  1. It's an excellent upgrade and defo well worth doing IMO. OBD2 ECU is a vast improvement. Engine's more lively & more responsive. Tricky bit is the re-wiring (unless you know your onions). Mechanicals is just swapping stuff. I think there's a guide knocking around, possibly in the Wiki and defo one on Corrado Canada.

You'll need:- ECU; engine loom; inlet manifold; throttle body & mass airflow sensor (MAF) from a Mk3 AAA (or equiv.). Can't just remember if you need the fuse box, too, but probably not. If you plan to keep the VW immobiliser (inadvisable) you'll also need the transponder & key.

The parts are often found as a kit for around £200-250 on forums or eBay. If you get them piecemeal I could do you an inlet.

Only downside is you lose MPG readout from the MFA. Often wondered if you could swap the MFA from the Golf to sort that out but never got around the finding out.

  2. They are still a very good buy even with the lacquer peeling issue after all it doesn't affect the overall operation of the brakes;)

Maybe not but the mileage on the calipers does... whatever that might be... and in that respect, as I pointed out, the original post is very misleading.

Now that the original post's been restored after mysteriously disappearing overnight, that's undeniable.

Doesn't inspire confidence, mate. Know what I mean?

  3. Where's red arrow's original post disappeared to and where's his reply to my post at 10.37pm last night (16th) shortly after that?

Thanks for your input KADVR6. I assume you supplied the pic of them as they were prior to being fitted, posted in response to my request.

So the pads, discs and hoses have 1500 miles on them on KADVR6's old car, but the calipers have, presumably, the same 1500 miles plus whatever the original Cupra R miles plus anything else in-between, then. Red arrow's original post was rather less specific about that.

Still like to see some pics of their current condition and, especially a close-up of the lacquer peeling, if poss.

  4. Anton if you're answering Tristan H I should check the date of his post.

No, nothing to do with Tristan H.

It was nrc's earlier post that Mk3 controls are interchangeable with Corrado ones. My control panel vent control has broken (I think) and I'm looking for a quick fix. Just wanted to know if the control panel from a Mk 3 is a straight swap, like the Passat one.

  5. I'm after the plastic cover/handle thing that fits onto the metal stub sticking out of the side of the driver's seat that operates the tilt mechanism. It's the black thing the seat belt gets stuck behind when you're trying to put the belt on.

Mine's broken - plastic fatigue - and it's doing my finger no good at all trying to access the back seat from the driver's side without one.

  6. They're not too bad. They're in need of a good old wire brushing, a lick of hammerite or whatever and new boots & seals. The repair kits aren't pricey from VAG or BiggRed.

Or you could go the whole hog and send them to BiggRed and get them polymer coated. The coating is impervious to brake fluid and they can't rust then. They'll do new boots & seals included in the price at the same time. I did my fronts & rears and although a bit pricey it was well worth it for durability.

Cambridge is a breeze from West London, straight up the A1M, off at Baldock, Royston by-pass & A505. An hour and a bit tops. Come and have a nice day out, mate.

  7. 02M shifter & cables with an 02J shift tower makes the Gemini change really, really nice. OEM 6 speed knob should fit straight on, too.

There's a thread on Club Gti forum with brass bushings uprades to the box which are also well worth looking into. I'll try and find it if anyone's interested.

Got all this done on my Gemini at Stealth and works an absolute treat.

Late VR6 pedalbox in very good condition - £55

Late VR6 driveshafts in OK condition- £40

    2 sets 288mm calipers & carriers needing refurb - £45 a set

Late additions, also from a late model VR6:-
