice. Timmy

It pulls ok up through second and third, but before it used to pull hard from about 3000rpm but now it still pulls but not as well, seems to hit the power later and not as strong.

Hello everyone, tried the optimax fuel the car is a little better but still not quite right. It just doesnt seem to wind up quite right. I unpluged the air flow meter last night there was a slight drop in the revs for a second but then the car kept running. Was wondering if this could be one of the probs. :(

Hello everyone, just started using my 95 Vr6 again on sunday its been layed up for about three weeks although started every couple of days and run up to temperature. But the vr roar that it had and all you vr owners know so well :D seems to have lost its deepness, and sounds somewhat raspy. Also although it pulls ok in 2nd and third, it just seems to have lost some of its go and is a bit flat in places in the rev range, definatley not as quick it was before bein layed up. Anyone got any ideas? Cheers Timmy

Hi mate this might sound stupid, but did you fit the plug leads using the proper tool? The first time I ever changed my leads I didnt have the tool and used a screwdriver . Not only did i manage not to secure the leads onto the plug tops properley but i also damaged the insulation, the lead ends were no longer properly insulated and were arking out on the cylinder head causing rough idle and under load miss fire. Hope this is some help to you. Cheers Timmy

Hello everyone not sure if this has been covered recently, but i have an N reg VR6. it warms up and water temperature gradually rises to 110 on the gauge and it stays there, doesnt go up or down. have changed the sensor on the front of the block and repaired one of the wires which was broken, but no better. I know the engine cant relly be that hot as i took the expansion tank cap off and it didnt boil over. my old Vr6 used to sit in the middle of the temperature range, and so does my mates. Any ideas on why its doin this? thanks again everyone for all your help. timmy

Hello everyone, am just in the middle of fitting a new i s o lead to the jumble of wires from where the previous owner had massacred the plug! However i dont seem to be able to get switched ignition live and the wire stays at earth all the time. checked all the fuses and all are fine with continuity across them. Any ideas whether there are any more fuses hidden any where?

Hi mate if you fit the tweeters hi up you will lift imaging but could find it a bit harsh even throgh a high quality amp. I played around with a set of JL Audio 3 way Xr's in my old vr6. Eventually i made some door builds for the sixes and fitted the fours and tweeters in the kick panels, rebuilding them so that the speakers angled up towards the listeners ears, it also meant that the mids were not to distant from the woofers, so there was no gap in the different area of the sounds reaching your ears. It was a fair amount of work, but really worthwhile in the end.
