Jedi-knight82, some swissol, a few hours and it'll be right as rain again!!
-
Jedi-knight83, PM sent buddy.
-
Jedi-knight83, Most people on here (myself included) consider you to be THE daddy where vehicle detailing is concerned - so who's really gonna question what you do to a car??? p.s. would you travel to (sunny) Kings Lynn for a job?

I am wondering if a set of Boston Acoustic S50 5 1/4" speakers (advertised in 'parts for sale' on here) will fit in my early front door cards? The reason being is I have leather door cards and really don't want to cut them in case I sell the car in the future. Also, will my speaker grills fit to retain the OEM look? The mounting depth is 1-7/8". Any help gratefully received.

REALLY like what you've done! It's all these little touches that make your car look subtly individual whilst look OEM+ Nice one JMC! :thumbleft:

Jam1n, I have fitted K&N 57i kits to other makes of cars in the past and they usually result in the engine management light coming on, and don't pull at low revs so well! I have experimented more with a 2.5 V6 vauxhall engine and a panel filter with air box mods made 3bhp more than a K&N as well as looking and sounding better! Can't comment on the BMC CDA but have heard only good things, and since you already have an exhaust to help breathing, you're following the right track for better power!! Regarding the cat bypass, a more sensible option (IMO) is a high flow cat so you don't have to remove it each time Mr MOT man wants his £50!!! Hope you get the desired results, whichever you choose....
-
That sounds like moisture or water of some sort in the exhaust as burning oil is bluey, and petrol is black - you possibly have the better of the three???
-
Is it just me but do all C owners change their alloys like i change my pants?? Which, before anybody replies, is longer than 5 mins but less than 6 months!!! :gag:

Jam1n, If you want your car to sound like a helicopter (or a 1.0 saxo - even WORSE!) and soak up engine heat thus loosing power and not fit properly then go ahead, but if you prefer the OEM look, and power with longevity then stick with a decent panel filter and put on the best exhaust system you can afford for better breathing and a better sound when the noisy pedal is pressed! Hope this helps! :brillsmurf:

bighands, Sorry if this is obvious but do you notice if your crank case breather was blocked - causing a pool of oil to gather and creep back to the inlet?? After getting to the root of the problem, i'd definately get some Wynns or Redex to shove down the plug holes to clean her out!! Did she fail on emissions then....???

supercharged, You say golf ones work fine but are they from a mk 2 or 3? Or are they both the same and i'm a biff???

FERRY SECURE are the dogs if you need anything stereo/alarm related in East Anglia! They are located in Downham Market and have remained a small but capable company!! They won't sell you anything you don't need and will advise you on your requirements according to budget etc - they also do window tinting and are mobile if you need. And before you ask - no i don't work for them - just received good service and aftersales care should probs arise!! http://www.ferrysecure.co.uk 01366 388281

eatthis, yeah, i got one in my other car - the AVIC X1R and think its totally AWESOME!! Had twin screens fitted in the rear too, and as you can show both sat nav AND DVD on the front screen, its uber gucci, considering you mainly see these things fitted to range rover vogues, X5's etc!! Rekon it'll still be fairly cutting edge and worth a mint still in a few years too! :brillsmurf:

I'm in a bit of a muddle over what to choose with all the paint polishes and techniques out there at the moment! My car is already pretty shiny, through many layers of repeated auto glym super resin polish, applied/removed lovingly with AG perfect polishing cloths but still has tiny swirl marks and is frustrating as i want a 'glass' effect on my (metallic) paint!! The car is a sunday and high day car only so doesn't get covered in S#@*e! I don't need to clay bar (in my humble opinion) it as the paint is already smooth but i seem to be at a plateau and cannot get it 100% as i'd like! I have just got a machine polisher, with a 'waffle' head and some 3M machine glaze. Will this do the trick and do i need to wax over afterwards with the AG polish? Thanks in advance for any help/advice! Steve.

Sorry to hear there are some down right dishonest merchant bankers out there that have stung you!! Thanks anyway, Helen.
-
I don't supppose anybody has any photos to illustrate the fitment?? Helen.
-
Hi, if you've got any of those meguires cloths left, i'll take 8 off you for £25.00 if this sound reasonable??? I'm always needing cleaning stuff so can't miss an opportunity!! Many thanks, Helen

I have seen several corrado 16 valvers with a black plastic cover that sits on top of the standard air box, with four circles on it, that covers the fuel injection system. What i'm after is will this fit to my 1991 1.8 16v corrado :?: :?: They look sooo much better and far neater than seeing a mess of fuel lines emanating from on top of the air boxin my opinion :!: If this cover will fit, do i just need to screw on the cover, or is there more to it? Any help / advice / pictures greatly appreciated :!: Helen. ( L100PY_h )

You don't say if you have an early or late dash, but if they are the slider (early type) then a blown bulb is indeed a VW purchase part as you need the whole front, retailing at about £13.00 it's not the best but you could try a mk2 golf item, as these weigh in at about half the price - dealer pricing again gone mad!! As for the screeching, remove the passengar shelf under the glove box, grab the bottom of the fan (after unplugging it!!) and TWIST either anti cockwise or clockwise i can't remember, but it will come out easy enough, and then lube the bearings. Sparks when changing speeds could be a bare wire, so check all insulation including the speed switch. With regards no speed three, the speed switch usually works via a series of resistors, more resistors, slower revs. Blow one of these and you loose a speed. Maybe yours is knackered and a replacement will solve 2/4 of your niggles?? Good luck! L100PY_H :multi:

Progress.....but not good!! It's a dash out job in reality i think, as space is pretty tight to say the least!!! and you can see where the cables lead. Had a look today, and the slider type controls have two cables for selecting where the air goes. One sends air to the central vent, the other selects the screen channel. These are plastic sleeves with a moveable solid wire core that slides inside, pushing / pulling shut off doors to deflect the airflow if you get my meaning??? The plastic outer sheathes need to be secured by little metal clips (under the dash where theyre hard to get at) so if they come off, the whole assembly moves, and not the inner alone. 'SIMPLY' refitting these clips securely will solve the problem, or adding a ty wrap to help. So, if your selector knob is stiff to slide, this could well be your problem!! If anyone needs clarification / pictures on that little lot, please email me on mailto:[email protected] and i'll try to help.

Mmmm......seems as though a 'hands on' approach will be the way forward here!!! Will keep updated those waiting with baited breath....If i ever manage to fix it...!!!! :(

Seems a common problem on Corrados, dodgy heaters and all, but has anyone found a similar problem / solution to mine......in that the front screen blower works on all speed settings, but sliding the control knob across won't allow airflow to the front screen.....HELP! Any help / advice greatly appreciated! :(
