  1. I haven't tried reving it on drive way as 4000rpm is quite noisy on a quiet street. I'll try it on the way home from work tonight and see if it does it. I'm wondering whether its my big end bearings or something like that, or if its more likely to be just the tappets getting more noisy at certain revs due to resonance or something. The power hasn't been effect at all, the engine still pulls like it always has.
  2. I did an oil change last weekend. Its hard to hear where its coming from, i can't hear it at idle, its only there when i'm driving. I have wound down the window but i can't really tell where its from. This morning it seemed like the noise only really appeared once the car was warmed up!
  3. I'm getting a ticking noise from around 3.5k to 4.5k rpm on acceleration. Its been there for a while but its getting louder. I first noticed it when i installed a KR cam, but this might be entirely unrelated. Any ideas?
  4. I really like that steering wheel, I'm looking for something like that. Is that with a snap off kit aswell?
  5. I recently lost my key and i tried everything, i tried beating a socket on it, i tried a locking nut remover on some air tools at a local garage but the thing wouldn't shift. I ended up paying a local back street garage £30 to remove it. All the guy did was put and old knackered locking key on the end of an extension bar and wacked it on with a lump hammer, the wheel bolt came straight off!
  6. Might give it a go once I have got my fueling sorted. My car will only start if i have it set stupidly rich, but then its running around 10% CO. Something dodgy going on. I'm gonna have a go at putting that other meterhead you sent me and see if its any better.
  7. Really? Won't this break my car??? Doesn't KE have a fuel cut off at a certain revs?
  8. Thanks for you input peeps. I re-did the cams yesterday and fired it up and it sounded like it was running on 3 but after about 1 minute and sounded like normal and has been running fine since. I didnt manage to drive it until today but i took it out for a bit of a blast to see how it performed and all i can say is that it was a nice improvement. I definately pulls smoother around 5500-6500 rpm. Not sure how much quicker it is but its definately nicer to drive. No real loss of low end i don't reckon which is nice.
  9. Popped in a KR cam into my 2.0l 16v today. Managed to get it started but idles really slow (needle shows below 500rpm) and has trouble staying running. I drove it up the road just to turn it around and it almost felt like there was nothing until around 2000rpm then it just went really smooth. But still sounds lump as hell when idling. Does this sound like a symptom of the cams being a tooth out? The marks on the cam where level with each other but where just a little higher then the side of the head. Need some comments please from anyone who did the KR cam mod themselves. I gotta go work on monday!
  10. I guess they would be the same, just thought i'd get some new bolts incase i snapped any, because I bet you any money they are seized! :) Thanks anyway, its what i love about this forum, just one big fountain of corrado knowledge!
  11. As i don't have access to ETKA would some one be able to tell me the part numbers for all the bolts needed to fit g60 brakes to a 16v. pretty please:)?
  12. I have some G60 calipers to fit to my 16v. If I just got some braided hoses that are for the G60 would they do?
  13. Just a quick one... I would like to fit some G60 calipers to my 16v. Can I use VR6 carriers or does it have to be G60 ones? i.e are they the same? Cheers
  14. I found the car http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47936&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75 it has a mod to the boot, this was the car i was thinking of. But looking now i don't think its the one
  15. Somebody on this forum has a MKIV golf with a Bora tail lights (i think). Its a green car. Have a look around on the forum you might be able to find it.
  16. When I had my MOT done at christmas and my car is a K reg. There was no pre cat/ after cat test. There for they didn't test my cat. Surely this means I don't need one!
  17. Oh yeah, in response to gazzaG60, the plugs were showing the mixture was a little rich (according to the photos on that page in the haynes manual). I forgot to take a picture, but they didn't look white which is what i would expect for a lean mixture. I'm just hoping its the ignition timing.
  18. Right peeps, i checked the timing of the cams at TDC and they were aligned so i read about the timing being too far retarded would mess things up. I wanted to do the ignition timing properly but i couldn't find the 6 degree mark. I found the TDC one but thats it. So i advanced the dizzy by ear and its running better and maybe a bit cooler, but i might have to advance it further. What does the 6 degrees BTDC mark look like? Thanks for all your input btw.
  19. Its a 16v mate. I'm just wondering whether its been doing it for months but i haven't just noticed? you can only see the glowing at night you see (don't spend much time under the bonnet in the dark :)). I'm gonna pull the rocker cover off tomorrow and check the cams are aligned and check the belt timing.
  20. After i had the cam belt done the car ran fine. If its running lean the fuel consumpton wouldn't go up would it? is it possible one of the injectors isn't spraying much and running either the of the two middle cylinders lean? or is it more likely to be timing? Oh yeah, another thing engine is running same temp as i have always had, around 108 for oil and 90ish for water.
  21. My fuel consumpton on my current tank went down very quickly around 80miles per tank less than normal. So i happened to have a look under the bonnet cos i thought maybe i had a fuel leak. I noticed my exhaust manifold was glowing, not really really bright, almost like after you have had a bbq and you have hot coals. Its not the whole manifold just a small part where the gases from the two central cylinders exits. Any ideas what this could be? I had my timing belt redone around 3 months ago. The weird thing is once the car is upto temp it runs fine. So i'm very confused!
  22. Fitted my shift light last night. Its an excellent piece of kit, very well made, and like everyone says above, its very easy to set the lower and upper bounds and the little black box does the rest!
  23. No I haven't because I replaced my temp sender about 2 months ago so it should be fine. Where can i get this harness and how much is it? and how do i put the ECU in adjustment mode?
  24. Having failed my MOT for emissions I have replaced my lambda. I then put my car on my gas tester and it was showing CO of around 12%. So i set my CO reading to 2% (after having removed the re-breather pipe) using the 3mm screw on the metering head. The car was running like a dream, smooth running, better mpg, the works. I was well chuffed with myself. Until the next morning when i tried to start my motor. It starts up straight away, but instantly dies, i can't catch it on the throttle either. I can only fix it by setting the CO high again. Its almost like on my old Mini when i didn't have the choke pulled right out. So i thought it was probably my cold start valve not working. But thats firing, with a nice even spray pattern. So i'm wondering what it could be? I have looked for vac leaks and can't see any. Wondering about my ISV? should it buzz when the ignition is on but not running. Because mine is only buzzing when the engine is running. Just wondered if this could be an issue? Any ideas anyone? please don't just say "use the search" because i think i might have possibly read every 2.0l 16v cold start, ISV thread there is. its bugging me, every time i get closer to fixing one problem something gets in my way.
  25. How easy is it to fit? I'm always scared to touch electrics :). Sounds awesome though, i'm interested but won't have any funds till after xmas I take it they will still be available then?
