Have been collecting parts for ages, finally made a start on replacing some untidy bits in the engine bay. First up the headlight screws were rusted on! Corrado92.pdfrusted screw.JPG[/attachment:2k3o7uh7] So had to drill the little ******* out (what a nice job that was) passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfscrew out.JPG[/attachment:2k3o7uh7] Managed to get both lights out without breaking the tabs- which is always a bonus climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdflights out.JPG[/attachment:2k3o7uh7] All looks ok back there, with just a little surface rust, the same cannot be said of the fan housing :gag: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdffan housing.JPG[/attachment:2k3o7uh7] fan rust.JPG[/attachment:2k3o7uh7] Think it is too far gone even for bilt hamber deox c, so will have to get a new one, anyone got one on good condition? (will place an advert in Wanted section), in the meantime I plan to give enging bay a good clean, get rid on a bit of surface rust and replace a few srews/bolts/brackets/hoses etc. Will update as I make progress. Can I ask where you bought the gauges from?, look really 8) and VDO stays with the OEM theme. TIA Rich

Pity oil cooler hasn't sorted it for you, mine has had wierd temps since having the top end rebuilt. If you sort it let us know, and if I sort mine out (doubtfull with my mechanical skills) will let you know. Rich

Yep, works off the switch no problem.

Had a few hours spare today so tried to sort the last few (current) remaining problems with My Corrado. Since I bought the car the spoiler has never worked automatically (well it did once randomly), have replaced the module and checked fuses etc. The blue and white wire to the HU loom has been cut but had been joined to a black wire which disappears behind the clocks..... decided to trace this and it goes to what appears to be an after market cruise control unit. Have tried unplugging the CC unit.... still does not work, tried cutting the blue and white wire...nothing. My knowledge of wiring is limited, however the blue and white wire is permanently live (14.5v according to multi meter) is this right? Think it is probably time to give in and look for an auto electrician (head unit wiring is also a mess), but thought I would see if anyone had any ideas first. Cheers Rich Rich

Rado vs Rice : a little test, which do you prefer?
RDH replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
One looks understated and only really attracts attention from people who know what it is. The other shouts "look at me I'm a chav" That is one mingin supra, to be honest I don't mind them is standard form, but wouldn't want one! -
Hi Jim. Can you let us know if the oil cooler sorts the cooling probs, I have exactly the same probs as you with my valver. Thanks Rich.
-
Sorry to kindof hijack thread, do late valvers have a fan control module (the one near the coolant bottle), my 94 does not have one, and the fan only works on lower speed. TIA Rich

Red VR Retail World Rotherham about 10.45 this morning, looked a nice standard example.

2 cars I lusted after as a young un- Corrado and 911 (pre 89). Got the C 8) (and will always have one), am already saving for the 911 Rich.

My valver was the same with the excessive engine bay temps, when I had the H/G replaced last year the exhaust manifold was found to be cracked, when this was sorted the bay temps seem to have improved. Might be worth checking, I am sure hot exhaust gasses will push up the temps!. If water and oil temps are ok it might be worth checking the exhaust manifold. (please note I an no expert so could be talking sh*te). HTH Rich

Got mine today, really good read after a Sh*te day at work. Best one I have had so far, well done guys. Cheers Rich.

That would have been me. Just on my way to the joy that is Rotherham Tesco's! :gag: Hope you had a lovely time :|

Irwins bolt grippers, have managed to get rounded allen bolts of rear brakes with mine, think screwfix sell them. Rich ps first saw these on here and have to say one of the best tools I have, 100% value for money.

Autoglym do a black dye, comes in a spray can and gives a really good finish (especially on textured plastic), never seen it in shops but you can get it online. Rich
-
thanks, yeah it is just the bottom bit... they are picking it up in the morning to sort it out!! dont trust them though and would rather someone else done it, but i have spent 1500 getting the parts from VW and labour for all the welding and smoothing they done. have to see what they do this time... Hope you get it sorted, you should talk to trading standards if the quality is still poor. Rich

Just wondered if the door lines up at the top and around the lock, I am sure you can make adjustments, but am not sure what planes the door moves in. I think the pin the lock on the door fastens to(striker pin??) can be adjusted (think I did this on a mark 2 golf to sort a door that was out along the rear edge). If it is just the bottom corner of the door I think I would be talking to the individual who "fixed" it for you. Rich

Have you tried machine polishing?, can make a massive difference, sometimes you literally can polish a turd!!!, would be a lot cheaper than painting, if you don't fancy a go yourself you could get a pro to have a go/advise you if it would be worth it. Have a look on detailing world website, some real perfectionists on there, but I am sure you would get an honest opinion if you posted some pics. Rich.

I like the standard wheel colour fella, car looks really mean and I think the red spoils the look. Love the car though. Rich.
-
Hi If you are still struggling to remove the polish buy some quick detailer spray (Halfords do Meguires), spray it on the panels/affected areas and wipe off with a microfiber cloth. HTH Rich

Cheers for the write up, got the bits to do my brakes this guide is a big help. Rich.

[i think your best bet is to check over all the rubber ducting and pipework on the inlet system for splits, the boot from the metering head has a habit of splitting underneath and letting the engine draw in unmetered air. Do you think this could cause the problem with starting, or would it cause the error code? Cheers Rich
