I've got sort of the same issue. Mine wont go down now even on manual?. Where are the connectors?
-
Good Point...lol my exhaust hasnt fallen off yet and i'm assuming the rattle from the engine means that bit is still attached too..lol!!!
-
esp watch out for the heater switch..they are notorious for not working!!!..as the rest of the forum posts will verify..otherwise buy one the vr6 is a gem.

Well..its now the end of November...i reported the faulty heater controls at the beginning of September..when the ignition switch failed and the heater matrix collapsed within a week of ownership I left it with them for 2 weeks at the end of october..to replace the head gasket and fix the heater its been off the road for 9 weeks out of the 12 ive owned for one reason after another.(fan doesnt work at all now so the screen wont de-mist) And ive now waited over 2 weeks for a replacement heater resistor to be posted to me...hopefully i'll have it by the end of this week? Still remaining calm..but deffo not a good introduction to Corrado ownership!! Got the resistor, fitted it... it didnt fix the problem so booked it into a local vw spec in Melksham..on the way the bleedin' wipers (front and back) packed up too!! Anyone wanna swap!!!
-
Well enough is enough..ive fitted the new heater resistor pack but that hasnt solved the problem and now the bloody wipers arent working either!!!!! So ive given it to a local vw specialist to sort it once and for all rather than trek back and forth up north again!!..teed off now!!

judging by the amount of people with heater control problems on here (including myself) the twist ones arent much better either..unfortunatley

does anyone have any pics that show what the copper section behind the heater speed fan should look like?? Understand its supposed be contacting something but not sure what??...cheers want to have a go at this prob on saturday if i can.
-
Hey patronise away mate...lol The heater up until 7pm tonight only worked on level 4..now its packed up altogether and everyone ive spoken to says "aaah that'll be the resistor then"..10min job apparently!!! unless there are other suggestions?
-
will a resistor from a mk 4 golf fit it or are they unique to the corrado?
-
any ideas where i can get a new resistor for it..mines given up the ghost big time!!..
-
aahh...that would suggest still ample opportunity for an easy peasy 10min job to turn into a bloody infuriating 4 hour grind hurling abuse at the car if past experience is anything to go by!!...lol
-
cheers mate appreciate that..looks like even newbies like me can do this...i hope..lol
-
been told the reason i can only get the heater to owork on level 4 is the resistor??? has gone on the heater motor?..was told it was a simple job to do just involves removing the panel under the glove box..is that so and does anyone have a pic i can look at so i know what i'm supposely doing?...cheers

not really...just replaced it. Noticed this morning when standing the traffic lights the temp went up to about 100 but once i got moving at "normal" speeds the temp went right back down again.?? Oil went up to about 995ish then back down to 78-80 once moving...ODD!!
-
I presume it was leaking...the car was losing water out of the pressure vent at the back of the expansion tank. the garage down here did a test for combustion gases in the coolant and found some. The hoses were also rock under when the car was up to temp so as a result a new gasket was fitted under warranty.
-
Have just a new head gasket fitted amongst almost everything else connected with the cooling system. Picked the car up yesterday and on the way back home last night the temp guage never really got off the bottom needle? I checked the oil temp as well and that was showing 78deg the highest that got to was 92? Is that normal??..I know it was bloody cold last night and I had the heater on most of the journey (down from Storubridge to swindon) but should the in car temps have stayed that low or do I now probably have a thermostat problem? Fuel economy seemed to be down a bit too...prior to the change it was about 35 on a long journey but I struggled to hit 30 this time.
-
Well the gasket is done...and heater controls replaced..seems the fan speed prob is a faulty resistor on the heater motor itself still waiting for that tho..still we are getting there.
-
Car starts fine first time from cold but when its hot it takes a least half a dozen turns to get it to fire up again..any ideas?
-
Well the head gasket is now being replaced (explains the water loss) and hopefully the heater switches too (i cant de mist anything yet).. be nice to ba able to use the car ...lol At the moment i look at it as the car is in storage not at a garage being fixed again...that way i remain chilled. So cross fingers and Graham will have performed miracles!!
-
Cheers mate...do you have the VAG com kit there too? could make it a day out. Thanks
-
Would anyone recommend any particular specialist in the swindon/wilts area??
-
Really!!...That's a nice car. I looked at that one looked very nice..plumped for the leather interior in the end though. Perhaps i'd have been better going for your one..lol!!
-
Well as i said before...things go wrong but its how its dealt with that counts isnt it. :D So far Volkscars have been very good- As for patience wearing thin??..yes it will be good to have the car running properly as i paid £6.9k for it but at least it means i get to use the PUG gti which is great fun too believe me.. There's a boy racer in all of us i guess..

saga continues...had what look like an expansion tank leak last week. Had the local garage do a check and they have come back saying that the tank isnt split, its just the pressure vent at the back of it doing its job apparently..(shows how much I know!!) However they then went onto say it would appear that the head gasket may have gone instead!!! Seems the water was contaminated with combustion gases?? So just given Volkscars the good news.. see what happens now! 205 still going great by the way..lol and thats 21 years old
