  1. Is there such thing as an intermediate shaft bearing? The guy at VW reckoned he couldn't find one one ETKA. Anyone have a part no? I got all my other bearings just need this one then i can start rebuilding 8)
  2. OK maybe I will just bite the bullet and go to VW as this is a turbo block i'm building 8)
  3. I am currently doing a rebuild of a 1.8 KR 16v engine to go back into my Corrado. I want to replace the main, big eng bearings and the intermediate shaft bearings. I can't seem to find the parts on GSF under the Corrado car type. I was wondering does anybody know where I can get these parts from? As I think the stealers is going to be quite pricey for what it is. If anyone has part numbers from where they got them from that would be helpful to.
  4. I'm rebuilind a 16v block and I want some uprated valve springs. Where is the best place to get them. Preferably in the UK.

  8. Had a go at removing the head tonight but i couldn't even get the heat shield and exhaust manifold to down pipe bolts undone. Bloody annoying!
  9. Right i'll pull the head off tomorrow night and have a look and see. I'll keep you posted.
  10. My 2.0l 16v has been making a quiet rattle for a while and I am currently building up a new engine to go in. The other day I was driving home from work and all of a sudden i lost all my power and the engine started smoking when i tried to accelerate and started making a horribly loud tapping noise. I manage to get my car home. I thought maybe that my cambelt had slipped or something like that. So i took all the gubbins off the top and aligned the engine to TDC and that cams are fine. I took advice on my engine rattle and was told that it is probably main bearings (hence the engine rebuild). Although now i'm suspecting otherwise. I am thinking it possibly be a piston ring due to the loss of power. Any other ideas? oh yeah by the way no.1 spark plug looked like it was oily. I don't think it would be a head gasket failure either because that wouldn't explain the noise. I don't know whether this is going to be easily fixable or I should get another daily driver while i fix this up properly. Any help/advice is kindly appreciated.

  12. Yeah i would love to do that but the engine in question is on a pallet in my garage. Can't believe how tight that bolt is though.
  13. Wow, that bolt is difficult to undo. Its not a reverse threaded bolt is it? Just want to check. I'm struggling to undo it and i'm already using a flipping huge breaker bar. Maybe i just need to put a bit more weight and muscle into it?
  14. Can anyone confirm whether the RHD and LHD 16v downpipes are different? If not, are they the same as the Golf ones? I need to know this because I would like to order a MK2-mk3 turbo downpipe from Bahn Brenner. Cheers in advance.
  15. Is it possible to find out the engine code from the engine number?
  16. I'm just trying to work out which is going to be the best. The 16v's have a certain amount of spark control don't they? can this be controlled from the MS ECU using the hall sensor?
  17. I'm currently rebuilding a 16v engine, and possibly planning on putting a turbo on it. I to am going down the MS route. Can I ask how your planning on driving the ignition? Its the one part of Megasquirt I don't know quite what to do!
  18. What a shame, this is one of the threads I have been keeping a very close eye on. I think I speak for everyone when I say we'll be sad to see it go, especially after the work you have put in!

I'm currently re-building a 16v lump and was planning to go megasquirt anyway so half of me is telling me to bung a turbo on it and the other half of me is telling me grow up and be sensible :), Anyway the reason i'm posting is that I have read around online that some turbochargers are really only for off road use due to the emissions problems they cause. Is this going to be a problem with the above items. What difference does adding a turbo charger make to MOT over here anyway? Cheers in advance.

  23. I'm looking for a 16v throttle which has a TPS for a megasquirt project. Does the audi 80 throttle have a TPS and would it fit? Cheers in advance peeps.
