  3. just driven my car home from work this afternoon to which my temp gauge went sky high then smoke started comin from the exhaust i mean clouds of smoke, then water light came on this was at 5.00pm just got in now at 9.45 after waiting 2hrs for a recovery truck to find me and take me to my local garage, i lost all my coolant throgh my exhaust or that was where it looked like it was comin from between the joint of the manifold to the exhaust, any ideas what it might be? i wont find out till some when next week when he gets a chance to look at it. just as well im workin away next week and i wouldnt have been able to drive the C anyway. :( :(

  6. Hi again I went to pick up my C this evening after work only to find after by passing the heater matrix a couple of weeks ago that i have lost coolant and there were three damp patches on the concrete where it was parked so i believe that it surely cant be the heater matrix at fault or it was to begin with now something else has gone wrong. i have been losing coolant on and off since i by-passed the heater matrix but i just topped it up again as over xmas i wanted to drive my c rather than my transit so i just topped it up and kept an eye on it but this evening i checked the level before starting and it was well below the min level. just really wondering as to what this could mean i am thinking of re connecting the heater matrix using it over the weekend then taking it to a garage asap but it would be good if i could point them in the right direction to keep cost down on a garage bill!!! so any advice, hints, help and general knowledge would be most appriciated at this point and Thanks in advance
  7. i have been to work on the C this evening i have managed to by-pass the heater matrix and i have run the engine up to temperature so far no mist etc. i will use the C for a couple of days just to see what happends however if it turns out to be the matrix which is looking mor than likely at the moment how much does one cost if i were to go with a VW matrix not an after market one and wheres best to buy from (websites please) just like to say thanks for everybodys posts and Merry christmas.
  8. if it is a problem with the heater matrix is it possible that it may just be a hose come off! if so does anyone know anyone that has taken one out or fitted one as to where the possible leak points are or where the hoses are ie: where to look and what to remove to be able to see where they are!!!! I think it has been narrowed down to be a problem with the heater matrix some where along the line i have mangaed to collect some of the water and its a dirty or rusty colour it doesnt smell of antifreeze but there is a faint smell of something. also where the blower motor is located just under the glovebox is there any reason as to why there would be water dripping ie: any hoseds or containers etc that i should check i might be repeating myself but if i can avoid a garage bill for something very simple i would be extremely pleased especially this close to xmas again thanks in advance Greg
  9. just in case this helps the blower has now stopped working!! this could because its shorted itself due to its sobbing wet or its the route of the problem, the damp does smell somtimes smell like anti freeze and is sticky also what does this mean????
  10. Hi all I was driving my C this morning when i noticed that all my windows were misted up and the windscreen was beyond a joke i could barely see!! I pulled over and i had read somewhere that if you have damp carpets etc then this can be the reason why! I felt around the passengers foot well and the vents for the foot heater were wet so i removed the shelf below the glovebox and there is a round thing (great description) on the left which ocasionally drips. It rained last night so i dont know if that was the reason or if its the heater as the heater still works and gives out plenty of hot air but at times you could see the mist forming. i have checked around the ecu and there doesnt seem to be much debrie, my C always misted up in the past but normally the heater clears it away however this time it just wouldnt touch it if you have any suggestions please pass them on. i have done a search but i got conflicting opinions as if the the heater is still working then it not the matrix but others said that even if the heater is still working it could still be the matrix please help and thanks in advance Greg :(
  11. Boyd all the way for me, Chip can draw no doubt bout that and has excellent vision but the finish on boyds hot rods and the attention to detail is just superb, plus all the fun and games along the way are worth watching. As for American chopper do you think they know how to close a door without slamming it!!!
  12. i had a bloke walk by whilst i was cleaning the C and said that it was a funny shaped polo dumb or what the weirdest thing is that he even owns a vw polo???

Hi all Bought my first C bout 2 weeks ago and i love it its superb the best car i have ever driven!!! however i feel that the alloys let it down, i dont know much about wheels etc but i feel that a bigger wheel would look better can anyone advise me on which wheel would look good on my red corrado 16v on standard height pics would be good and places to buy or even talk to for advice thanks in advance Greg :?:
  15. Hi i asked a while ago about my drivers side wing mirror that had stopped working from left to right but still goes up and down i know that the motor for both operations are working as i can still hear it i have removed the mirror using a ruler (good tip!!) and i can understand how the up and down movement works by the use of a white notched arm that gets pulled in or pushed out to make the up and down movement of the mirror but i cant see how the motor reaches the mirror to make it go left or right so i have decided to post a picture as an attachment to see if any of you can tell me if there is anything missing as i would guess another notched arm must run through the center of the back of the mirror and be driven by the motor is this correct that it has snapped and fallen out. any clues much appriciated also if this is so can any of you tell me where i could get a replacemnt good places to buy from etc for these sorts of parts. thanks in advance Greg

  17. hi all i have finally got my hands on my first corrado and when driving it home i managed to break the drivers side wing mirror as now the motor works as you can still hear it working but the mirror itself does no longer move left or right but it will go up and down, has it just come off of a runner or is it completely broke wot should i do. any info much appriciated Greg 8) hi all
  18. hi again i have taken all of your opinions into account and thanks for taking the time to respond, however i have decided to walk away from this one and i have found another corrado 2.0 16v all origional everything works and yet it is less yes!! however i am now looking for insurance 1 am getting quotes from all over the place and the cheapest so far is about £1300 FC or £1082 TPFT i am 20 with 2yrs NCB and yet i have done a search and i see that quite a few of you are the same age some with less NCB and yet you all have cheaper quotes HOW CAN THIS BE!! i have just rung elephant and they fogged me off by saying that they are just not competitive for me as they are for other people favourtism or what!! So if anyone has any ideas have tried adding a parent and all the other ideas suggested in other threads under the search (i have read them all) any ideas £1082 i thought was pretty good from past quotes for other vehicles but when i read of other people getting quotes a lot less i start to wonder wether yr lying to the companies or you have some tricks please pass them on Thanks in advance Greg
  19. Hi there i am new to this forum so hi everyone I am after your opinions on a corrado that i went to view yesturday. There were just a few niggly things but firstly i will give you some infor on the car firstly: -red -138000 but a new engine was fitted at 78000 miles -Taxed and MOT'd -paintwork is good for year however slightly faded at the rear -plently of service history now one of the niggly things that bothers me a bit is that the rear active spoiler doe not work but however by the manual switch it does it just doesn't operate via speed is this an expensive problem also the most worrying is that as mentioned above it has had a new engine put in that came out of a golf however ther is no certificate for this work but the owner does have a letterhead with the companys name on and a list of the work carried out such as new gearbox, clutch, all belts with no cracks or splits which indicates that at sometime they were changed head reskimmed and new head gasket. Is the owner not having a certificate for the work carried out a reason to walk away or should it not worry me. the engine seems as sound as a pound (2.0ltr also been bored out) clean and tidy no noises no bad smoke either when warm or cold plenty of recpiets for everything else. so i am just really wondering what your opnions were on this matter. also what are the points to look out for when buying a corrado ie: rust areas etc. I also forgot to mention that it is a 1990 (G) and up for £1750 hope you can help and thanks in advance
