I'll have two sets in the next group buy :)

Hey Tom, Have you been able to check that part number? Cheers, Steve

Want a 2.0l 8v ECU, Part number 037 906 024 AF Cheers, Steve

Could a roof rack have been an OEM option?
-
Possibly and I think that the battery that I have is larger than the standard one. I will look into it, Cheers! Apart from finding a passages seat on eBay and taking it apart, I don’t know where else to get a new bolster. It seems that every day you hear of a Rado part becoming obsolete
-
Just gone to VW this lunchtime to purchase a new seat bolster for the 8v, part No. 535881378B, and they are now obsolete since the 27/7/10 :( Battery jacket/cover is also obsolete since April this year :mad2: The parts guy says that its unlikely that these parts will ever get back in stock again. I hope he is wrong!

Saw a Raddo in the Eden car park in High Wycombe. I was in my girlfriends Celica. It was quite a distance away but the number plate look familiar from here on the forum.
-
That was me driving my 8v  The Storm was tucked away in the garage :D The 8v has a after market Rieger eyebrow spoiler. Good to see another Raddo and get a wave.

The Storm has been SORNed since last November and I just had it taxed for 6 months a couple of weeks ago. I really miss driving it and only managed to go out on it once since than. Weather permitting I'll take it out for a blast tomorrow or Friday when I'm off work. I got a small oil leak which I think might coming from the back of the chromed rocker cover. I've already had it off and back on again by Stealth but it hasn't cured it. If it can't be cured, I might have to put the plastic cover back on again :( Have you heard if there is going to be another Maidenhead/Berkshire meet this year? Last one was really good with a good strong showing of numbers :D

Passed MOT on Friday with only an issue with headlight beam alignment which was sorted by the test centre. Result!

Onboard mini cameras. Cheap and awesome!
Steve Storm replied to raddo_tom's topic in General Car Chat
Where did you mount it the camera? Any photos? -
If the remap was done before the cams were changed and not after, it may be why it was causing issues. If that wasn't the case, it may be that the Kent cam was racing cams rather than fast road. Racing cams may be fine on the racing course but not for everyday driving. The exhaust seemed quite loud and it was slightly leaking between all 3 joints. The leaking has now been fixed. I had all the interior out and that's why it seem really loud without all that soundproofing. Now its back in, its fine and I'll be keeping the exhaust :D

Hey James! Good to hear from you  I was going to send you a link to the thread but you beat me to it. As you can see I'm taking good care of the car :D I heard that Ice Grey Violet was never available to the US market, but you could get it in Canada. I had it on the rolling road at Storm Dev. the other week. 130bhp :D are you sure they set the map to standard when they took the Kent cams off?

I need to get a decent polishing machine. Have you got any suggestions on one I should get? I bought one 5 years ago that plugs in the cigarette lighter that I never use. Its quite pathetic
-
Thanks! I will need to give it a good polish sometime to show the paint in its full glory 8)

Its been awhile since I posted any updates. The most notable update has been that I have removed the grey interior and swapped it with black. Seems so much more comfortable now :D I haven't done the dash yet. I'm planning to tackle this when I have a free weekend and I know that the weather will hold out. To be honest it doesn't look much out of place with the rest of the interior. I've bought a leather steering wheel off eBay and will be fitting it over this weekend. The rubber one just doesn't feel right. A couple of weeks ago I made trip to Storm Developments and had the ignition barrel replaced which had been playing up since I bought the car. I also had the car on the rolling road to see how much it was pushing out as it has always seem to be so much more powerful than the other 8v that I had. The result was 130bhp  not bad for a 2.0l 8v, standard is 115bhp. I'll post the graph once I have a chance to scan it in. Thanks guys. I had taken the fuse box cover off before I stored the car so I removed the fuel pump relay, No. 167. Turned the key for a couple of seconds, plugged the relay back in and fired the car strait up with no hesitation. Not bad for being sat for six months in a bag. Here's some photos of it coming out :D climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfStorm 1.jpg[/attachment:17do0z9q] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfStorm 2.jpg[/attachment:17do0z9q]

That's the kind of thing I want to do. Crank it over without any fueling. Do you know what number/position the fuel pump relay is?
-
As the temperature is warming I would like to get the Storm out of storage for the summer months. Before I start the car up properly, I would like to turn the engine over a couple of times without firing it up. I've done this before for the last few years but can't remember which relay I need to pull out. I think it was the ECU relay or the Fuel Pump relay. Does anyone know which one it is and what number/location it is?
