Right well I have sent a reply to the guy. I have told him that i don't think i should pay for the postage of the item back to him. We'll see what he says to that!
-
Yeah i could send it back but i had it delivered on a pallet and it was pretty pricey it would cost me loads to send it back again. I'm thinking maybe i could fit the 1.8 then rebuild the 2.0l as a project. If thats possible?

I just bought an engine to replace my current 2.0 16v engine.(that engine is pretty knackered now.) The engine arrived this morning and it happens to be a 1.8 lump instead of a 2.0l lump. Which is very annoying to be honest. Is it possible to put the 1.8 engine in with the 9a fueling system. Because i will need that for the emissions tests and what have you.

I recently rang mr local dealership (Northampton) to get some of these and they said they dont do them seperate. If they do it might be worth putting the part number on here for future reference.
-
Did you not notice it was a tooth out before? I thought when a 9a was a tooth out the engine ran like a complete dog?
-
I have been looking for a 9a engine that i could rebuild and get really nice to put in my car and I have found it quite hard. They always seem to get snapped up for quite a lot of cash from someone wanting to put it in a golf. So if you ever get another 9a engine and want to sell me yours cheap let me know! I don't mind if it needs a rebuild as long as its not completely shagged!

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about the position of the engine mounts and drive shaft lengths, I think these will probably be the main issues.

I know a lot of people don't think a diesel in a corrado is a good idea. But could it be done with a MK5 engine and gearbox?
-
Looks pretty smart mate, keep us updated as you do the mods, we all love to see how peoples rados come along!

I just work up there helping out for a bit of extra cash. I mostly just help move things about and stuff like that. Its good though because I get to see some cool cars and meet some interesting people. Anyways, the cams are fairly easy to time up. Get the engine at TDC by looking at the flywheel by removing the black rubber bung. When the engine is at TDC there should be a little mark that lines up on the fly wheel. The remove the inlet manifold and and gubbins. Then remove the cam cover. If you look on the cams (chain end) there should be a circle on each cam sprocket. These circles must both line up with the top of the cylinder head and must both be facing each other. If thats is right and the engine is still at TDC then you have a problem somewhere else.

So does anybody have any spare they could send me?
-
VW reckon that this part is not listed as a seperate part and there for can't be ordered.(unless I buy a brand new head). Does anyone know what length and size they are so i can get one fabricated?
-
I'm pretty sure, when I put the KR cams in i lined up the engine to TDC using the mark on the fly wheel. But it could be out i suppose.

Ok will do. I have an old pm with you mob number in. But i'll let you know a night. But it will probably be wednesday.

I'm busy working the british GP this weekend, I could pop over 1 night next week or leave it till the following weekend. Its driving my nuts at the moment I just wish i had some time to actually just do an engine re-build!

Right I left this noise alone for the last month as I have been off work with a dislocate shoulder so i haven't been able to work on the car. Anyway, this noise has got worse now. Its louder and does it when you rev the car stationary and out of gear. Can't pin point where abouts in the engine it is because the engine gets too loud to know for sure, but i'm pretty sure its louder when your head is near the drivers side front wheel arch!
-
Can you describe the sound? I have had a rattle for a while when warm on my car to.
-
Thats exactly how I read it! I was expecting to hear some sad story or something like that. I agree, re-word the thread title!

I never bothered to do anything with the black trim when i polish my car, but i decided that I would this time round. I used that Mer stuff and all i can say is i forgot how great it works.

collant temperatures and fans - sorted now I think!!
jslootweg replied to smudge's topic in Engine Bay
The thermostat as far as i know is what opens up the radiator so the water starts flowing through and starts receiving its cooling effects. A lower temp thermostat (if my understanding is correct) will open up the water to the radiator, meaning the engine would just take longer to reach temperature (probably not a good thing). Anyway, the temperatures you mention don't make think there is anything especially wrong. They seem quite normal for most engines. -
If i wanted to fit KR injectors (cheap merc ones) to my 9a corrado where would i get replacement injector lines that would fit my current metering head and the merc injectors. Cheers in advance.

That paint job is looking pretty darn sweet. I wish I could get a re-spray so badly! Look forward to seeing how this car progresses!
-
Sweet! I was a bit worried they wouldn't fit as I have estorils on my car. I love the estorils, they are proper old skool and I didn't really want to change them.

I have a G60 setup that has been sitting in a box for ages. With a 280mm disc with g60 calipers on fit behind 15"s or would I have to get larger wheels?
-
Might just stick with the 16v one, it sounds too much of a faff. Cheers for your responses though peeps.
