VR6 Rad Fans dont come on until water temp is nearly 115deg?
David Winter replied to Andy Brookes's topic in Archive
I now think mine may be faulty after reading this. Mine stops if I switch the car off and does not come on with the ignition off. Ithought this was the reason for having the re circulation water pump. Also only has one fast speed. I take it this is not right.? -
Dragon green M reg VR6 on the M5 spur in Worcester being towed by the RAC! :( Also an L reg graphite VR6 on the M5 about 20 mins later. Unfortunately was in the wifes clio :D

I said to him was it resprayed and he had bought it mint from a VAG main dealer years ago and insisted it had not been. It was a 96 registered 16v that must have been in the last batch of cars built in 95.

Hi. I was talking to a Corrado enthusiast who was interested in buying my Storm recently and he told me he had owned a mystic blue 16v Corrado. I told him I thought it was a Storm only colour and he insisted that a very few late 16vs were mystic blue. He really seemed to know a lot about Corrados and said he used to know some one with a Storm and they were amazed when he parked his 16v next to it as it was indeed the same colour. Any one else heard this as the guy seemed quite genuine.

It looks like moonlight blue too me, which is my favourite Corrado colour. I had a moonlight blue 16v and it used to look fantastic. I now have a mystic blue Storm and even though I love it I still prefer moonlight blue  That G60 looks fantastic. :D

Late August Dave. Looking forwards to the Malvern indoor show next year.

Keeping the Corrado now. :D Also relocating from Dorset to Worcester so in your neck of the woods Dave Storm. We'll have to meet up for a jar.

The thermostat housing is not hard to replace. You dont need to remove the rad. Just take the coil pack off and go from there.

Nice mystic blue P plater Storm on Autotrader. Looks mint. In fact there is a picture of this car on ccgb website in Corrado Storm specifications. Very nice investment me thinks. 8)

The wife has been bleating at me to get a sensible car that I dont stress over when I use car parks etc + shes fed up with me going to the tip with rubbish in her car  I have actually put it up for sale on the ccgb site and had some interest. One guy is keen to veiw it this weekend. Heres the trouble. I dont want a boring car and was keen on the idea of a mk4 Golf gti Turbo. But you just see so many Golfs I really am having second thoughts. I could get a cheaper Corrado but am worried I would end up throwing money at it. Mine is running sweetly and I went on a long run in it last week with the aircon recently serviced. I have also recently serviced it, replaced the tensioner pulley auxillary collant pump and thermostat housing. Maybe I should get a divorce and keep the Storm :D

Sorry here is the photo

Here is a photo of the aircon and heater controls in my Storm which unfortunately I might not have much longer

I am curious about this. I have eibach springs fitted to my VR6 and one of the rears sits very slightly lower than the other. Could this be because the bump stops were trimmed unevenly? im not happy with it to the extent that I intend to pull the rear suspension off and do it myself and replace the top mount rubbers as these wernt done.

Phat VR6 wrote ..stictly speaking it is a mk3 scirocco.... True in a way. Alough the Corrado and Scirroco were both manufactured side by side for 3 or 4 years. The Corrados body shape is based on the mk1 Scirocco. Next time you look at the mk1 Scirocco you look at the overall shape especially the rear side window.

I find this thread slightly frustrating. These cars are 9- 15 years old and most are getting towards 100k and most will have been driven aggressively at some stage even if they are well cared for now. Each Corrado needs to be looked at individually. If the dash or windows rattle its not been put back together properly. They were not like that when they were built! My VR6 does not rattle and things like sunroof, spoiler etc all work properly because they have been greased etc. I had a rattleing window when I bought the car but carefully took the door card off fixed the faulty roller and its now as quite as it should be. A mate of mine had a VR some time back and it was a right rattleing shed because he didnt give a dam about it and it wasnt great when he bought it. So not to put off any new Corrado owners my point is go and try out several examples and the well cared for ones will speak for themselves.

Thought Id have a go at getting my Corrado up to a show standard. Ive had the wheels off and cleaned them , cleaned all the calipers and the engine bay. Im pleased with the results as the body is perfect whiich is why it cost me a lot when I bought it a couple of years back. Unfortunately the wife keeps nagging me to sell it and get a sensible car that I will take to carparks :D

VERY NICE 8) Moonlight blue is one of my favourite colours on the Corrado..

I saw this car on Autotrader. Sounds superb. Even thought about selling my Storm for this one! Im not surprised its been snapped up. Registered in october ''96 it is claimed to be the last Corrado registered. Well done 8) . A very good buy me thinks.

Nice pictures mate. Lovely views up there. :D

Hi. Ive have a water leak only when the system is hot and pressureised. Today I managed to find roughly where from after removing the coil pack. I assume this is a cracked water pump caseing? Is there a gasket that could have gone? I would guess it would need a new pump. Any one know how much they are? Thanks for any advice. Dave

Do not worry. My 2.0l 16v was the same. Spoliler only worked manually. I took it to TSR performance and they said a fault had been caused by someone fitting a stereo but re wired it properly by passing the fault in the speedo unit. Worked fine cost me an hours labour £70 but no parts were required so I was happy with that as I had no idea how to fix it my self. Dave

Search tips for Corrado VR6 or VR6 Highline
David Winter replied to EDWARD757's topic in General Car Chat
I think Autotek have stopped dealing in Corrados now. I bought my Storm from them 2 years ago and was told then that good examples are getting hard to find. They had a nice choise then though. 3 Storms,1 in green and 2 blue ones and a blackberry Vr and a silver Vr with aircon. Last couple of times Ive checked there site they havnt had a single one. I got 3 months warrenty with mine by the way. Dave -
Ive got a Storm with air con and mine once stopped working. All it turned out to be was a fuse. The fuse in question is the one located in the engine bay on the right side of the engine with Diavra written on it. I find it strange that some people dont like air con. Mine has been fantastic and is a life saver in the mid summer weather especially as I have a black interior. I used to have a dark blue Corrado 16v with no air con and got stuck in traffic on the M11 on a scorching day. A very unpleasant experience believe me! I dont even notice similar incidents with air con. Dave.

Cheers mate. It was good to meet you too. I drove slowly down the motorway hoping to hook up a convoy on the way back but guess you got held up. Ill try and catch up with you at one of the shows. Take it easy. Dave.

Thanks for your comments guys. All I have done is replaced the original equipment dampers top mounts and bump stops with new original equipment ones and combined this with Eibach 30mm drop lowering springs. The car is still practical to drive with no worries getting over speed humps etc. With the original 15in wheels the ride is still nice. There is no slaming down pot holes or any problems of that nature. It is obviously firmer than the original springs but feels more sporty. It is the only mod Ive have done and I dont intend to do anything else. Cheers. Dave.
