  1. Hi, I need to check that they will fit the 9a engine, I assume the ones you have are from a 2e correct?
  2. Hi, Do you have the 2 v belt pulleys that fit to the crank please? and are you willing to sell them? Many Thanks Richard
  3. Hi, Are these still available please, and how much? Many Thanks
  4. A big thank you to SuperCharged it was the ignitions switch. I've changed 3 of these on golfs before, but when these have always caused the car not to turn over, never to turn over but with no spark! PS a new swith from the dealers was £18 not too bad when a pirate copy was £11.50. Thanks again
  5. Hi Guys, strange fault this one. When cranked there is no spark, but if I remove the distribitor and turn it by hand there is a good fat spark and the injectors fire etc. Put dibby back in and try starting and there is no spark! I took the dibby out to try and prove the ecu, dibby etc. Any Ideas please? what does the factory immobiliser doe? Thanks

    Oil Light flashing!

Yep Oil level OK, was a bit low though
  8. My Oil light is flashing! (2.0L 16v 9A). Have checked the two switches on the oil filter housing, and both are closing. Fitted oil gauge and it show 80psi. but not sure if gauge is correct. So I'm sure I have oil pressuer, but light is still on. Are there any other oil pressure swithes? Is the switch with the square connector, on the head, by the water flange, oil pressure or oil temp?
  9. Thanks for all the advice guys. Looking format to hearing form davidwort when you have completed your scanning. Thanks again
  10. I dont think that the 9a engine was fitted to the Golf/Vento so this manual wont cover the engine that I have, Thanks anyway
  11. Can any tell me which Haynes manual covers the 9A? Phoned Haynes and they say they don't do any manual that covers the 9A, but I know that peoplehere have mentioned the passat manual, I'n just not sure which one. Many Thanks
  12. Phil, Any chance of a copy of the scan on how to set the mixture please? Many Thanks
  13. Thanks for the reply, I will give v409 a try set the baud rate ,as I dont think I did this therefore would have been set to the default 0. If it still a problem, I will get a new cable. V3 did see the ABS controller tho!
  14. Thanks for the replies guys. Nice to know it should work! Where, apart from RossTech, is the best place to get a cable, preferable USB?
  15. Hi, is this a 9A? Are you sure that the in tank pump is OK. Had a problem with with the one on my son's 2.0 16v 9a. I filled the main pump by pouring petrol down the inlet pipe, car started and ran fine and pump was silent. New pump was £24 from the dealers which was cheaper than Euro GSF etc and breakers!
  16. Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has been able to use VAG-COM with a 9A engine? I've tried and mine (v3) it only finds the ABS controller. RossTech say it should work and the problem may be with my third party cable, but I'm sure I read in the VAG-COM sticky that it is limitted with the 9A engine. If you have used it or tried and fail please let me know before I buy another cable. Many Thanks
  17. Which pump did they change? Check the in tank pump. Remove the cover in the boot and the output pipe, crank engine, and is fuel pumped out? If no then try pouring petrol down the pipe to fill the main pump. Will she then start and run? Had this with my son's , still don't know why it would start then die!
  18. Crasher, I have the shareware (UNREGISTERED) version of VAG-COM do you know if this version will let me put the engine in Basic Adjustment mode?, or have you got the full version?, It makes sense that you don't want the ECU adjusting things that you are trying to set! Thanks for the info.
  19. Thanks once again Phil. I will check it at the weekend, wilalso check the value timing as I'm thinking if that is a tooth out it will have also timing on a 16V.
  20. Thanks Phill, I presume I should get a Passat 20 16v manual as that used the same engine i believe. I ask because the digifant needed the temp sender disconected and the rocker cover breather disconected and pluged etc. The car is a Flash Red December 1995 2.0 16v. Just bought it for my son to replace his MK2 GTi. It seems to be timed wrong very retared, and mpg is about 28, which seams poor compaired to a golf. It's standard except for 17" rims. We will be lowering it a and adding some rear crystal lights. We want to keep it fairly standard as these cars are clasics
  21. Thanks for the info and the welcome Phil. Is the 6 deg BTDC at idle or at 2500 rpm as with a digifant?
  22. Hi, Can anyone please advise me on the correct proceedure (which leads/pipes need removing and at what rpm is the timing checed), new to the 9a engine, but very experienced. Many Thanks for any help.
