  1. Hi. oilman. Sorry not corrado related but wondered if you could advise? (didn't get answer from Audi Forum yet,) My wife has a 1.8 t quattro avant 2002 as in title it has done 114000m and has started to use a little oil (Is this normal?) Plugs look good no fouling or wetness, no visible leaks around engine or bay. Did recover from the black death(oil pick-up pipe replaced) last year, had complete compression and diagnostic check afterwards, all OK. Car runs well and pulls well. question i'm asking is should I be putting a thicker oil in now to compensate for wear? still using recommended 5W-30, I know this is an old school trick to 'up' compression in old engines is this still relevant? my thinking being a slightly thicker oil wouldnt get past the piston rings quite so easily if it 'was' being burnt? do have slight turbo whine but was told not to worry about this? engine runs cool if anything. any suggestions, please, thanks. Vince. P.S. Apologies if anybodys read this before in the engine bay section,I have only just found this thread (doh) :?

  3. Hi. Thanks for the replies. Have looked at the Rosstech site, slightly confusing, which system would I need to do my three cars? and why does it bang on about fees if its free? I guess I would also need two different adaptor leads for the corrados and the Audi , or perhaps that dual one as listed on ebay? what operating system is required(windows level) what problems are there to get it going? Also would it be possible to list any of the recommended handhelds from the magazine or is there a link for the article if its online? Sorry for the bucket load of questions  Thanks again . Vince. :)
  4. Hi all. I have been wanting to get hold of some form of diagnostic reader, but am at a bit of a loss at which one to get,if any? Can anybody tell me if there are any handheld devices that can be used for OBD1 and OBD2,as I would like to read codes and delete service lights, etc from my two corrado's (16v & vr6) and also my wifes Audi A4 1.8t , I'm pretty sure this is a bit of a tall order as I get the impression OBD1 & OBD2 are quite different? if thats the case what does anybody use on there cars? or do I have to have a laptop and expensive program? I have seen that halfords have one for OBD2 made by Gunsen's for 140 pounds or so,is this a good one? would this do OBD1? would they have different type adaptors or something? Sorry to sound a bit thick on this subject, but have never really come across the difinitive answer. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks. Vince. :)
  5. Thought these were quite funny  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volkswagen-Radiat ... 2559c31b8d
  6. Hi. A bit late on picking up on this but just wanted to pass on my best wishes in getting over this, your car was an inspiration to me and I suspect many others. I hope you can jump back up in the saddle again soon. :) Best wishes. Vince.
  7. Hi.all. got this job to do. Have found this kit on e-bay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123 Thought it sounded cheap,so asked what quality was like, says it is manufactured by 'Topran', arn't they supposed to be OK? Is this a bargain? he seems to have sold quite a lot. thoughts please. Thanks. Vince.

  9. Hi. just wanted to check that everything is ok with my order of four stickers as the list still only says that I have been PM'd,but have had PM in confirmation of payment. Thanks.
  10. Hi. If possible ,I would like four stickers Thanks.
  11. Hi .Sorry to jump on this thread a bit , but seeing as the 'Kw variant' coilies seem the best to have ,does anybody have any experience with there strut and spring set-up? perhaps this is another option as I was wondering about these for my VR. Thanks.
  12. Hi, mate. couldn't help noticing when looking at your pics, that they were taken in John Cranes carpark? I left there in June last year after 14 years, and parking my three corrados in the same place over the years.Do you work there now? do tell! I'll keep a look out for you as I still frequent that area visiting family.
  13. Hi. all . interested in this conversation and was wondering if anyone knew anything about the KW spring and shock set-up,is it any good ? Seeing as the variant coilovers seem to be the best out there, is there other stuff as good? Did coilovers on my 16v, but wanted a slightly easier option on my vr6. thanks.
  14. Hi. been looking for something like this, did you get it? did it woork? thanks.
  15. Hi. has anybody got one of these fitted to there VR ?, got hold of one cheap and wondered if it was worth fitting and what a good set up looked like,If anybody has any pictures to upload? Thanks.
  16. Hi. everyone. I am in the process of upgrading the audio in my VR,and was wondering if anyone had any views/experience of mid range components , in the standard door pockets that are good with Heavy rock/ Metal, I guess theres other Corrado owners that like this sort of music  I have trawled through most of the recommendations on here and on line ,but cant really find anything that separates genres like they would in a hi-fi magazine.Perhaps that could be an idea for another thread on here? I have had 'Infinity' reference's in my 16v, running from an Alpine head for five or six years and am quite happy with these, so would get again. But was just wondering if there were any other options for my musical taste!! Was thinking of running from a Pioneer head this time, coz like the new styling. So are there any one make options that are good? Sorry, think I've been reading to many hi-fi mags :) Thanks for any views. Vince.
  17. Hi.all.Was thinking of trying these out. Has anyone got them or thrown them out coz there rubbish? Are they worth the extra money? do they need resistors or are they built in? can the led's be replaced if they go? Do you have to do the whole re-wiring thing for the bulb holder? Thanks for any info. Vince.
  18. Ended up with an early on my late when it was rear ended a few years ago,was gonna complain but decided I was just glad to get the car back, repaired nicely on the other persons insurance.Shouldn't think the body shop did anything other than bolt the replacement on. Vince.(purplebaghera)
  19. Thanks for input. Afraid I bottled it and sent for one from GSF, should've done that in the first place :cuckoo: .But did get OEM VR6 header tank fro Euro. :D Vince.
  20. Hi. all. Ordered a new heater matrix from euro car parts which came today,on website said it was gonna be a Hella one,but has turned out to be manufactured by a German company called EIS. Euro seem to deal in alot of there stuff to do with heating and cooling.I had never heard of them, has anybody had any experiance of there stuff is it any good? It is German,so can't be that bad. Perhaps its fine and its just me being a little bit panicky it will go in no time, don't want to do the matrix twice if I can help it :) Any info would be good. Thanks in advance. Vince.
  21. This is great! thanks, still waiting to pluck up enough courage to do mine before the winter, but do have the added problem of aircon!!!!!
  22. Thanks again for all the info! I guess my next move is to get the matrix and wait for some sunny weather  I'll let you know how i got on,and keep an eye out for ya if i'm up your way. take care. Vince. (Purplebaghera)
  23. Thankyou very much.' markrtw' That was kinda what i was wanting to hear as regards whether I had to do the 'full dash out' job or not (can't say I'm looking forward to that),and that I need the golf matrix. Do all mk3 golf use the same matrix or do I have to get a proper aircon one? I kinda feel confident enough to have a go :) Did your friends aircon need anythimg else doing to it after the matrix change for it to work again? Where abouts in Bucks are you, might bump into or have already bumped into you at some point. I am near Great Missenden and have an Ice grey violet vr6 and a blackberry 16v. Best regards.' Purplebaghera'.
  24. Thanks Fla. I'll piece all this together eventually :D Someone out there must have done this? or know of a thread that details it. thanks in anticipation. Purplebaghera.
  25. Hi. Bruno. Thanks for reply, just to clarify, are you saying that the matrix is different from standard non aircon? or only possibly , as I think you are saying that when yours went it was a standard one? should I go for the golf one? Where is the internal temp probe and how do I know if its in the wrong place? So if the matrix fails does the aircon dump all its gas? Can any of these questions be answered if I print out the Diavia Aircon thread/ Sorry to bombard you with all this, don't know too much about aircon yet,but I am an engineer so cant be to difficult? Cheers Purplebaghera.
