Cheers, will check that out, good to gather a list of possibilities, going to have a good look this weekend. Will clear the codes and try again. Thanks again Rich

Ok, scanned for errors (with one of those hand held fault code readers), came up with 17879 EVAP Emission Contr.LDP Circ Short to B+ . Anyone got any ideas what this means?, or is my (cheap) code reader spouting crap. Rich.

Hmm, where are the knock sensor wires?, Do think it is electrical, as it has been worked by a complete numpty at some point. Cheers for reply Rich.

Cheers Chris. Unfortunately it refuses to start at the moment, got up nice and early to go for a blast today, it fires up but dies immediately, have put a post on here asking for advice. Think it was you that pm'd me about the spoiler, it works occasionally, really need to trace where the blue and white wire goes now (been connected to some balck wire which disappears towards the fuse box), think I am going to have to throw in the towel and get an auto electrician to look at, the Head unit wiring is screwed as well, and I am struggling to sort it. Got a load of new bits to fit, just struggling for time, still very much a work in progress project. Good look with yours Rich

Cheers for reply, do you know number of ECU relay?, actually when the engind dies I can hear a relay clicking. Thanks Rich.

Hi, have got a 94 2.0 16v, recently I have struggled to start it, intermittent at first, but today it refuses to start. When the ignition is turned on I can hear the fuel pump prime, when I start the car it fires, the revs build to about 1500 and then it dies, you can hear the fuel pump whirr again. Is this likely to be the ignition switch??, reading threads on here it seems to be a common cause of starting issues (and back problems) or should I look at other things. The car has a Toad alarm/ immobiliser which seems to be operating ok. Any help appreciated. Rich

Thanks Neil. Rich

Hi, really love this thread, car is a million times better than when you got it, top work. Was wondering what you used to clean up and paint the radiation brackets and fan cowling, I am starting on the engine bay and really want to sort the cowling and brackets. Thanks in advance Rich.

I am always carefull when rinsing off any degreaser etc in engine bay- would advise caution if using a pressure washer, in my experience the most sensitive items tend to be alarm systems-always worth tie wrapping a bag around them, might be prudent to protect dizzy, and always give engine a good run afterwards to dry it off/check running ok. Rich.

Meguires degreaser really good, spray it on and agitate with a brush then rinse off, best stuff I have used. You dilute it so it lasts a good while. Also good for wheel arches etc. If you want something easier to get hold of (you would probably have to get Meguires off online supplier) Autoglym engine degreaser is ok. HTH Rich

Thanks for that, except it is purple. Rich

I would definately try charging the battery, once fully charged fit it to the car and see if the ABS light goes out. I was getting the "supply voltage" error message on mine, tried an ecu and replaced the relays, problem went away when I bought a new battery. If I leave mine stood for a week or so now the ABS light will stay on when I first start the car, I now leave it attached to a charger if I know I am not using it for a while. Think the ABS system must have a big draw on power when it first starts, so battery/charging system needs to be in really good condition. HTH Rich

Well it passed it's MOT this morning with just 1 advisary-the brake pipes have some surface corrosion- MOT tester advised me to clean them up and use some sort of rust prevention on them, will get some waxoyl of bilt hamber products and treat them. The car is still running a bit too hot for my liking, thinking about replacing the patten pump and stat with an OEM ones, and may look at replacing the Rad. Only other problem is the spoiler still does not activate at speed, it did work for a while when I replaced the stereo for an original one, however when I replaced a blown fuse (think it was 16- the one that is for the sunroof, cig lighter) it stopped working :cuckoo:, any ideas appreciated for that one. Have just bought a lot of screws, nuts and bolts to start smartenting up the engine bay, got some surface rust to sort on the front panel, and want to clean up the brake callipers which have 15 years of crap and corrosion on them. I will also give the car a good machine polish, and fit a few new bits of exterior trim, hope to have it all done in the next few months to enjoy in the summer and maybe use it a bit more this year, as I sat outside the MOT test place this morning I looked at last years MOT and realised I have only done 1003 miles in the C this year!! Still really love it, and hope never to sell it, do fancy a storm or a G60 though.......... Will post updates as I go. Rich

No help I'm afraid Jim, but mine does exactly the same, this was following a top end rebuild when I had the water pump and stat replaced (pattern parts), my next step will be OEM parts. Will let you know if I sort it. Rich

Would imagine it is 100k plus (usually are when mileage not mentioned), which I suppose is ok as long as it is reflected in price. Good time to buy at moment, definately worth haggling hard. Rich

TT1 orTT3 for me. TT2 will probably have high miles, I live near the dealer and a lot of their stuff is ex fleet with big miles. Rich.

My C does this, VAG com indicated it was a supply voltage fault, however since replacing the battery it seems to be ok (light is off). If the car is not used for several weeks the light comes back on, but disappears if I turn the car off and back on. I think (and could be wrong) that the light comes on if the battery is not fully charged (hence you use the car, switch off and on and the light goes out). I replaced relays and bought a spare ABS ecu to try and cure the fault before MOT, however if the battery is kept fully charged it seems to be ok for me. HTH Rich.

Hmmm, will check how much it was, missus bought it for me as a Christmas present from my little un, presumed it was £99 but will check. time will tell how good it is, but I have read some good comments about the kit on various forums. And it looks quite nice. :D Rich

Not sure if already mentioned.Bought one yesterday, currently half price. £99.99. Rich

Hi Jim, was wondering if you have got this sorted, following a top end rebuild mine does exactly the same with regard to water and oil temps. Sorry if covering old ground! Rich
-
4 Corrado's!!, I live in Sheffield and never see any!! Nice collection you have there, top work!! Rich

If it helps I got mine from GPC, can't recall how much they were-think the shock caused memory loss. Give them a ring, they advertise in all the dub mags, will dig out invoive if you want any more details. Rich.

Well, it's all back together and running well, car feels nice and tight and a bit more refined. Had a bit of a worry about oil temps (hitting 126 C) however setting the timing has reduced it down to around 116 (which I still think is a bit high), water temp is steady at around 90 when on the move. Think the thermotime switch may be foobared as fan only appears to work on lower speed. Needs a good clean to remove oily fingerprints, fit a few new rubber bits-then I will post some more pics. Loving driving it again 8) Rich.
