do you think its causing lambda to read wrong first test showed co to high second test throws lambda out

help failed first on co got that right took it back for retest its failed on lamda which is a new one got any ideas anyone

1992 16v 9a engine co reading 1.0 should be .3 how do you adjust on a 9a engine any help please

just a point the 88/91 passat had the 9a setup the same as ours i managed to find a second hand one for that easier than a raddo one good luck

just a thought have you tried unplugging the lambda sensor at the rear mount and see if it fires had a similer prob thinking ignition was to blame if sensor is gone ecu will not allow car to start just a thought as trying costs nothing

it was doing the same with old dizzy only changed it due to oil leak had it replaced cos it was only 5mths old, new cap and rotor as well re the isv i suppose theres no way of bypassing this ?

2.016v cat blew changed cat and system changed lambada (new dizzy old leaking) just before cat went car kept missing felt electrical not fuel put it back together car runs for 5 min then cuts out keep turning it over pops and bangs but wont fire can hear fuel pump, plugs wet with fuel, put spare plug in lead no spark ,tried coil lead same leave it for a couple hours same 5 min running then stops anyone got a first step idea

an update fitted new dizzy still the same checked first exhaust box from cat blocked solid hmmm rang milltek to order box lo and behold its a common problem as c has a ceramic cat great oh the joys of owning a corrado

the other night driving home c kept cutting out then cut out completely looked in mirror bits of red hot cat coming out of exhaust now put new cat on and o2 sensor car started for 5 min then cut out chargrd batt today started then cut out checked plugs all wet with fuel no spark took dizzy cap of oil in cap this was an exchange dizzy in july do cats just go like that or is the dizzy to blame ie fuel into cat thats not been burnt scan says no faults any ideas

it shouldnt have anything to do with knocking the knock sensors bolted to the block deal with that providing their ok and torqued right but it should effect the tick over as the sensor is connected to the isv

try disconnecting lambda sensor plug if it starts with this not connected its the sensor thats what mine was

just a note to all 9a 16valvers be carefull with the diameter leads you buyanything over standard and youve trouble threading lead through sensor nobody tells you till its to late even 8mm is trouble gsf do a good set for £50 with new carrier and all and the ends unscrew hope this helps

theres a black plastic cover on top of gearbox 2 ten ml bolts hold it on if you undo it take it of theres a metal tube bolted to the selector check to see if its come loose usually the problem good luck
